Urgghh! I hate slugs, roaches and caddis flies. I've spent many a night in bivvy bags - I prefer to use them inside a hammock or under a tarp, I prefer the hooped bivvy of all them, must have an insect mesh.
We call it Goretex but it's more of a sick joke than an actual reflection of its waterproofing. It's heavy, cumbersome and water resistant for one use.
I prefer the American Bags . Side entrance makes it much easier to burst out .The UK ones once you are battle dressed , kit inside and rifle ….. joke trying to get in and out !!
I'll remember that next timeI go wild camping with mySA80 and full combat dress, but yes in a battle situation you would be more compromised with this bag
@@WiltshireMan I have a similar place near me (where the Danish sisters are immortalised in trees) and have often thought about nipping in there for an evening.
From my point of view the simple bivi is the economical way to start wild camping, obviously they are weather dependant but I do not find the simple bivi in any way restrictive, if I want to sit up I just sit up! Small tents and hoop bivis are restrictive though. As a cheap start up you just need A 2 season sleeping bag A used military bivi A small cookset And a sleep mat Just keep an eye on the weather and you are away!

That was brilliant. Love tarp and bivvi. Did you find any of the Stonehenge sarsens in those woods? Quite a few monoliths in there as well.
I didn't see any on this trip Steve but I am aware of the link to Stonehenge. I shall go back and explore these woods more soon
Mmmm slugs, I have a plentiful supply from my allotment. If you want any as i'm sure there are some the size of goats.
Fried slugs on toast for breakfast Sandy 😋
Ugghhhhh the thought of it:)
Good effort guy’s
Thanks Deano
Escargot Sandy !!!! Sandy how do you camp out in the summer, and the mosquitoes do not eat you up? dit dit
Generally sleep in a shelter with an insect net, I did wear a net over my head on this camp
good vid
What did your noodle pavalo taste like as you never mentioned it or I missed it thank you for sharing
Hi John, To be honest it hit the spot, was very nice
I prefer the American Bags . Side entrance makes it much easier to burst out .The UK ones once you are battle dressed , kit inside and rifle ….. joke trying to get in and out !!
I'll remember that next timeI go wild camping with mySA80 and full combat dress, but yes in a battle situation you would be more compromised with this bag
@@WiltshireMan my days …FAL’s
But given the chance a nice Diemaco C7 would be weapon of choice 😎
Not Devilled slugs for breakfast again Dad!!
As a Wiltshire gal I know where you are. That would proper freak me out although not as much as the slugs! 🙈😳🤣
Haa, yes I guess it wasn't hard to work out the woodland where we camped, a lovely place it has to be said despite the slugs
@@WiltshireMan I have a similar place near me (where the Danish sisters are immortalised in trees) and have often thought about nipping in there for an evening.
Five Stars again. But we didn't get a wrap on the bivi. I guess the slugs did that for us? :)
From my point of view the simple bivi is the economical way to start wild camping, obviously they are weather dependant but I do not find the simple bivi in any way restrictive, if I want to sit up I just sit up! Small tents and hoop bivis are restrictive though.
As a cheap start up you just need
A 2 season sleeping bag
A used military bivi
A small cookset
And a sleep mat
Just keep an eye on the weather and you are away!
