Glad to see you out and about. A new Gerbings, how great, Mine is 40 years old this year. Old style sleeved jacket liner. Old style on/off switch gear, Simple. Still works. It always felt good to pull to a stop and have steam rizing from my collar. Pretty damn nice. Good ride. Beautiful place. This time of year take what you can get. It has been pretty good here in Kentucky but a couple weeks of winter is coming. Single digits, little snow, heavy frost everyday. Makes for some sketchy riding. Have a good one Matt. Another quality vid. The talking was good. Not some craziness going on but to the point. Next time.
Thanks Sam. 40 years and still working is a great advert for Gerbing, my new stuff seems pretty well made, 40 years might be asking a bit much of it though 😁
I really appreciate what you do with your videos along with the narration and history details of where you visit. Your landscape is amazing and much different from here in L.A. Here I ride to get away from the highway traffic and tend to go towards the mountains and along the Pacific Coast Highway. Cheers! :)
Don't think I've ever seen so little traffic on the snake pass, live in France now but used to ride these roads all the time, brings back some happy memories.
Hi Matt Love that video absolutely beautiful scenery and perfect for biking Makes me want to go out on one so lovely really is! Love the history chat 💬 adds that extra Perfect and bike looks ace All the best look forward to the next Phil Green
Great video Matt, I really like to hear a bit of history about the place you've stopped at. More please. I also like the shots of you riding towards and away from the camera. Top work.
I like your videos, but I do enjoy learning a bit about the area your riding through. Freddie Dobbs does a great job with this in his videos. A few facts go a long ways

Beautiful video. It's -35C for 3 days in Calgary...not a hope in hell for a winter ride. Good to see you folks in the UK can sneak out in the winter months like this. The bike, the production quality all first class. Thanks.
Wonderful footage as usual Matt! I appreciate that you have added a bit of narration to this video. We are currently under a foot of snow here in Chicago, so it’s nice to be able to ride vicariously through you. Cheers!
A great start to the year with a new video format Matt, the voice over volume it's on point, together with the soundtrack and the engine noise, truly awesome combination!! Great choice of music too, as usual, well done you! Thanks for sharing! 👍👍
I enjoyed the commentary along with the visuals. I also like the ones without speech as well, so make what you like. It'll probably be good. By the way, I'm envious of the scenery in your neck of the woods. Living in North central Texas, we don't have much at all that looks like this.
Glad to hear you liked the video. I think most of my videos will still be without any narration, just occasionally if I’m going somewhere particularly interesting or a longer trip I might do a spot of talking 🙂
Good choice of location. The last time i was on the road alongside the reservoir was March 2019. The weather was outstanding and I had a glorious ride. Took some beautiful photos and it's one of those days i will never forget. Some secluded little pockets of England are just wonderful. And only an hour from home. Lucky us. 😊
January 13th, 2024: I'm glad you're able to ride in this time of year. Unfortunately, here in Western New York, I'm probably about 2 months from getting my bike back on the road (due to the wonderful weather here). I enjoyed your video. Please ride safe.
We’ve had terrible weather these past two months, swaying from constant rain to below freezing, was lucking to get a few dry-ish days but we’re forecast snow next week. Roll on Spring I say!
Hey Matt! Great video. As always some lovely cinemaphotography (is that a word?) but you got the music just spot on and that just lifted the whole viewing experience! Nice one. All the best. Simon.
I like this style, good balance of narration with great video/ photography. It’s a bit early for me in Scotland. I think temperature was around -5 last night but can’t wait to get out
Your video conveys such a wonderful atmosphere; beautiful landscape, gorgeous bike and soothing music. Greetings from Berlin , Jim (snow and freezing temperatures here).
Thanks Jim, glad you liked it. Our snow and freezing temperatures has finally arrived with us today so looks like no more filming for me for at least the rest of this month.
Hi Matt, great choice for your first video, I fancy doing Lady Bower/ Snake Pass this year. I enjoyed your last video of snake pass, nice to see you have the Bonnie back.
