  • With her recent bombshell New York Times front-page story, investigative reporter Susanne Craig helped debunk President Trump’s claim of being a self-made billionaire. For more than a year, Craig and two colleagues followed an unwieldy paper trail, documenting deliberate tax manoeuvres that increased the wealth Trump received from his parents, including acts of outright fraud. Craig discusses the complexities of reporting on Trump, money and politics in this conversation with investigative journalist Julian Sher.

Also on a real note. Yea Trump is corrupt. Obama is corrupt. You’re super corrupt if you’re a politician. They legally do insider trading. But ultimately presidents and politicians are bought and paid for. When he did pay, it was often 10-20% of what he actually owed and he would tell them that if they didn't accept that as payment in full, they could try suing him; knowing that these small companies couldn't hire lawyers to go against his big lawyers. He would claim that the work wasn't done on time or was shoddy even when that wasn't the case. .. Basically looking for an excuse not to pay.

I have hated him since the '90's when I found out about him and his father being sued by everybody and their brother over their "marking" of rental applications, to make sure they didn't rent to anyone except whites. That disgusted me to no end, knowing many were Section 8 housing and those people NEEDED a home and his racist ass refused to rent to them.
Then add on his lies (just in general), the hate and division he brought this nation to, the Putin Helsinki closed door talk, then he tells an international press corp that he believes Putin instead of our intelligence community about bounties on the heads of our soldiers, the deal he made with the Taliban, his blatant disregard for the people of this country during a pandemic and making a deadly virus along with the vaccines to keep people from dying, political fodder.
Then when we add in his BIG LIE, his phone call to Raffenspurger, all of the fraudits and recounts he pushed all while gathering the donations for his "election integrity" PAC, and didn't pay for ANY OF IT. He pocketed all of that money, or his family and friends did. Which allowed us taxpayers to pay for the audits and recounts, plus the replacement voting machines they messed up.
Then Jan 6, which he topped off with stealing our NATIONAL SECURITY SECRETS. He is a TRE45ONOUS BASTARD and he needs to rot in prison. How any person in this country can still support him after ALL of that, is beyond me.

My goodness fine journalism truely is at the core of revealing his actual truths. As I (an average citizen) was so disturbed initially by a United States President refusing and completely unwilling to be transparent with his tax documents, as prior Presidents had.
Listening to this particular interview brings such clarity to me, of his hatred of most of the Media that he always speaks of.... Such gratitude to Sue and all that have been so very proactive on behalf of truth, especially during this very disterbing "Trunp era".

What I learned from this that I didn't know before was that while F Trump Sr abhorred debt, DJT not only embraced it but turned it into an art form. The only thing that the two had in common was their grift to gain wealth by manipulating the tax system (e.g. tax avoidance, evaluations, and outright fraud).
At no time in this interview did I hear mention of FT Jr. or who sent the manila envelope with the tax info that got the ball rolling on the investigation. My guess would be that it originated from the other Mary Trump in this sorted saga, Jrs daughter. Those being the tax returns that had to be released during discovery when DJTs niece sued him around the time of Srs death.

Yes it is true what you are saying but for the safety of the GOOD person in Trump crime family, better to not get into it.🧝🏻‍♀️

I will never understand our common modern definition of success. Not if reference to the writer herself but to the successful wall street trader she speaks of. I personally can't imagine having pride in saying your a " successful" wall street trader. What does that mean? That you successfully tricked a bunch of people in to buying stuff they didn't need and you were part of the ever diminishing value of the dollar and the almost bi-decade economic collapses which are then bailed out by john q public and then they still get huge bonuses? And then on top of all that they create nothing. It's just baffling that some can consider that life "successful"

I don't get the question. The easy answer is he was rich due to Fred. If he had just invested Fred's money in an index fund he'd be so much richer. He's sqaudered most of it in ways to get attention.
