      "What was it like for you when he disappeared? Really, it’s those first 24 hours that are the worst, aren’t they? When you call and you call and you call, and there’s just no answer. It becomes an obsession. The calling. The never-ending loop of a ghost’s voicemail in your ear. You worry. You wonder. You swear "Goddamn it, if he’s still living I’m gonna kill him myself." Is that what it was like for you? Did you rage at him? ‘Cause you thought he betrayed you? Because I wonder what would be worse for you? His duplicity or his death? He died quickly...if you were wondering. Didn’t suffer much. You see, Wilson, Matt Murdock isn’t the person you should be worried about. I killed Wesley. I shot him seven times... It's actually fitting that it was Karen who killed Wesley. Why? Well, in his first scene, Wesley was introduced walking up to Farnum in a park, then strong-arming him into trying to assassinate Karen in her jail cell by threatening Farnum's daughter. Here, Wesley tries to strong-arm Karen by threatening her bosses.

    Also I love Wesley's expression after the first shot. Looking back and forth between the bullet wound and Karen. He looks more shocked and confused than anything, because he didn't foresee this at all. Up to this point, Wesley was able to successfully manipulate anyone he wanted to and thought he could do the same here; which is why he was in complete disbelief that this was actually happening. The actor who played James Wesley really pulled off the subtleties of the character incredibly well.

    This was another great scene in the show. Karen was scared, alone, and vulnerable; I hate the damsels in distress. Wesley is an intriguing character whom I loved/hated making him brilliant. Thinking from Karen's perspective, Wesley: 1) Kidnapped her, 2) threatened her friends and family, 3) threatened her life. I cheered when she grabbed the gun and saved herself, it was self defense.

      You guys all have it wrong.. Wesley and the Fisk organization were the ones on the defense since she was poking into their business. Karen would never have been kidnapped or threatened otherwise. What I hate about this is the promotion of the myth that you can recklessly gamble at coming up against a well organized, funded and better managed opposition and just win.. Its stupid really and also dangerous..
      Unfortunately, some young people have bought into this madness.. Also, she was no damsel in distress.. rather, she was/is a 'busy-body' damsel who has yet to learn her lesson..

    Karen: You want secrets? I can tell you a secret, Wilson. Okay if I call you that? I feel like we know each other well enough by now...
    Fisk: As you wish, Karen...
    Karen: Great. James Wesley... What was it like for you when he disappeared? Really, it’s those first 24 hours that are the worst, aren’t they? When you call and you call and you call, and there’s just NO answer. It becomes an obsession. The calling. The never-ending loop of a ghost’s voice wail in your ear. You worry. You wonder. You swear ‘Goddammit if he’s still living I’m gonna kill him myself.’ Is that what it was like for you? Did you rage at him? ‘Cause you thought he betrayed you? Because I wonder what would be worse for you? His duplicity or his death?
    Fisk: [Breathing heavily]
    Karen: [softly] He died quickly... If you were wondering. Didn’t suffer much. You see, Wilson, Matt Murdock isn’t the person you should be worried about... I killed Wesley. I shot him 7 times. Because the clip ran out. He deserved MORE.

Unlike Fisk who is full of emotion, Wesley is almost devoid from emotion (other than the fact that he does truly love Fisk and would never betray him) and that is what makes him a scary villain.

    I think Wesley really thought Fisk was a good man. So much that he thought his ridiculous plan of trying to get Karen to convince Foggy, Murdock and Urich that Fisk is good would work because he truly believes that himself.
    Anyway, this is easily the most shocking scene in the entire show for me. Perhaps the saddest too since I think Wesley could have played a bigger part than Urich for at least another season and he could have been my favorite right hand man in decades. I think he's honestly my favorite villain in the show already.
    Edit: Also, Wesley's actor put on a great performance. One of the best in the show.

