- For those of you who are new to the channel my name is Fen and I am half British and half Libyan and my lovely fiancé Akasha is American but Czech by blood (hence Culture Clash Reactions)
On today's Video, I'm introducing my American Wife to to the legendary Ali G. I myself haven't seen him in action for years and totally forgot how hilarious and outrageous the character truly was.
You need to show your wife Ali G having Victoria and David Beckham as guests in Comic relief. Its hilarius
Oh yes, that's hilarious!
You tellin me you aint never been caught offside?
That was brilliant ! Also the Tony Ben interview. He was brilliant !
That one’s fckin hilarious 😂😂😂
@@wallyjonck9398I see what you did there
"Sasha Bowen Cowen", - your British passport is being revoked, thank you for your services
so he did season 1 in the UK but shortly after the show was so popular that everyone knew about him so going to the US he could get that authentic reaction again and honestly some of the best stuff was from that time
He fooled plenty of Brits before he became well known. It was why he started doing iti in the US.
He went super extreme with Americans and the brits laughed the brits knew.or played along.
You can't get her to watch this without getting her to see him with The Beckhams! It made me cry laughing!
So good... and awkward 🤣
That was great. I loved the way Ali just called him 'Beckham' throughout the interview.
Victoria was brilliant in that interview
@@garyrothwell7185 She really was..I wasn't expecting that, she had a quick counter to everything AliG said (camel-hoof etc), whilst David hardly opened his gob.
It did work in the UK at first. The problem was though that we are a smaller country and he became really popular so people got wise to it more quickly. At first they played along but then people started to feel that even playing along to it was harming their public image and started refusing the interviews. To get around that, Sacha went to America where he was pretty much anonymous and even if a few politicians and scientists began to figure out it was a set up the country is big enough that he could find a new group or area where he was still relatively unknown. You're right too, he started on the 11 o'clock show on Channel 4 in the late 90's and then had his own show for a little while not long after. He then went on hiatus for a short bit once everyone in the UK figured him out before coming back a bit later with Ali G in America. He also did a more recent sketch show in about 2018 roughly on British and American TV (I think it was on Showtime) which was great too. That 2018 show "Who Is America?" was hilarious and I highly recommend checking it out. One of the highlights was him acting like a super-left wing town planner trying to give a presentation to a group of locals from a small town in the Bible Belt about the towns new project to build a super-mosque in the area.
Dennis Pennis was also similar in that sense. Once his face got recognisable he couldn't get at celebs like he used to.
That's longest politest way of saying Americans can be worldly nuave... 😂
Some of those early UK ones are absolute classics, and should be preserved for future generations to see and understand just how out of touch the "ruling classes" are.
Tony Benn saw through him straight away
Like Jeremy Corbyn with the super grooming centres? Or as some may say moskues
The old guy who was talking about the moon was Buzz Aldrin 😂 his literally been to the moon
Did he tho you went with him
@@darrenjones-yb1cq He did. Or were you with him at the time he "supposedly" went? Tho?
Ignore the idiots
He admitted he didn't go 😮
@@marshalllee7991 no he didn’t. Don’t believe edited clips online.
Two Ali G must watches:
- Ali G at the police academy
- Ali G at the farm
wdf is dat, have u seen anyfing like dat!? why is him wearinnnn dat???
@@oogs man ill never forget seeing that for the first time
For those that didn't know, that "old fella" is Buzz Aldrin. The man who followed Neil Armstrong out of the spacecraft to become the second person to walk on the moon.
I choked when he said that, learn some history mofo's
@@PeterJPickles - I don't think Gen Z or young millennials have the first clue about the Apollo missions. They have no intellectual curiosity, generally speaking.
@renejean2523 If you haven't seen it there's a great meme of Neil Armstrong in 1969 and a typical young person in 2019 " went to the moon, took 5 photos. Went to the toilet took 37 photos." 😂
@@PD-jk5hd- lol I like it. Sounds about right.
