I was able to get rid of more clothing by... Forcing myself to wear it lol. I looked in my drawer and saw lots of bras and jeans I don't wear. I decided that whatever is at the top, I have to wear tomorrow. The next day I put those items on and after barely thirty minutes I was tearing them off my body because they were uncomfortable, didn't fit anymore, didn't look good, didn't make me feel good. In one day I changed my pants four times and got rid of four pairs of jeans.

I am so proud that you set all these goals after years of hoarding problem! Such a giant work!
I personally once did "no buy" for 100 days several years ago. I was actually inspired by decluttering and realizing how much stuff I accumulated (despite never being an overspender by any means and not an impulsive buyer).
My "rules" were not insanely strict. Like if my face cream jar was empty, I "allowed" myself to buy a replacement. But I wasn't going to buy a new item if I already had a perfectly fine one. By the end of the 100 days I actually forgot about it😆not buying stuff became that easy, I didn't count days till the end, and just kept saving money and space in my house.

When I see pretty decor I like I take a photo of it rather than buy it. Then I can enjoy looking at the picture for a few days and often it means I don't feel compelled to buy it.

I found it quite helpful to actually count up what clothes I had. I realised that if I made an effort to wear everything an equal amount, I would only be wearing each item 4 times in a year. Most of my clothes are fairly good quality as they are second hand and so it made me realise I probably don’t need to buy new clothes for years and years.

Should put your hangers all the opposite way and when you wear something put it the right. That way you know what you wore for the season and consider getting rid of the ones you never wore at the end of the season. Just a thought, helpful in decluttering.

I am finding just removing just one or two items gives me more room in the house. It is amazing how little things add up that don't seem to be a problem. Clothes I can only do the first two on right and decide on them. Next day, I do the next two items. That way it isn't overwhelming. Also, I am trying to put all year's clothes in the closet. Getting them out per season is too much work. I can do with less.

Is there a link for the Christmas budget book? 🙂 My anxiety is pretty high these days, we have been feeding our family of 4, plus my mother-in-law every night, and also 2 extra people occasionally. That is 7 people, and we have had to buy a lot of extra food. Our groceries recently went to $80 more per week because of inflation, and adding the extra people is even more. I'm taking deep breaths, lol. And 3 of them are picky eaters, so certain budget meals don't work. It's fine, we're ok, all is well (repeat). 😅

@ Jennifer Wright, when my kids, now in their 40's, didn't want what I made, I handed them a jar of peanut butter and some bread. Later, one of them started
shopping and cooking for all of us. Now, the one who moved back after 20 years away has a bowl of oatmeal for supper if she doesn't like what I make. Tina, Al's

@@alanbirkner1958 yes, that is how it was when I was growing up! Our initial issue was that my husband never agreed with that - he would always offer to make them something else. We are reaping those consequences now, lol. Also - it turns out my mother-in-law is pretty picky too! I didn't see that coming, but now that she is a widow and we are feeding her every night - there is a lot that she doesn't like. (no dark meat chicken, only boneless skinless, etc.) Huh. Who knew?!

Hey gal, pro organizer here. I would make a small suggestion to make your life easier. When you switch in spring leave the winter clothing on the hangers and buy hangers for your clothing in the tubs. Just take winter hanging and fold them in half in your tubs so you aren’t spending an hour or longer switching out hangers. You want it to be an easy process. You can still look at each item to see if there is anything you can declutter.
I also have all my clients hang the hangers backwards on the closet rod so they can see at the end of the season if they wore items. When you wear it and wash it you put the hanger back the normal way. This give you hard data to know if you actually used it.
I’m an OG subscriber and am So proud of the progress you’ve made. The changes you’ve made have been incredible.

Not sure if it’s doable but could you take out the lower shelf, move the current bar up higher and then add a second bar beneath it. That way your husband could have the entire top bar and you could have the entire lower bar or vice versa? Another option could be move up the current bar and add a wooden piece down the middle. On one side add a second bar and leave the other side open for footwear etc.

Hence it breaks off easily, even if I get regular or semi regular haircuts. I bought two hair pieces off Amazon. They are OK, but I need some help and guidance. I no longer feel the need to buy new holiday decor. I have reduced my Christmas/holiday items and sold or donated a lot of them. Less is more when it comes to decorating. When are you going to decluttering the Christmas items? Your cave is way too much for you to manage and store. I was going to suggest that if she finds things in the Christmas decor that she's ready to let go of, she could use those as the basis for some presents for the people in her life. A little up cycle here, a bit of crafty embellishment there, and you've got a gift that has a little wow factor. Just the right type of project for a thrifty person who also happens to be artistic, and wants to shop her hoard.
