I like to shadow at the beginning of a training session just after skipping.
It's a great time to arrange your training thoughts and goals before pads, sparring, bag, etc.
Why do fighters touch their nose so much?
@@jossgowerI study body language and martial arts so I'm so glad someone else noticed it because I've been trying to figure it out myself! With this though It could be a couple of reasons. When doing cardio I tend to get a kinda runny nose, and breathing so much makes it tickle my nostrils so that's part of it, but I also find that I often will wipe my nose as a self soothing activity to calm myself down just a little. Much like when people stroke their beard or pull their hair to relieve stress. You can see Gabriel doing it here usually after a long or strenuous combo. It kinda recenters you when you've just done something stressful.
@@smertonosnyibratni Yes, i box regularly and sometimes i do it for the reasons you state but its almost like boxers do it because "it makes you look like a boxer" lol... might also be a method to get your guard back up to your cheek?
I'm 39 & suffered many hand fractures from street fights. The bag is brutal on my paws. I'm only a couple weeks into it. Do you think I should hit it every other day until I recondition them & spend twice as much time shadow boxing on off days? Or should I keep pounding these lobster claws & man up?
@@cooldynamix6717 Hitting the bag without gloves on won't really do much to condition your hands, more likely it'll teach you to punch softer as an adaptation to injury prevention. In a street fight youll revert to your training and its better to break a knuckle and win then to get plowed through because you're fighting too cautiously.
A lot of tips to improve my shadow boxing here! Thank you.
So great to see pro-tips. I like very slow shadow boxing to work on perfecting moves. Most often, I notice some "imperfections" sometime in my footwork, sometime in punch, equilibrium, etc... But, focusing on the mindset seem's very interresting. I'll try it. Thank.
I would like to see a video on how you deal with injuries : how to avoid them before and during the figth (beside the obvious, working on defense ==> for example, what are the most dangerous strikes to avoid, or how to protect ourself efficiently while attacking). How to train when you are injured, and so on. (Obviously it depends on the type of injury)
I'll put one together. It's been requested a few times by others so I need to get to it.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I ❤️ this video. Just started kickboxing and was looking for this kind of video from great quality! Thank you 🙏
Glad to hear it's helpful.
Enjoy your kickboxing. Such a great activity ❤
And the level beyond yours is taking damage while shadow boxing,Baki Hanma style :)
Maybe because you are experienced professional who is training against an upcoming fight, but for any beginner or ordinary person I think the slow one is better. Of course, full speed is OK once the accuracy has been attained - however the brain does not understand speed during the time of laying these important foundations (tho speed will come when it is required). Tim Larkin did a recent one on that: 'Speed Vs Accuracy'.
I needed this, thanks for the upload!
I'm glad it helped you out.
Wow that’s some crisp shadow boxing
I finally found a great tip on how to shadow boxing. I am a beginner so I will need to start from the easiest. I normally heard people told me to imagine and re-created a real fight with shadow boxing. Honestly as a beginner, I don’t know how or what to imagine. 😅
The martial artist Grant Stevens also has a superb tutorial on shadow boxing. From beginning to end 😊
@@Niborino9409 Thanks. I will look him up.
I usually do 70% offence and 30% defence. What do you guys think about that?
Looking dapper in those glasses
That was amazing..I could see your opponent!
A great idea would be to imagine the legends of the sport and do the imaginary fight as a shadow boxing according to what you think you can do to beat them.
Man thats so much knowledge!! Wish I could train in your gym
Gabriel really kills it in those shades, he should wear them more
Keep up the great videos!!!!
Great tips, thanks!
Imagine how cool it would be to just go to the park and then see world champ Gabe Varga just shadow boxing like a boss
Awesome Video!!! Really helpful with correcting shadow boxing forms.
Glad it was helpful!
Outstanding man you look like a video game
Pretty good advice. Thanks a lot
I'm stating the obvious but great movement, great channel, very inspiring.
Thanks Man, love the videos and the tips. Learning loads
Love shadowboxing you can get imaginative creative. 🥊 Slam a mattress against the wall and beat it spinning back fists knees elbows jabs kicks etc.. No excuse 3 min rounds x 5. 🔟🥊🤔
You are a superb coach.
Thank you my friend!
I'm exhausted by just watching "your" shadow boxing 🤣🤣💪🏻😷
east gabriel your videos are epic, one thing i don't know why everyone has started doing this thing in videos where it is cut in a way that it suddenly jumps it is very distracting can you not do that? I would be interested in a video on how to block a sweep and how to fight someone who flows flurries of punches without becoming overwhelemed like pacquio style when they slip your jab say how to evade their onslaught. And what to do when someone is throwing 5-6 punch combinations so to not get overwhelmed. thanks ( i find if you catch them clean in the middle of their flurry that deters them obviously but wondering if any specific techniques that work well against these ultra agressive fighters who throw 5-6 shot combos. ) keep up the good work it is good a champion like you is putting in the time to educate. very inspirational keep up the good work
Wish I had u as my coach coming up...
Top notch champ 🏆 thanks
great tips...TNX. and please tell me about the length and repeat. thank you again

Ofcourse i want you to succeed and have a huge following but my greed want you to stay not known and keep your teachings less shared more for just us!!!! Awesome contents for Kickboxing man!!!
Thx champ! And gratz to winner
I'm happy if you enjoyed the video. More to come soon.
HEY MAN great video ! Do you think , that kicks are usefull in streetfight ?
great video
The special technique of shadowboxing.
Hey Gabriel good video ! what do you think of doing heavy bag work everyday? I want to condition my shins. Would it be ok to kick the bag 200x each leg everyday after skipping rope
That seems fine to me. Sounds much better than hitting your shins with a bottle like some people do 😜
I don't do lots of bag work. Maybe 10 rounds per week but it's great if you're doing a session solo.
awsome
so funny, at the tolmie reservoir! lol
Thank you for the video master
The best shadow boxing ever I saw is of Andre Ward
I always feel awkward throwing kicks when shadow boxing
The sunglasses are sharp. Are they a sponsor?
Nope. Just my Ray ban aviators
Do you visualise oponent throwing exact punch on you while ducking or blocking? Like for example each time you block left hook do you inagining oponent throwing it? Or its just muscle memory thing?
My idol
🙏🙏🙏
🥊 🙏
Can you teach this in slow-mo ?
One question how much time should i shadowbox