@@renejean2523only a boomer would come up with that ignorant assertion, and I'm neither gen z or millennial...
I honestly forgot how funny Ali G was! I'm in stitches!!!
I still feel the trauma of high school when every teenage boy would snap their fingers in your face screaming 'booyakasha'. Ali is so funny though
lol
The 'old fella' is buzz Aldrin who landed on the moon.the funniest part of the interview at the end is ali calls him buzz lightyear😂
Ali G did a good job interviewing Brits at the start, in 1998, in The 11 oClock Show, which also kicked off the comedy career of Ricky Gervais.
He featured on a cassette tape attached to a Loaded magazine in 98/99 that was piss funny. Remember listening to it over and over before I actually saw him on TV.
"you picked the wrong cop to f*ck around with slimeball"
"Ok, we don't actually talk like that..."
'EER MEH NAH!"......me & me Julie 🤣🤣🤣
Ali G - the original troll! LEGEND.
Ali G “Science” and “War” are my personal favorites. They never get old lol.
The balls it takes to ask the second man to walk on the moon if he thinks the moon exists XD
The expressions of guy with the glasses on the Homo-sapiens segment always get's me!🤣
Well to be fair, he started in the UK as a “correspondent” on the 11 o’clock show in the 90’s. So it definitely did work there. Probably a combination of him being too well known there and moving to HBO is why it’s mostly Americans
The Philomena Cunk of the West London massive.
To be honest, when my high school debating coach suggested euthanasia as a practise debate, my reaction was "well, what about them?"
Ricky Gervais was on same show
Shout out west staines massive 😂
East Side is da best
Sorry but it was so funny when you said "you dont know who he is" then called him Sacha bowen cohen 😂😂
His first years were in the uk. It worked with anyone who didnt know who he was as people are extra polite on telly
Nice chill atmosphere you two have, great chemistry.
New sub here🇬🇧👊🏻
The show had one of the most iconic opening sequences ever!
Aaaahhh i miss Ali G‼️ ABSOLUTELY NOBODY can beat British comedy. Ha 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤😁😆😆😆👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
As an American who deals with Americans everyday I can say the reason why Americans have such a hard time picking up on humor is because most Americans are caught up in themselves and can't see the humor in anything. We have some of the funniest comedians but we rather cancel them instead of letting them speak their mind. Everyone is caught up in being woke and progressive and don't realize the damage they're causing for future generations. Society is basically trying to turn us into robots
The point of Ali g is the character is from Staines, a posh town slightly outside of London but he tries to talk like a kid from the inner city (unsuccessfully) because he wants to sound cool.
Essentially Britains equivalent to a ‘wigger’ it’s mocking the kids pretending to be from rough areas, not the kids from the rough areas themselves
Staines isn't posh at all, and there's nothing in his jokes that implies coming from a posh background. The joke is just that it's very sub-urban and he talks about Staines vs Eggham youth rivalry like its the Bloods vs the Crips in L.A.
He started off in the UK mate (plenty of his stuff on here, classics like bowling, and British etiquette etc) he had to resort to the US after everyone cottoned on...He started life on the 11 o'clock show. (as did Ricky Gervais)
P.S Brits have fallen for this kind of humour for ages Take Jeremy Beadle for instance (game For a Laugh) or the infamous 'Cake' episode which got loads of famous celebrities duped (Brass Eye)
At 14:40 the guy engaging honestly with his questions, it's too much 😭😭
My condolences with the mariage ! (the misses don't read the comments i hope) and looking forward to more content. Greetings from Belgium
The old guy he was interviewing about the sun and the moon, is Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon.
You tell her she doesn't know who she's talking about then you completely butcher his name😂
Don't think are dumb, think, it's more he had a hit show , for a couple years in the U.K. Don't think people were falling for it. He was recognizable by then. That's why he started coming up with new characters, and filmed more in America.