    • @MrMapmonde

      +TheDivasPalace This character is annoying. She put herself in danger and the one who ends up dead are the poor guy next to her, who got manipulated by her talk. Lots of time in the serie, they have told her to stop but no, she wants the attention, she wants to be rescued but she also wants to be the strong independant women, she causes problems around her and she don't learn anything.
      Wesley in that scene did not plan to kill her and she knows it, she could accept the deal and keep it down low for a second but her choice was to kill, after that Ben's death is also connected by her stupid moves.
      So no it is not a great character and I can't be on the side of this kind of person, who acts before thinking and get everyone into trouble.

      Personally, I don't hate her over it. That is what most people would do under such tension.
      What I didn't like was how out of character Wesley was, I mean he was the most cunning and devious character of the series and yet he didn't predict this reaction when he placed the gun on the table?

    I don't think a death scene could perfectly encapsulate a character quite like this. It's dumb of him to put a gun in the table, in retrospective, sure, it's stupid. But this is like a great mask off moment for Weasley. He's just a nerd. He walks badass, he talks with intimdation, but he has no power himself. even if he is the cog at the very top, he's still a cog. The way he looks to his bullet wound at the end is so cathartic, because you can see how confused he is, that he would ever get shot dead being a man so powerful and close to the kingpin. He died because his ego and lack of experience took control at the wrong time.

      Yeah, saddened as Fisk was by Wesley's death, he didn't take long to promote someone to replace him. By season 3, Felix Manning seems to be filling Wesley's old job. And after season 3, Fisk just settled for finding right hand guys who he would not get emotionally attached to.

    everyone is blaming karen about killing wesley. but in the comics, she has a pretty dark arc. not just murdering or killing, but she auditions for an acting job, loses it, becomes a porn star and gets into drugs. that is how dark she gets. maybe, that is how her past was in this series.

    This is the moment I fell in love with her. Because in most scenes, the girl in this situation always hesitates and forces us to scream at the screen, “JUST SHOOT HIM!”
    Karen, on the other hand, just
    Gives a total “FUCK YOU” expression and does what we have all been waiting for since the beginning of time.
    She doesn’t even let him finish. She doesn’t wait to see what happens next. She doesn’t let him say anymore that would let him get to her.
    She shoots him once. And then again and again. She wasn’t going to risk him surviving and coming back for her.
    She wanted him dead. And that’s exactly what she got.

      +Renaldy Calixte Anyone who is not tied and with half a brain would know to reach for a gun that is placed at arm's reach. Wesley, a smartass, would know that. Fisk is a social Darwinist, a megalomaniacal narcissist, and an altogether evil man. Yet, seeing him standing there listening to the phone ring is among the most heart-wrenching moments on this show. Few performances can pull off that kind of dissonance.

    And this is why Daredevil and Jessica Jones made it to 3rd seasons. Super dark, complex and has several decent actors. Luke Cage and Iron Fist didn't have enough of those qualities. Watching Deborah Ann Woll in this scene and many more is what sold me on her acting skills. She made me completely forget that I'm looking at hot vampire Jessica from Trueblood. Also Vincent D'Onofrio is fantastic as Kingpin.

    • @shounakdas4654
      @shounakdas4654 5 лет назад +1

      The only reason Daredevil and Jessica Jones made to 3rd season is because both had extraordinary first seasons. LC and IF due to their disappointing 1st season lost most of the viewers in 2nd season. Daredevil maintained quality throughout but JJ s2 was one of the worst things in Netflix mcu. I guess JJ will face the viewership problem hard in s3.

    • @shounakdas4654
      @shounakdas4654 5 лет назад +1

      However I thought Luke Cage s2 was very much complex, dark and full of stakes and everyone (Bushmaster, Shades, Mariah Dillard, Luke's dad) acted the hell out to sell their characters. Shame it didn't get picked up after that cliffhanger ending. IF improved in s2 but not in a huge way. However, Alice Eve did great as Typhoid Mary. I guess she will be in Daredevil s4
