- A classic story from one of my favorite shows in the UK. My American fiancé has never heard of James Acaster or would I lie to you. Come join us as she genuinely enjoys a memorable moment from a brilliant show.
James Acaster was really funny in as a contestant on Taskmaster. It shows he's more than just a stand up funny guy, he's just got a constant dry, wit about him.

James Acaster is a brilliant comedian. That awkward and brash personality is just too good.
James is one of the funniest. And that’s saying a lot cause everyone on there is amazing.
There's an awesome compilation of Josh Widdicome's podcast over a few months where James tells the story and updates. Josh even gets Mick on the line at the same time as James and gets Micks side of the story too. Really funny all the way through Well worth the listen.

@@BoldRamhen people are "against being woke", the "woke" they mean isn't what people who are for being "woke" means when they use the word.
You see woke as meaning what you said.
People against "woke" mean it as censoring words for no reason, not seeing the difference between satirising attitudes with a subject matter like race, sexuality, and other "hot button topics" and actually being racist, sexist, etc., people overcorrecting, and generally just playing for the gallery.
So it's basically two sides arguing entirely different things. Those viewpoints are not mutually exclusive.

Ignorance is one reason they can't use the correct word they're looking for. The other reason is they're probably just racist, homophobic, misogynistic pricks.

When they have a guest to pick who is related to, the stories they come up with are already ready by them. When the pick up a card to read, then it is when the story is already written and if it is true obviously the one person knows the story if it is true, but if it is not true then they are making lies up as it is the first time they read/hear about this story.

When I was the same age as that boy, the woman opposite us would not let us play football in the street outside our house, threatening to call the police if we did. Their house was constructed, like all the others in the street, the same as ours. The front door opened inwards, there was a corridor and at the end another door which also opened inwards into the same corridor. While they were on holiday I posted a 16 ft 3 inch plank through their letterbox, which dropped in and wedged into the gap between the doors. When they got home, much to my chagrin, I was out. There was a lot of talk around the estate, about the anger and amplified foul language used by the occupants of number 28. Apparently they had only taken a key for the front door, whilst they were away. In the end they had to get a builder to break in through the back door, and then I think, he must have ripped out the corridor door, as the front door remained intact. For some reason the woman used to glare at me whenever we crossed paths, so I was obviously the chief suspect. As Shakespeare said, "revenge is a dish best eaten straight from the fridge", or something like that.
There's a British phrase called "Punching above your weight". You might want to explain that one to Akasha. Ha ha ha! Sorry, I'm just messing.
We sometimes use that expression in the States, too 😂

Judging by comments made on the show, the ‘This Is My…’ section gives the contestants their ‘lines’ before the show, including how it is to be worded, which they are asked to memorise. I’m sure they’d have it written down but for this section they just say it because they already know what it is, or at least any mistakes would be cut out. I also would assume they would meet the person beforehand so they can come up with a story that matches what they look like.
The stories are made up off the cuff. There is no time to practice or think. It's brilliant.

Why would you set it up, then tell Akasha the truth is from James Acaster before watching it? That takes away from the experience. Even if you know the answer, give her a chance to listen and decide for herself. If she becomes unhappy, edit it.

Poor Fen ! Akasha has him gagged and chained to a radiator most of every day, these clips are the only time he's allowed to pipe up , and even then only becase they've OK'd it with us viewers.

When this was aired on BBC1 the for the first time i knew Gabby was lying and i have watched so many reactors reacting to this and nobody has spotted what i spotted about Gabby's story ever. When Gabby said that the other team came up level with them and she had to stamp on the wee mans hand to take him out, how can she stamp on the kids hand, his hand would have been 1-2 meters from her feet so it would have been impossible to reach her leg 1-2 meters in front of her to stamp on the boys hand.
If "the other team came up level" they were catching up to Gabby so they'd be behind her, not in front
@@ragnar97 She said they were level with them as they turned the bend, so she was level with the other kids mother with both their kids hands 1-2 meters in front of them depending on the length of the kids. She would have had to have stretched her leg 1-2 meters in front of her to stamp on that kids hand.

If you had a little more brainpower you would have set it up so she didn't see the thing about James. To bad you ruined it for her. You might say "well, it's at the top all the time when I start the video and make some adjustments..." but again, if you planned it a little bit more and wasn't that lazy, or smarter, then you would have figured out how to fix that. You did some crap with the Kevin thing also. Made a big preample instead of just tell how it works and then show her. Thumbs down.

Nah, Acaster is funny but in an arrogant way and it isn't playing. Bell End tbh and he does that show with Josh Widdecombe which is almost as bad as this bollox. Don't you think this small crowd of British Comedians are like a Cartel on humour? Bring back Frankie !!! and FTT's!!
