Thanks to you and Bailey for all the great, "real life", reviews. I have three no name flashlights I bought at Circle K and Seven Eleven on the cheap when the "mini" flashlights first came out years ago. All three still work and two of them have the original batteries I put in and still going strong. They've gone from car to car, been dropped in the mud and snow and in the house and workshop countless times with no problem. Their the brightest lights I own and have never failed me. *Dance the Skies*
I have always loved gadgets but have been burned most of the time with them. And I've actually thrown my tac light and it still works so I'm not sure what you did to make it not work but I have 2 and they are the best small flash lights I have ever own and they out power all the flash I've ever own large and small. And again the lowes flash light shouldn't even be in the comparison for 2 reason it's a large flash light and it is a fixed focus light.

Ikr ?, but on Ebay still $8. Commercial on here selling them in a pack for $23 each. I'm like I have a solar big battery like 2AA's in one, ones & on Amazon lowest seller was $8.60. Not paying more. I want real army power light though, bit that would cost allot or $50 or $80 at least
I have the tac lite. The original & I've dropped it quite often & it still works like the 1st day we all got one. Husband, mom, & I & they all work to this day & we've had them for over 1 yr.

I got the TacLight Elite and it didn't last a day. The tailcap contains electronics which malfunctioned on mine. It so happens that the tailcap from either of the other two tac lights will fit the elite. I had to mod mine so it would use the 18650 cell. I will have to figure something out on the tailcap of the elite. And on the Tac Light tailcap at 7:37 in the video you just take two precision screwdrivers and insert them in two of those holes on the opposite sides and turn anticlockwise. all it is, is a nut that you unscrew and then you can get at the switch. And thanks for the shoutout James. That was really cool.

Thanks for the video James, good info...and i was on the fence about getting a tac light. Your helper and your candid demeanor sold me on your channel. I've had 8, maybe more, goldens over the course of my life. They make the best friends, each was totally unique and they enrich your life so much they're priceless. But when it comes to practicality or functionality, mine were pretty much useless. That statement comes with a "but," and that is that i never trained nor expected them to be anything more than what they were, priceless friends.

Man, I know this video is old as. I just got a taclight (original) as a Christmas gift as I was looking at a bunch of ‘tactical torch’ videos on RUclips. Taclight wasn’t on my radar till I got given one. Nice reviews, cool videos. Now I know not to drop my Taclight OG. The first thing I asked by my partner when she gave it to me was ‘have you got the receipt in case of it stopping working?’ Just in case of an ‘accident’ like yours I know that the shops I go to are very good with replacing items when they have issues. My grandpa had a big ol' red Mag Light that weighed a ton to my little kid arms at the time and when i held it after I got older I can tell you, you could probably blind someone with that thing then club them over the head with it and the thing would still work while the person you hit was on the floor with a concussion. It was a sturdy flashlight and bright as hell.

The lantern feature makes the Elite or Pro model the superior light to me...that and the magnet! I bought 1, but for $14.99 off ebay...still in original plastic. Kind of a bummer they do not include a start up set of aaa batteries!
something to consider....the lowes lite has a set focus, you were comparing it to tac lite with full wide beam and no center focus, so yeah the lowes will appear brighter.... IF u adjust the tac lites to a 50% zoom it will develop the center region and seem similiar to the lowes.... apples to apples bro
That's not what everyone else witnessed. Watch it again... he did eventually (finally) zoom in both flashlights, Two as one and they looked weak compared to the other brand. Don't take my word for it just watch the video again... its right there in your face. It's around the 4:15+ time.
@@WoodJammer like I said in another post can't compare them to each other for 2 reasons ones a small flash light and one is a large flashlite 2nd one is a fixed focused light and the other is adjustable. If you took the center bright spot out of the lowes it would not be brighter on the close up wall and no he never zoomed the tac light on the up close wall and the center of the tac light was always brighter.
@@bomani699 are you implying the demonstration was rigged? Everyone saw the bigger flashlight was brighter on a +/- 60ft shine off. I agree with you there should have been other testing of objects further away with a focused beam which may have vindicated the smaller flashlights. A test beam could be performed in a parking lot on objects beginning with 100ft away until said flashlights couldn't identify the target. Are you ok with that reasoning?
I'm not sure the Tac Light Elite is the only one with the magnetic base. I have a regular Tac Light that has that feature, and the rear button is black. I also had the button stop working, but noticed when I was screwing it back on, at certain points it would work. Out of curiosity, I pulled on the inner contact spring to maybe make better contact. I also shoved the button/magnetic base inwards, as I notice it had moved. Now it works maybe 75% of the time. It's not the greatest solution, but it's better than nothing.
Good info. I have never seen a magnetic Tac Light, but I think they used to offer a "deluxe" model, so maybe that's what you have? Did your tail cap look like either of the ones I showed here?

