I like hearing your story, Mitch. I'm a bit younger than you but still see many parallels between us with food addiction over the majority of our lives. I've said it before, but your statement about how eating in "moderation" is an insidious trap for most carb addicts was one of the most personally profound declarations i have heard regarding eating. I now know that attempting to transition back to a diet with "moderate" amounts of carbs and sweets is a fools errand... at least for me personally. Thank you

Congratulations, Mitch! Unfortunately my journey included about a 12 year sidetrack with statins! I finally had to take charge of my own health and have been ketovore for over a year. At 78.5 years old I am 78 pounds lighter, with a waist of 33 inches versus 46 inches. I have gone from taking 9 medications to 3 daily. No longer "considered" diabetic (although I never bought that exaggeration). I have a few medical challenges ahead, but no reason to blame my age for my pains!

Congratulations! I am also celebrating my 2 year carniversary this month. I on the other hand had many setbacks during my 2 years. I gave myself cheat days in the beginning. I kept drinking alcohol for most of the first year and just called it dirty carnivore. I have since decided that to feel my best the alcohol had to go as well. I sometimes eat other things that are not considered carnivore, but not with any frequency. Most days and weeks I do not consume anything but meat, eggs, and some dairy. I feel the best when following this practice of intentional eating. I have yet to go and get any blood work done, but I really don't know who I need to prove anything to except myself. I feel better than I can remember feeling in many years. Maybe I will get blood work done just to see someday. Thanks for your testimony Mitch.❤❤❤

I went from 220 with high blood pressure etc... to 165 lbs with no high blood pressure and my waist is back to my actual size 32 " instead of the 36 " to 40" that it was. I can actually run again to. I only wish I would of started much sooner. I would love to be in Orlando, however, I am in the middle of the woods and my vehicle broke down and I am in the process of trying to buy another one. I am about to do a David Goggins and walk 25 miles to town one morning soon. This is ridiculous. Narcissistic family loves it. I could be so much happier than this and I will be when I make some changes.

I used to take miralax every other day along with a lot of fiber (24gram/day as suggested by doctor…horrible 20+years…). and now, I’m haven’t needed it at all. Couldn’t be happier! Cut the fiber… it’s a lie that we need it.

Fat and protein being the primary fuel source of humans. The metaphor being: instead of quitting cigarettes; "you'll be healthier on low tar cigarettes"

I guess you’re doing okay with kidney stones. I also had a history as a stone-former, like my dad, and my 6-years-older brother, who both have had several. I heard that advice about lemon water, but that didn’t sound very appealing, just from the standpoint of the nuisance of making it. Then it occurred to me almost 10 years ago that I could switch the form of magnesium supplement I was taking to magnesium citrate, thinking the citric acid was most likely the secret sauce of lemons. Sure enough, I’ve never had another one since. I turned my brother on to it, and he has done the same, with the same results-no more stones. I mentioned this to my urologist, who said basically, ‘Oh, yeah. You can do that, too. In fact, any of the alkaline metals will work for that.’ Thanks, doc, for not mentioning that as an option. Harrumph.

Here is some advice from my 547 days as a carnivore…
First you’ve got to keep your fat content very high. 70-80% fat macros is ideal.
Most beginner carnivores aren’t eating enough fat and this will cause low energy and could also cause constipation too.
As Dr Kiltz says, carnivore should really be called “Fativore”!!
Second, make sure you are eating enough. As Dr Berry says, when you’re hungry, eat lots of fatty (preferably red) meat and eggs until you’re comfortably stuffed/full. Then, go outside and play. Then when you get hungry again, repeat this process.
Carnivore is so simple and easy once you get into the groove and get past the first month or so.
      Good luck!!!😊😊

Mitch, If you discovered that you had FH resulting in LDL > 300 on LCHF diet, would that have concerned you based on what most traditional Cardiologists claim (using data) showing a correlation to elevated risk of heart disease? I've been on LCHF for 5 years, want to go Carnivore but my LDL > 300 even if I carefully manage my fat intake. If I didn't manage my fat intake, my LDL would be > 500. I've had the more advanced cholesterol tests, my cholesterol avg particle size is not statistically great. Fortunately, I don't have a secondary risk with bad Apo-A. All my other blood markers are great and I have no other heart disease risks, excluding insulin resistance in remission with LCHF. I know what Keto/Carnivore docs say about the lack of causal connection to LDL and heart disease. Frankly, I don't believe either side, I suspect some people do have a causal correlation of LDL and heart disease, the problem is there's no way to determine who is really at risk, although most aren't. I don't want to get this wrong and end up suffering in the future due to a bad decision but maybe I have no guaranteed healthy choice with this FH condition. I have seen the recent studies of FH by Keto folk but there are no non-invasive reliable tests for soft-plaque buildup detection. I've had CAC tests with zero but I don't trust this test for predicting soft-plaque related heart issues. Thanks.

I have my opinion on that, but I cannot give it to you as that would be medical advice and I'm not a doctor

@@OldGuyCarnivore Can you tell me if you would continue with Carnivore if you had my condition, or is that still too risky? The censorship/control on the internet is ridiculous, we can't say much of anything significant w/o high risk of being attacked/destroyed. Thanks.

@Hiker_Mike honestly, I don't think that anything to do with cholesterol could be aggravated or made any worse by avoiding poisonous foods

@@OldGuyCarnivore Thanks Mitch, yes, that's my reasoning regarding this too... oh well, if it turns out bad for me, I really have no choice because I'm not going back to the sugary/high-carb toxic garbage. Also, if I listened to the advice of the traditional Cardiologist, I would be prescribed several medications upon changing to their recommended low-fat diet... no thanks, not going down the destructive prescription drug path. Take care.