@@ClassicRides so far I love it! Smooth riding bike. I have 325 miles to go for proper break-in. I’m eyeing those classy waxed panniers on your site ;)
@@twodogs257 They get so much better once they're run in properly. I'm hoping for a restock on the bags by the end of May, so keep your eyes peeled as they don't hang around long 😁
Ladybower brings back very good memories to me from riding all around there when I lived in North Staffordshire, beautiful part of the world. Have to agree with you Gerbing heated jacket and gloves make a huge difference to winter rides as I'm always warm and toasty however cold it gets down here in Snowdonia!
The heated gear is such a game changer, I’m always surprised by guys trying to look hard saying they’d never use it 😁 I wouldn’t be without a set of heated stuff for winter.
Wishing you a very productive year in every aspect of the life. 🎉😊 Also your new video format suits you better and gives a better understanding of the beauty of our island. And helps the Americans understand also 😂 just kidding. Have a glorious week
Hey Matt, the narration is really working for me. I think you've got the tone just right and the audio is great - warm, friendly but also a little understated. As others have noted, perhaps the extended POV footage in the second half is out of place with the rest of the video. I know there are folk out there who love that stuff, but it's not for me. By the way, there's a somewhat grim parallel that you might be interested in: the countryside around one of the main targets of the Dam Busters, the Möhnesee dam here in Germany, also has some lovely motorcycling roads.
Thanks Simon, yes I quite agree. I'm not 100% sure why I tacked it onto the end, maybe a lesson learned not to edit when very tired 😁. I've heard that the Möhnesee dam is a great area to ride in, as is a lot of Germany. One day I'll get over there!
Pretty insane that you can get out riding now already 🙈 we got more snow again today, and it looks like it will continue for the next week also. Appreciate your new style. Great mix into the bag of already beautiful videos. Thank you for make in these. Love the bike shots with the dam towers 👏🏻🤌🏻 From 7 minute onwards is not for me! But keep up the great work Matt 🎥
We’ve had terrible weather to be honest, just one slightly ok day. We’re forecast snow ourselves next week, hopefully it won’t last long. Not sure about the last bit either, probably won’t add that in again 😁
yes exactly. I have a Bonneville T120 Diamond Edition number 397 of 900. with 7200km and looks brand new, completely original. If you have interest you would be the perfect buyer which I would give my bike.
I rather liked the video, and it was a welcome break from what might otherwise have been a busy morning here in California, but now, for the rest of the day, I'll be worrying that you left your thermos bottle sitting on that bench next to the reservoir :)
Estas hecho un profecionales como siempre, magníficas carreteras y estupenda moto que más queremos, haz empezado el año muy bien por cierto feliz año nuevo y que tengas muchas rutas amigo 😊
It is really good when you talk. Chill out but informative. Very good, at least for me. I'm also really impressed how well it performs. Clear sign that I should switch to sth else than touring videos ;) Cheers
I love your touring videos, please don't stop them, they're a big part in what made me start this channel! And you saying that I should talk in my videos has stuck with me, so I'm trying it (although it took a while). I don't know why YT doesn't push your channel more to be honest, you deserve a much bigger audience.
@@ClassicRides I don't know if that's YT or simply there is not enough audience for that kind of cheesy humour ;) Anyway I need to rethink it really. Maybe it's worth to close that channel and reopen a new one. I really don't know
@@UncleLongbeard I wonder if maybe your titles are causing YT to "shadowban" your channel. A lot of your videos, particularly the ones where you're on tour, start with the same three or four words. Maybe the algorithm is seeing that as potential spam and hobbling your channel as a result. Might be worth going through your videos and changing the starting words to your titles and see what happens.
Matt, have you changed your exhaust? Sounds more burbly and lowe in pitch than before, perhaps a new microphone position? Nice to hear your comments on where you are and a bit of historical background - keep them coming😊
It’s the same exhaust, just my never ending experiments in trying to capture decent exhaust audio, managed to record something that sounds a bit like my bike for once. Not quite there yet though!
First: Happy new year! New Belstaff jacket? Looks like the Crosby. I sold it last year so I could buy the McGregor. I have been a Belstaff fan since 2003. Long before the Hipsters discovered the brand.
Thanks Raoul mate, happy new year to you too! Yes it’s a new Crosby. I needed a larger jacket that would fit over a heated coat (my others fit great for summer, but a bit too tight with another jacket underneath) Like you, I’m a bit of a fan of Belstaff. The McGregor’s a lovely looking jacket, I was very tempted to get one myself. But I got a really good deal on the Crosby so that’s what I went for. It’s nice, just feels like a less good version of the Tourmaster Pro I have. It’ll do for winter though!
