I live in the Midlands (Walsall/ West Brom) and I would choose Snowdonia over anywhere else in the world. I did many plumbing jobs there back in the 80's (even thought I was an electrician) and I was shocked at their obsession with micro bore piping on central heating systems. I'd never seen it before in the Midlands.
I use one of those ‘Flexzilla’ anti crimp airline hoses which are the nuts! They come in bright orange and bright green too, they look great and work brilliantly for drain off as they literally cannot kink up.
I had to rehang 3 radiators in my exes house where those fixings had torn out of the plasterboard - I cut out a section of the plasterboard and replaced it with 12mm ply so that I could screw the brackets directly into.
Mark next time you fit a loose waste boss…. can you point out their is an orientation ie:- up/ down giving a flow slope built in usually stamped in the moulding ! Cheers buddy .. nice work mate
I used to work for a large national gas installation and maintenance company, name no names, they used to supply use those spiral fixings for pipe clips etc and the proper expanding bolts for hanging radiators. If someone gives a towel a tug on that towel rail and it’s wrapped round it will come away, seen it happen.
Good tip I learned is to drill a small pilot hole for the plaster fixing to follow through. Also when you use them on an impact bit they tend to wobble but if you use a screw driver they are much steadier going in.
Gone to so many rads were they have used them pig tail fixing and its pulled out. Most merchants have the rubber drain down hoses now, just dont use them under pressure coz they blow
Great content Mark. I go to a lot of new builds using them plasterboard fixings on rads and they all come loose. I always use hollow wall anchors with a setting tool!
Nice video Mark. I used Arctic Haynes Drain off pipe which is orange colour as well and it doesn’t kinks. For the plasterboard fixings, sometime I used the hollow wall anchors plug which need a ratchet to grip it.
Hi mate, cracking vid as ususal, I got the monument drain down hose from toolstation, like £35 for a 15m length, had it about 3 years or so now, doesn't kink or such, cant fault it really👍

Yer just seeing what people are using👍🏼👍🏼
@@MJTiffPlumbing fair play ,tbh I got an £8 Aldi clear braided one that I use so I can see the flow colour great hose just heavy and doesn’t coil up as neat as rubber and turns out I can’t fit it through 22mm to syphon off the hot tank without disturbing the dreaded hot tank destructing hot outlet
Plumber, roofer, mechanic, you dred calling anyone of these robbers.