*Don't think " " are dumb.
* (Americans, was in there) Fuckin autocorrect, I'm laughing at my own comment.
The brits also fell for it. But he also did the show in USA after he became too well known in UK. Btw from what I remember he actually did his master thesis in regards to history.
The Brothers Grimsby - Hiding in an elephant scene is the funniest shit I have ever seen in a movie
The 'old fella' is Buzz Aldrin, second man on the moon.
I think you mean Buzz Lightyear, innit?
The clip didn't include the bit where he asked Buzz Aldrin 'so you went to the moon with Louis Armstrong'
You both didn’t get the youth in Asia joke at first. That was funny.
3:34 … he didn’t know he was predicting the future 🤣 this skit is how people are today.
The old fella was Buzz Aldrin. Ali was this close to getting punched in the nose by an old school badass legend.
Ali G was just ridiculous......and I loved it!
You should watch the TV show, "Who Is America?", still starring Sacha Baron Cohen. Episode 2 in particular is hilarious!
I haven’t laughed so much in such a long time 😂
A limey, a septic and the Staines massive, thanks guys
I remember watching this back in 98-99 -2000 😅😅😅😅
Ali G started with UK celebrities
Once he got so famous here he had to go to America for fresh content, for celebrities who wouldn’t know who he was
Her first answer was totally okay, Sacha Baron Cohen WAS impersonated Ali G!
Dude, he only went to America after he became a sensation in Britain. After a few years of the 9 O'Clock news and at least a season of the Ali G Show, he had to go to America because everyone here knew him.
he is such a genius how he does what he does soo funny i love his character Ali - G
as a brit, this reminds me of so many americans i have met over the years (in the UK). they are nice poeple (mostly........like everywhere on earth), but so easy to take the pish out of. The fact that they will not look him in the eye and call him out for what he is saying..............its just soooo american.
hey Fen and Akasha, you should watch his early stuff cause Ali g actually started off in the UK interviewing all the politicians before he went to the USA :) If you like his content you should watch the film he did called 'Ali g indahouse' funny AF
How patient were those scientists 😂
He did start duping English people but I think as more people became aware of him he needed some fresh victims! By then he'd developed the character more too, probably why you get more vids with Americans ;)
Great guys, he did an interview on Jonathan Ross on you tube about his Ali G character explaining that the idea was to get the person he was interviewing to think he was really daft even before the camera started rolling. Like he said to this US senator when he was in the states "where is we?" the senator goes " The United states" & he went " that's good coz next month I is going to america".
Dennis Pennis pre-dated Ali-G and did much the same. His classic was asking Demi Moore at a red carpet event “How much do you charge to keep your clothes on” at the premiere of Indecent Exposure.
😎😇
A video worth watching is how they now use bees to find bombs instead of dogs.
He has a movie too called "Ali G in da house" which is 100% worth a watch its hilarious 😂
Wait, you’re British, you’re of a certain age and this is the first time you’re seeing these clips? I’m shocked
😂😂😂😂 I m died crying of this compilation 🤣🤣🤣🤣 my stomach hurts!! 😭😭😭😭
Ali G was brilliant, great reaction
React to Ali G - in Wales
Ali G - in da countryside
Ali G was all UK stuff before his own show and his first series. He had to go to the US for his second series (Ali G in Da USA) because he became too well known in the UK
you really gotta show her that joint with David and Victoria Beckham
He wasn't from a council estate. The joke was that he was from wealthy Staines. Staines council famously renamed it to Staine upon Thames so people don't think it's "ghetto" (oh the irony).
Yeah, but the West Side…
Yeah that’s the main part he missed, it’d be a little poor taste if the show was actually just mocking uneducated people from deprived areas.
It was mocking the posh kids who want to pretend they’re something they’re not, which we now have more than ever
What Ali G says is funny, but you gotta know who he is talking to. You referenced the " old fella " when Ali G was talking about the moon. Thats actually Buzz Aldrin that he's talking to. Not just anyone haha.
