- Our attraction to James Bond watches is undeniable, but what are the reasons why we gravitate to these pieces of 007 connection? James Lamdin, of Analog: Shift, and I break it down from a film, philosophical, and investment point of view as we get BLUNT with the world of watches and our favorite secret agent....

When David is not running an advertising and marketing company, his hobby is The Bond Experience which is primarily a video blog where he discusses Bond experiences and the people and brands that help to create those experiences...
The mantra of living like Bond, one moment at a time emanates from a concept of experiencing the joy of collecting small moments in life that add up to amazing journeys and stories....whether it's through style, locations, literature, fitness, and the movies themselves the world of Bond is explored through its people and their stories.
Ultimately though, The Bond Experience channel is a celebration of the James Bond franchise and the many people that form a true community. Our core mission is to create a strong connection in the Bond community amongst all the fans, regardless of interest or demographic.

Great chat! James Lamdin was a n amazing host, and Analog: Shift was a place to behold! What an incredible day!
Epic day!
Loads of great topics discussed.
I agree fully, 'its not about the brand label'. Its a testament to your channel, that you explain the products 'why'. So to your example on Polo shirts, a viewer undestands how it elevates their style, but also the befits of natural fabrics etc etc.
Great discussion! Would love to view his collection! The love I have for my Brosnan era Seamaster continues to grow as I wear it everyday and view discussions such as this.
What a great conversation. Always get a smile on my face watching your vids, man. So much charisma. I always find myself watching whatever Bond movie you reference.
That was a splendid chat. Lively and hilarious.
I loved this discussion. I have a very modest watch collection myself, and it’s so interesting how far the gambit goes between not only Bond watches, but what people can choose as their watch, from a simple digital Seiko, all the way up to complex Omega’s or the most rarest of Rolexes and everything in between.
So glad you enjoyed this!
James is a cool guy. Thanks for posting this follow up to the tour show.
A very cool!
I have 4 Bond watches. My first was my grail, a 16610 Sub I purchased new in 1994, then Fleming's Explorer 1, Casino Royale's Omega Planet Ocean and Derval's Breitling Navitimer from Thunderball.
Some amazing choices
Great discussion, David. I'd rank the buzzsaw bezel highly and I also love the laser in the GoldenEye Seamaster.
This Tissot WAS his personal Tissot ..Moore told it to me in 1996. We can see him with this Tissot already during the Bond press conference in 1972 and in other moments before, like in a private jet plane. Many other details to reveal about it later..
Not only did this video bring back memories but the revisit brings to mind things that I forgot. This is a super interview with James and David really playing off each other. One of James' comments made the name "Analog:Shift" make sense. I must assume this was on purpose. I must come back for another visit. The discussion gets very deep into the films and many points made that are not well known.
GREAT discussion!!! I too love Bonds style! And watches! I’d have to say the grappling hook in I think was The World is Not Enough, is my favorite . Then the one that has a sonic sound that breaks glass. Not the ring but the watch. The ring is cool too!!! Thanks David!
Great episode, David.
Thanks! I am wearing my vintage 5513 as I watch this video! I never had it serviced as I bought it about 30 years ago. STILL keeps perfect time...
Very enjoyable watching this. I'm currently wearing my Omega Seamaster Professional 300M 2220.80, Casino Royale watch. A daily memento of my favorite Bond movie.
Really enjoyed this discussion. I completely agree with the statement of “feeling it” when it comes to choosing something whether it’s a watch, jacket, or a simple polo shirt. Every time I wear my Omega PO or even just my “L’Americain” tshirt I feel good! Bond style is in its own class. Those who know, know.
Very fun chat. Really liked learning about LaLD just that much more. It’s my least favorite film but has good elements to it.
Very good conversation
Another great video. I like the thought of borrowing the watch. Because mine will go to my son and daughter, then onwards. You can't do that with a cheap Walmart watch. But a high quality watch will carry your legend with it for those its passed on to, just as much as it does for Bond.
Love the Tissot! I always wondered about what that watch was and noticed when watching the film that this piece was NOT the Rolex Submariner.