Thanks Gary, glad you liked it. The helmet is a Hedon Heroine Racer in the Macadamia colour, and the bags are my own , if you’d like more info on them you can find them at www.classic-rides.co.uk 🙂
Hi, great video, and a beautiful bike. I own a 21 plate T120 black. Would you mind telling me where you got those great looking spot lights from please. How easy are they to mount and power?? Kind regards.. Steve
Thanks Steve. I got the light from a breaker on eBay so I’m not sure what it’s come off, I think it may be a HD unit though. To mount it I needed to put crash bars on and then added a little bracket, both from eBay also. Then I just made up my own simple wiring loom for it. I’m not into auto electrics at all so if I can do it anyone can 👍
Excellent video!! Subscribed! If you ever come to North Wales...please feel free to ask for a guided bike tour! 😃👍👍👍 Happy to show you around and even help you get some footage.
Great vid as always. I can’t help myself. . .is there ANY other way to attach that tank rack without the plastic suction cups? LOL. I can’t stop looking at them and thinking how off putting they are on such a beautiful classic! All in good fun, and assume you get it. Leather straps would be far busier, but I’m noodling on this. . .Again, great vid!
I felt the same way too when I first got it, but I’m not drilling my tank and I was reliably informed that suction cups weren’t unheard of on original Bonnie tank racks. I don’t notice them now anyway 😁
I made my own wiring loom up, but it might be easier to just buy a generic auxiliary light loom from Amazon and alter it a bit. Personally I have the light running on it's own cables to the battery and then there's a handlebar mounted switch that takes a feed from the auxiliary power socket (under the tank), then that goes from the switch to a relay spliced into the light loom. That way the light can be switched on or off safely without being exposed to the full charge of the battery.
Brill thanks so much, the one Ive ordered has a high and low beam so was thinking along the lines you have. Run a fused wire from the battery via a isolating switch to the relay then use the high beam signal to power the relay for high beam 😊 Will be in Devon in June this year ill look out for you Cheers Kev
Nice one. Good to chat. How was your Gerbing heated jacket? I’ve recently bought a competing brand and been delighted with it. Just a long sleeve Marino base layer and then my Halvarssons Naren over the heated lightweight ultraflex . Very snug on medium setting in 4c. No need now for multiple layering which never completely kept my core warm anyway in temperatures close to 0c
It’s great, I had the ‘other’ brand last year but found the sleeves weirdly short & uncomfortable. This one fits perfect and has a remote control for the temp, which is actually super useful.
A little talking would really enrich your videos. Just don't be shy. It shows a little more who is behind these great videos. Finally I see someone for whom tea with milk is completely normal. I know in Britain it is normal, but here in Austria people drink tea without milk. I've been drinking it this way since I was a child. But when I order tea with milk in a restaurant here in vienna, I always get puzzled looks. :D A funny story: I was on Lake Garda with my partner and ordered tea with milk for breakfast. We were served two glasses of milk with a tea bag. :D :D :D
@@rramirrezz same place as you! Could see anywhere that might be better, just getting the drip tube in place was a pain, still needs a bit of adjustment I think.
Thanks, glad you think so. The Gerbing gear was great, didn’t need to put anything on its hottest setting to keep nice and warm and it’s very comfortable. I’m planning on doing a proper review video soon, once I’ve used them a decent amount. 🙂
@@ClassicRides sounds good. It’s still cold and snowing here in Sweden. My first ride for the year has to wait. Even if I had heated gear the snow is stoping me 🫣🥶
Great Matt! I' wish you a happy new year and many good miles on the saddle of your bonnie! I' love to see your horse and enjoy the landscape!😍 Where is it? It' s look like Wales... Greeting from north germany, "Sevenfifty"- Børni
Hi. Could you share the info of your gloves and the hand grips guard? I'm thinking of install a grid guard to my 2020 T120. Thanks in advance. Getting from USA
Hi, the gloves are the Gerbing XR Xtreme short cuff gloves, so far they’ve been excellent in the cold. There’s a link in the pinned comment if you want to check them out. The hand guards Barkbusters VPS with the universal single point mount, again they’ve been really good at keeping the cold off my hands this winter 👍
Not a quick answer I’m afraid 😁. It’s on its own wiring loom, so the light is wired straight to the battery, then there’s a small switch I got from Amazon which takes a feed from the auxiliary power line, that goes to a relay which then goes into the loom. That way I can operate the light safely. I think you can buy general ready-made looms for auxiliary lights if you don’t want to make your own though 🙂
Lovely work! I’ve just taken delivery of my T120 and would love to know how you’ve perfectly centred your phone on the bars? I had a street triple before and just used a stem mount but the T120 doesn’t have that. Would love any advice. Thank you.