The old guy was Buzz Aldrin, he went with Neil Armstrong to the moon
a mate gave me a cassette tape of Ali G's first interviews. inclucing the classic one with the English educator/ politician when Ali asks him if kids should be cained in school. i think it was before it was releassd on tv. that was 1997/98. i feel priveladged to have had that tape. i doubt many people had one. also... big up from York! :)
Rhodes Boyson 🤣
Gore Vidal just effortlessly rolled with it
Need to watch both Borat films in their entirety. So many good bits in both
"the old fella" seriously!!!!
I'd love to see a reaction to Philomena Cunk!
Youth in Asia joke was written by Benny Hill back in the day
Love Ali G.
RESTECP :D and thanks for the czech flag ;)
More of this please
Look te movie Ali g in the house 😂😂😂
my husband is 13 years older than me and there's some things that i kinda remember seeing on tv that he remembers watching but the shows had all but come to an end by the time i was 3 or 4 and he was 16 / 17
You should check out his 'This is America '
Ali g comes on at 2:12
the thing that makes the interview at 8:48 a lot funnier is that the man that is being interviewed is buzz aldrin, who went to the moon
Youth in Asia is such a good bit xD
Ali G makes me nostalgic.
The second guy to talk to him about space is Buzz Aldrin. The guy who follow Amstrong down the ladder and thus the second man to set foot on the moon. Sasha Baron Cohen was playing with fire there. Buzz once punched a guy out who keept calling him a liar and that he never went to the moon. The whole thing was caught on camera.
Fury will be back after his christmas day on thursday, and he's got easter in august 🎄
Actually a lot of people think that the space, the sun and the moon doesnt exist they call them self flatearthers
This would work anywhere, including the UK, you only need to look at the brilliant dianna morgan character Philomena Cunk. As mentioned in another comment Sasha's characters became so well known in England and later on in the US with the release of his works there it became more difficult for him to get away without being recognised as an actor. Theyre not interviewing a geezer off the street who might spot it straight away, but 'serious' people - academics, politicians, authors - and the interviews are very carefully planned and made to look like it is the real thing and not a comedian. Also, humans tend to try and please and not cause social displeasure, so they don't call out ridiculous statements which are comedic. Lastly, we don't know how many takes there may have been, although granted this is a different situation than a fictional drama show which may have many takes. Also, look at those hidden camera shows, they work in any country. The US as the largest producer of cultural content is the largest target for criticism.
The funny thing is that there are flat-earthers who do believe the moon doesn't exist but is merely a reflection of the sun upon a dome covering the Earth, and that therefore the moon landing never occurred. Sometimes truth is stranger than comedy.
you should show her original AliG film, which, imho, started this character... bujakabujaka 😊
Tut Tut British husband ... the old moon fellow was Buzz Aldrin.
Mansplaing lesson right here
Youth in Asia is hilarious 🤣
Ali G messed with Brits loads. He didnt just trick Americans
LMFAO
I miss Ali G.
Love Ali G, genius
Ali g was 1st on TV on ch4 late night "11 o'clock show" where he done weekly 5 minute slots late 1999
My boyfriend is American, I'm English and our Humours are polar oppositites is entertaining for me,.. Mt ex husband if a kurdish turk and we still fall around laughing.
Weird ride.
I think the 1080p setting is actually -1080p
“Why is it always Americans?”
- he was completely unknown to America
- Americans are a diverse bunch, and we don’t know how many sub-cultures/co-cultures are in “England”, so the fact Ali may be an extreme caricature, our ignorance of your culture isn’t going to make that so obvious.
- we speak English, so the communication is easier. He could do Argentina for instance, for the above 2 points, but then there would be the language barrier.
So Americans are a great target for him. It’s not offensive - it just gives him a better chance of flying under the radar.
He literally started in the uk interviewing Brit’s.