Obviously this is three years in the future and i hope Bailey is doing well and healthy..now for the flash lights, no where near as bright as they advertise, and i was abit disappointed you didn't try and make a fire that they claim they can do. I really have my doubts that any of those lights can burn a cardboard box. Imo they are good for hiking or any outdoor activities, but I'm pretty sure if you shopped around you could find a brand that is 1, more bright 2, more rugged. But a very good review none the less. And Bailey brought abit of comedic cuteness to the video.
This past Christmas, I bought myself the TacLight. And I got one for my mom as one of her gifts. I haven't abused mine. Or really test it. But I do think that it is bright enough. So far I like mine.

It may not be as bright as the regular tac light, but as someone who lives through at least two power outages a year? I'll take the elite. The lantern feature is why...not being a 360 means I can sit it in the room near me and face it away from my eyes. Once eyes adjust, a side facing lantern will be a LOT of light without assaulting my eyes like the 360 lanterns that straight up blind you.
You should try sending it in for the lifetime guarantee. Most of the as seen on TV lifetime guarantees are bullshit and it'd be good to see this. I have a Red Copper product with a lifetime guarantee but you have to pay the shipping *both* ways which works out to about $25 on a $20 pan so it's not much of a guarantee at all.
Hey there appears to be new taclight commercials going around claiming that it can be used to start fires, and even burn thru "ANY MATERIAL". Any thought on this newer one? They also claim its a $600 flashlight, but sells for 90 and i apparently just happened to look at it on the day its on sale for half off, meaning only $45 for the $600 flashlight
The Lowe’s light is already zoomed in buddy it comes that way out of the box and when zoomed the tax light it was brighter and cheaper and more functions so not sure what you were trying to prove with that.
At 3:49 the tac light is extremely bright. then seconds later when you compare the same light to the Lowe's, it doesn't light up the same area as well.

I agree. But, did you see how bright the tac light was when he first turned it on? It was sooo bright for a second, then dimmed down to a mediocre light.
Yes i noticed this to, I wonder if it's due to the battery output, I doubt it but just a though. But why not be as bright all the time? That confused me abit tbh.
IMO the lantern feature is just one more mode for the thing to put itself into by accident. I swear every time one of my flashlights starts strobing when I bump it on something. Now you can have one that also shifts to lantern mode.
I use the nite-core key chain flashlight because it's not cumbersome like a standard flashlight, plus 480 lumen is plenty for me and it's rechargeable. I got one on eBay for like $10 so even if it breaks it's not a huge loss. Also baby bailey is such a cute pupper
As far as the boxes claims: I think they always use the cheapest flashlight for comparison. 22x brighter, for only 24x the price, based on a dollar store flashlight that would last (usually) at least 5 min. I'll stick with the non-seen-on-tv brands here.
This is the reason I have more than one flashlight around, lol! I'm a klutz so multiple backups means there should be at least one that works (and boxes of batteries, of course). It's embarassing to admit how many I actually have in my purse alone (3, I think). You can never have too many flashlights around. And Bailey is a cutie, have a Lab/Golden mix who is a big doofus too.

Seems like the taclight divides both the long range and close range vision using the zoom, so you can only use either one of the other or somewhere in between. Another pro of the taclight is at close range it doesnt have that bright center compared to the lowes one. While a regular flashlight is a good balance between close and far.
Great review. Not sure it was manufactured to do so, but it was a good thing the impact caused it to turn on (so you can find it in the dark). Yes, I know most likely, it would already be on - lol. I have two tac-lights...well, I have over 70 flash-lights (I collect them, old to new) and my best one, or one of my best ones? It's a Duracell 1000 Lumens I bought at Costco for 12.99. It's like having the sun in the palm of your hand, has all the features and IS waterproof (rubberized end cap and front complete with o rings) It takes 3 "C' CELL batteries (which I prefer over charging) and has been dropped, used in the rain and still outperforms BOTH my tac-lights. 12.99, regular 19.99, what a bargain for a good light. It has a 35 hour run-time on low mode which is still pretty bright too...and a 5 hour run-time on high. It looks and reminds me of your one from Lowes...only it has 1000 lumens instead of 650. The best thing about the Tac-lights are the commercials...lol....(although they are both still working) but I find the run-times to be very short compared to a hand full of others I have. I am a collector of sorts, have almost 80 flashlights now....two of my "best" came from Costco. Both are 1000 lumens, fully adjustable....similar to your Lowes brand. They both WAY out-perform my Tac light. I have an "Energizer pen-light"....my go-to light. It has a lifetime warranty, seemingly indestructible and will take the eyes out of your head lol. Anyone else out there have a flashlight fetish? I must say LED technology was and is a quantum leap over the "bulb."
James, there's something new you might want to check out and do a review on? It's called the Tac Bat, it's a flashlight that I guess does the same things as the tac light, but it's bigger and extends, and I think you can use it as a weapon for protection or something? I like my taclight, except for two issues. 1st, only one button that I constantly have to cycle through to turn it off, I just want to turn it on and off in one click. 2nd, when it gets low on battery it gets dimmer, I want a flashlight that stays maximum brightness until it can't anymore.