First thing is have bar risers, so the centre part of the bar is exposed (unlike with the stock brace). Then it’s just a quad lock mount put in the middle.

Your dog had the same look as mine does when he sees me getting ready to go out on the bike 😢. Enjoyed the vid and the commentary 👍
Haha, yes the guilt is hard to bear 😁 Think he gets sad as he knows there’ll be no snacks for a couple of hours.
Wonderful ride! But, 4 degrees is so cold~ lol.
Thanks Atsuki, it was a little cold but the heated jacket & gloves help a lot 🔥
Ah I think we saw you on Sunday riding up alongside Dovestones, we were the black Nissan that pulled over for you to pass!
Well thank you very much for moving over, I hope I waved 'thanks' on the way past 🫣
Great video Matt, I was there on my T120 today, not as quiet at the weekends and no access to Howden but great all the same😎👍
Still a great ride getting there no matter which direction you come from 👍
Beautiful; appreciate the background info on history. Lots of cleaning afterwards?
Yes a little bit, the bike’s covered in XCP which has an added benefit of making the muck easy to wash off 🙂
I rather liked the video, and it was a welcome break from what might otherwise have been a busy morning here in California, but now, for the rest of the day, I'll be worrying that you left your thermos bottle sitting on that bench next to the reservoir :)
I would never forget my Thermos, cups of tea on the road is far too important to forget about.
Estas hecho un profecionales como siempre, magníficas carreteras y estupenda moto que más queremos, haz empezado el año muy bien por cierto feliz año nuevo y que tengas muchas rutas amigo 😊
Thanks Paco, glad you liked the video. Happy New Year to you too 🍻
It is really good when you talk.
Nice ride.
Thanks 🙏
I needed a larger jacket that would fit over a heated coat (my others fit great for summer, but a bit too tight with another jacket underneath)
Like you, I’m a bit of a fan of Belstaff. The McGregor’s a lovely looking jacket, I was very tempted to get one myself. But I got a really good deal on the Crosby so that’s what I went for. It’s nice, just feels like a less good version of the Tourmaster Pro I have. It’ll do for winter though!
looks great:) something i have to do at some point
I very much recommend it 👍🏻
Happy new year 😅
Thank you, happy new year to you too!
Great video!
Thank you 🙏
@@ClassicRides i done my first ride to glossop last week, was absolutely frozen. Road towards holmfirth was very sketchy. Ride safe!
@@artistonamotorbike I bet it was! Hopefully warmer weather is just around the corner 🤞
Really nice piece of filming and what a beautiful place to ride , I like your crash helmet and the panniers on the bike ?
I’m not into auto electrics at all so if I can do it anyone can 👍
Also love it up there. Great video thanks. Which tyres are you currently running on your T120? Cheers
They’re Avon Trailriders 👍
Привет ) Отличный формат видео ) Большое удовольствие смотреть ) Подскажи, дополнительная фара на твоём мотоцикле справа светодиодная?
Thanks, actually it’s a standard incandescent bulb light 💡
Excellent video!! Subscribed! If you ever come to North Wales...please feel free to ask for a guided bike tour! 😃👍👍👍 Happy to show you around and even help you get some footage.
Thanks Neil, glad you liked the video. I actually know North Wales pretty well as I have family there, but thanks for the guided tour offer!
Great video.
Enjoyed the commentary on the legendary Dam Busters.
One quick question….
what luggage rack are you using?
Glad you liked it. The luggage rack is Triumph’s own, but it’s the version that comes with a back rest, I just took the back rest off 🙂
Great vid as always.
Hi another great video thanks for posting, can I ask I’m putting a side fog light on my T120 also but was wondering how you wired it up thanks ?