I think the only Bond watch that really attracted me was the digital LED one in Live And Let Die, and I was 8 years old at the time. The Rolexs never interested me at all, apart from the Q-branch gadgets inside them, and I certainly could never spend more on just a watch than what a new car costs.
That sartorial rabbit hole influenced by James Bond is so real
A intriguing question that has been occupying my mind. Is the Casio Royal Planet Ocean the same as the Quantum of Solace in a different size?
David,
Did you purchase all of your watches new or preowned? I’m looking for my first Omega 300M or PO and not sure where to start.
Great chat - love the references that James made about being a part of the journey of a mechanical watch. David how could you multi task during Octopussy? Just how could you.
I'm working on a take on the Seiko G757 it is taking a while, probably a year in at this point.
James is a cool dude
Bond timepieces are timeless bond classics.
The Tissot PR516 Seastar Visodate was Roger Moore’s personal watch. He loved both Tissot and Rolex.
I know he owned a breitling and bulova and eVen omega but he’s not been seen with a Rolex as far as I’m knowledgeable
Can't wait to watch this tonight after work, new bond watches come along then I fall in love with them but my favourite is and always will be my casino royale planet ocean it's just a sexy beast.
We are attracted because of the marketing and we think that if we buy the watch we are somehow secretly James Bond. When if we took a step back and appraised it we would realise we are being conned and if Fleming was writing the books today Bond would have something smaller like a 36 inch face and minimalist.
"The Casio Royale" ☺
ok ok... I succumbed to the peer pressure and went out and bought some more Macallan. I save my bottles of 25 for unique celebrations, but a few 'younger' bottles can't do me any harm.
Suckered into the marketing trap i you buy a watch, or anything, based on films. Ir's all product placement but I suspect most people realise that. IMHO the best seamster never appeared in bonds wrist, the superb 2254
Are they mixing cocktails with Macallan 15?:(
They did make mixed drinks but I do not know which Macallan was used.
Do what you want.
Who are these refined hunks?
Dress Code : Polo Shirt
I love Bond clothing, and could discuss it all day.
The watches? Sorry, am completely indifferent.
Background noise is distracting.
Sorry about that. The crowd was excited.
in ohmss he wears a rolex and uses it as a knuckleduster.
Rolex are the ugliest watches.
Those 5513s were pretty worthless even a decade ago. Your father in law shouldn't feel too badly about it.
I kist don't understand the attraction of dress watches. They don't do anything except tell the time and largely look ugly as well as costing far too much.
And I don’t understand your opinions. Lol
@@MaestroDeca Fair enough.
Can you perhaps explain to me what is interesting or attractive about a watch costing thousands that A) isn't that attractive especially in the case of Rolex and B) doesn't actually do anything other than tell the time.
Is it just being seen to be wearing an expensive watch, or is it tje self gratification of having been successful enough to buy one?
Im not trying to be a dick, I genuine want to know the attraction. It seems to me it's just the men's equivalent of an expensive handbag.
@@sandersson2813 you obviously don't have the love or the open mind to see that a high end dress piece, made laboriously by hand, can be a an art form to many, can add elegance, class, style, and sophistication to your sartorial wardrobe. A manual or automatic gives the user a feeling of connection, one which without your input, the watch fails to work. There are centuries of men and women enjoying precious metal timpieces, and even more evidence of love for commissioned and crafted clock/watch movements.
Your strong opinion against dress watches says less about you being a dick, and more about you having an opinion and wording it in a self righteous way.
Whether you think they are ugly or not, you're free to think that. But whether men and women have seen it s a beautiful, ornate, sophisticated, carefully crafted, mechanism striving for perfection in an imperfect world, is completely sound and reasonable.
My point being, I don't know how you can box ALL dress watches as being ugly, expensive, and not worth it. Absolutes don't make for sound opinions. I am sure there are precious dress watches that are worth their value.
@@MaestroDeca I'm sure there are some that are nice, bit I just can't find any that would make me want to part with £500+ for something that just tells the time and nothing more.