2:08-Right is brighter IMO....I do like the lantern option....ya Home Depot & Lowes have some great flashlights

I agree. But, did you see how bright the tac light was when he first turned it on? It was sooo bright for a second, then dimmed down to a mediocre light.
Yes i noticed this to, I wonder if it's due to the battery output, I doubt it but just a though. But why not be as bright all the time? That confused me abit tbh.

IMO the lantern feature is just one more mode for the thing to put itself into by accident. I swear every time one of my flashlights starts strobing when I bump it on something. Now you can have one that also shifts to lantern mode.

I use the nite-core key chain flashlight because it's not cumbersome like a standard flashlight, plus 480 lumen is plenty for me and it's rechargeable. I got one on eBay for like $10 so even if it breaks it's not a huge loss. Also baby bailey is such a cute pupper
As far as the boxes claims: I think they always use the cheapest flashlight for comparison. 22x brighter, for only 24x the price, based on a dollar store flashlight that would last (usually) at least 5 min. I'll stick with the non-seen-on-tv brands here.
This is the reason I have more than one flashlight around, lol! I'm a klutz so multiple backups means there should be at least one that works (and boxes of batteries, of course). It's embarassing to admit how many I actually have in my purse alone (3, I think). You can never have too many flashlights around. And Bailey is a cutie, have a Lab/Golden mix who is a big doofus too.
Shhhhhhhhh!!!! You are giving away the best kept secret about the Lowe’s Luxpro lights! They have CREE LED’s and are a steal for what they cost. Especially the rechargeable ones with the larger batteries instead of AA size.

I was looking for the tank light Flash light that was able to start fires as they showed on the ad, was I looking at a different ad nobody seems to be talking about that or testing it,…!????????????????
Seems like the taclight divides both the long range and close range vision using the zoom, so you can only use either one of the other or somewhere in between. Another pro of the taclight is at close range it doesnt have that bright center compared to the lowes one. While a regular flashlight is a good balance between close and far.
Great review. Not sure it was manufactured to do so, but it was a good thing the impact caused it to turn on (so you can find it in the dark). Yes, I know most likely, it would already be on - lol. I came here after seeing a facebook ad. Is this the one showing it staring fires, burning through items and even used to cook eggs?
I only watched the ad because it had features of a "Lazer" and would need a special case, just in case ;-)

I have two tac-lights...well, I have over 70 flash-lights (I collect them, old to new) and my best one, or one of my best ones? It's a Duracell 1000 Lumens I bought at Costco for 12.99. It's like having the sun in the palm of your hand, has all the features and IS waterproof (rubberized end cap and front complete with o rings) It takes 3 "C' CELL batteries (which I prefer over charging) and has been dropped, used in the rain and still outperforms BOTH my tac-lights. 12.99, regular 19.99, what a bargain for a good light. It has a 35 hour run-time on low mode which is still pretty bright too...and a 5 hour run-time on high. It looks and reminds me of your one from Lowes...only it has 1000 lumens instead of 650. The best thing about the Tac-lights are the commercials...lol....(although they are both still working) but I find the run-times to be very short compared to a hand full of others I have. I liked your review! Good job!
I am a collector of sorts, have almost 80 flashlights now....two of my "best" came from Costco. Both are 1000 lumens, fully adjustable....similar to your Lowes brand. They both WAY out-perform my Tac light. I have an "Energizer pen-light"....my go-to light. It has a lifetime warranty, seemingly indestructible and will take the eyes out of your head lol. Anyone else out there have a flashlight fetish? I must say LED technology was and is a quantum leap over the "bulb."
James, there's something new you might want to check out and do a review on? It's called the Tac Bat, it's a flashlight that I guess does the same things as the tac light, but it's bigger and extends, and I think you can use it as a weapon for protection or something? Anyway check it out. I like your reviews they are very helpful in helping people not to make a mistake and buy a bad product . Thanks

It's crazy!
I like my taclight, except for two issues.
1st, only one button that I constantly have to cycle through to turn it off, I just want to turn it on and off in one click.
2nd, when it gets low on battery it gets dimmer, I want a flashlight that stays maximum brightness until it can't anymore.
Yep. Lowes is brighter, but zoom, and lantern features may be a factor.
What about starting a fire with the flashlight? The commercial says at close range it can burn plastic, metal etc!