I made my own wiring loom up, but it might be easier to just buy a generic auxiliary light loom from Amazon and alter it a bit. Personally I have the light running on it's own cables to the battery and then there's a handlebar mounted switch that takes a feed from the auxiliary power socket (under the tank), then that goes from the switch to a relay spliced into the light loom. That way the light can be switched on or off safely without being exposed to the full charge of the battery.
Brill thanks so much, the one Ive ordered has a high and low beam so was thinking along the lines you have.
Run a fused wire from the battery via a isolating switch to the relay then use the high beam signal to power the relay for high beam 😊
Will be in Devon in June this year ill look out for you
Cheers
Kev
Hope you went back for your thermos. Looked like you left it on the bench!! Would be a good excuse for moe riding.
I did, I’d be lost without my Thermos 😁
A little talking would really enrich your videos. Just don't be shy. It shows a little more who is behind these great videos.
Finally I see someone for whom tea with milk is completely normal. I know in Britain it is normal, but here in Austria people drink tea without milk. I've been drinking it this way since I was a child. But when I order tea with milk in a restaurant here in vienna, I always get puzzled looks. :D
A funny story: I was on Lake Garda with my partner and ordered tea with milk for breakfast. We were served two glasses of milk with a tea bag. :D :D :D
Ah yes, I don’t understand drinking tea without milk, Europeans are weird! 😁
I got myself one of those chain oilers that you have, seems good so far 👌
@@ClassicRides the cobrra nemo II? oh - fine! where did you mount it?
@@rramirrezz same place as you! Could see anywhere that might be better, just getting the drip tube in place was a pain, still needs a bit of adjustment I think.
@@ClassicRides i ordered the sparepart cobrra NDN2-B15 - that has 15 mm more length - so it was easier to mount than with the original holder..
@@rramirrezz Ah that’s interesting, I may have to do the same. Thanks Onkel!
I love all your cinematics, did you use the go pro or the panoX for your chest POV takes? Thanks!
Hi Dominik, in this video it's the PanoX I used for the POV shots 🙂
Those Vance&Hines mufflers sound wonderful ! Baffled or open ?
Thanks David, they're open. They're not very loud so even with the baffles out they're still well within legal limits, and they sound much better 🙂
Beautiful day trip! Your storytelling is amazing and inspiring.
How did your heated gear workout?
Thanks, glad you think so. The Gerbing gear was great, didn’t need to put anything on its hottest setting to keep nice and warm and it’s very comfortable. I’m planning on doing a proper review video soon, once I’ve used them a decent amount. 🙂
@@ClassicRides sounds good. It’s still cold and snowing here in Sweden. My first ride for the year has to wait. Even if I had heated gear the snow is stoping me 🫣🥶
@@LivetMedMCwell, Spring is just around the corner 🤞
Great Matt!
I' wish you a happy new year and many good miles on the saddle of your bonnie!
I' love to see your horse and enjoy the landscape!😍

Thanks Bernhard, happy new year to you too. The area is in Derbyshire, England, it’s in a national park zone called The Peak District 🙂
HNY……..Nice vid, how did you manage to get that long shot both ways.
Thanks Walter, I’ve been experimenting with a 360 camera. There’ll be a video on coming quite soon 🙂
Do you have a link to that particular Gerbing heated jacket! Thanks
I sure do, it's this one: collabs.shop/9a1mqy and I genuinely think it's great. A review on it will be coming soon 🙂
Enjoyed watching, I'm full of intention but no conviction maybe being from the south I'm not as hardy as you lads from the north 😏
Heated gear is your friend, I wouldn’t be out in this weather without it 🔥
Cracking vid as usual matey😁. Quick question…. How have you wired the auxiliary lamp?
Not a quick answer I’m afraid 😁.
It’s on its own wiring loom, so the light is wired straight to the battery, then there’s a small switch I got from Amazon which takes a feed from the auxiliary power line, that goes to a relay which then goes into the loom. That way I can operate the light safely.
I think you can buy general ready-made looms for auxiliary lights if you don’t want to make your own though 🙂
@@ClassicRides cheers mate, that’s given me some thought about fixing one to my wife’s T100
@@keithprentice2100 I’m no auto electrician so if I can do it, anyone can 👍
Lovely work!
