You missed the plot. The "shock and awe" crude jokes that jimmy and them can do there won't go over well here. The political satire that Bill Burr does about how we allow our government to rule us etc. would not go over well there. He is saying that to him, jokes about things that matter are "better" than the crude dark jokes Jimmy Carr has. I don't necessarily agree, I think he is comparing apples to oranges here. I think Burr and Carr are masters of their craft.

Americans get political because they love having a message and giving a sermon. It is all about personal expression for them. Brits keep comedy fun, so even if it is offensive, it is not sincere. I’ve also noticed something very recently about gigs in America, when someone tells one of those types of “jokes” (I use joke loosely as it comes across that they’re just expressing an opinion) the audience don’t actually tend to laugh they cheer and applaud it, they just love hearing shit they agree with and will cheer it anywhere.
Its also probably harder to do in the uk at a stand up gig without offending half the audience as in America the states and city’s are red or blue as they say so you’ll probably know when it’s safe to use that stuff where as in the uk people could be coming from anywhere you’re never guaranteed to have a majority audience that will agree with your politics and you don’t want half your audience potentially walking out.

For someone that's into comedy, but thinks that American comedians are more "out there" - I think you should watch more comedians. I didn't even watch the content of your video as I disagree with that statement. But, we all have our opinion!
No WAY are American comedians as edgy as UK ones, not even close!

12:02 I feel like they don't get the joke. The other comedians are not afraid of what Sean is saying, they think it's funny to cut him off and act like he wants to resurrect the Nazi party, when he's clearly going somewhere and has a punchline setup. They're joking about it being the end of his career. It's a joke.

The original Countdown was not made for old people, I have watched it from the beginning which was in 1982 and I was quite young then, a lot of the studio audience are mainly older people but the show has always had a young following because it needs a certain amount of intelligence to play at home and it is a game that you can join in with.

Regarding the intro, at 0:26 the need for emphasizing it usually means you're just as intoxicated (doesn't mean you're lying, but needing to mention it wouldn't be required if you hadn't any at all). Not saying that is the case, just saying that's how it's perceived.
3:05 - Yeah, that's the whole point of being "better" at comedy. Sure, engaging in the PC or political stuff is fine for a joke or two (which nearly everyone does), but to give a whole section dedicated to that would be just giving in to "making fun of each other" divide in the US. Best things you lot should try, is to come together and talk, not to point fingers at each others president candidate "speech impediments" and "getting old" stuff. Talk to a "MAGA"... Talk to a "nazi democrat". Try and frekkin' talk together!
So it's really uncomfortable to hear you (CCR) saying that comics overseas isn't "hitting hard enough", while still being the most offensive comedians. It's a delicate line that unfortunately comedians are the ones to "face", as where politics (and PC language etc) are free to "go crazy" as much as they want, and the more they do the more attention it gets from media.
wow... sorry for that rant. GG

Maybe do some more more research Sir - British comedy is the second jewel in our crown. Americans worship their celebrities', the French, their philosophers, we worship our comedians to an even higher level. Even before Spike Milligan (that's guy that called Prince Charles "A little grovelling bastard " at a award show) and running right the way through, Python and the alternative scene. British comedy has got to the point where if your not seeped in the provence you'll only get half the joke. As for being edgy, we've just had a hugely popular comedy quiz show cancelled because the government put pressure on the BBC to do so because the jokes and satire became too uncomfortable for them , and forget edgy we have really hilarious brutal comics. There are also comics who although still seen on main stream media are reconstructing comedy. Steward Lee in one way, James Acaster in an even more advanced methodology. American comics are extremely funny tending to actual jokes and punch lines, with few notable exceptions, but the more edgy ones are limited by what is considered acceptable by most main stream American audiences even today. Britain has rarely censored comedy with any great success, and we don't have the problem of religion here either, that influence died years ago.
