I honestly think you might be putting out the best striking related content on youtube right now, and I pretty much watch them all. If nothing else, I feel like a ton of professional mma fighters should be reaching out to you as well
hes my go to for sparring advice i need when my coach isnt there and it WORKS hes no bs wish hed put some footage of himself doing it like mmashredded tho thats my favorite when you see it being implemented wrong and right
Another tip during this solo drilling is to really focus on your eyesight. This head movement drill is fantastic but as stated you need to make sure you don't accidentally slip into a punch. Having stellar eyesight will help with that. Imagine an opponent and lock your eyes on them during this training.
Thank you sooo much! I just started boxing but know there are moves within boxing that could not be applicable to a street fight or mma or Muay Thai. Head movement and the footwork is some thing that I’m struggling with I want to learn techniques that would be both applicable in self defense or Muay Thai and discard whatever boxing techniques that aren’t applicable to those scenarios. Thank you!
This is fire ass content this is coming straight from a champ exactly what’s happening in his fights a lot of people would just say their reactions that fast
Another tip for beginners would be throw like 2 3 shots and then start slipping 2 3 times and go back to throwing shots. See alot of people shadowbox that they throw a 10 hits combo standing still and THEN they start moving their head, that's bad habit
@@connerkubitz7208 believe it or not, alot of folks know this and still throw 10x combos while standing still in shadow boxing, me 1 year ago included xD
Hey Gabriel, I just want to thank you for such high quality content from a real pro. I've gotten back to martial arts after a few years layoff due to injuries and simply life, and as fun as it is, I'm not as good as I used to be. These drills, concepts, and training tools you provide is helping me to evolve my game on a weekly basis. Thanks again!
Great answer, so many coaches teach you slipping as if you are going to see punches coming. Every boxer slips punches from just moving a lot whether or not he thinks a punch is coming or not. Nobody is superman you can't see strikes coming 90 percent of the time just keep moving that head!
I love this. I recently taught my student how to practice getting his head off centerline when punching. I will start having him drill slipping during pad work like this now.
Great video Gabriel. I also use a tennis ball on an elastic string hung off a beam to practice head movement. It can be quite unpredictable if you pop the ball with a few jabs and it swings around in different directions. I’d really like to see a video on shadow boxing but with kicks incorporated. I’d love to get your advice on how to make the strikes from both punching and kicking more fluid. Thanks 👍
Awesome video!! I like the fact that while I'm watching your videos and a question pops up in my mind, you seem to have anticipated it and cover it in the same video!! It would be a great follow up to this video to get your expertise on the more technical aspects of slipping (ie technique, footwork, counter attacks to look for, common errors, etc)
One of the best content for striking trainee. Solid advice. The sport is dynamic, preferably change tempo, rythm and defence to prevent being read easily I guess.
Thank you Gabriel I am currently in lockdown so I cant go and spar in my gym. This seems like an excellent drill to do from home . Thank you for the excellent content !
So many great vids answering so many questions I've had for ages! really appreciate it, this channel has been an invaluable source of inspiration through a really weird year! gone from sitting around feeling old to training loads again :) massive thanks from Essex cheers mate
Hey Gabriel, if you haven't already I would appreciate a video on front kicks. (It is by very far my strongest kick) Great video as always, even if it was on the spot. Thanks a lot champ.
This may sound like a silly question, but I wonder, where should I look to predict my opponent’s next move? Gloves, legs, body? Is there an approach that works best most of the time? Is there a specific way to train that skill? Context: kick-boxing: Muay Thai
@@trejohnson2769 sounds good. I tend to look at the torso, to gather both legs and shoulders with peripheral vision, but I could be going too Kobra Kai about this 😭
This was helpful I think. I’m an old fart with trash reaction time, so it makes sense to already be moving in the first place, as opposed to waiting for a punch to come to you.
@Gabriel Varga: Did you ever discussed the kickboxing styles (wako) "light contact" and "kick light". Would love to hear your pro's and con's and your tipps regarding those disciplines. Did you ever made a Video about pointfighting? Best regards and thx for your content!

do you mean like dividing( chunking) the shots with slipping? like ok I wanna throw a 4 hit combo... 1-2 ( slip x2) 3-4 (slip x2) ?
such a strong and humble man not many are like this

Love those fast jabs! Mine seem to take a lot longer to land, on the heavy bag at least.
Just what i needed
TBH, it was the best video about slipping I've ever watched.

Very clear and easy to follow

👍 Great tip.... I try to mix slip/catch/block in my shadow boxing patterns intentionally
Your movement is so smooth and technical it’s quite a site to see!
Super useful and realistic. This is really helpful ans the insights are pure gold. Thanks!

Gabriel nice video! One question! Do you prefer "pivoting" your feet when slipping or do you prefer using only your waist?
"Welcome to the Fighting Sport Masterclass, The Channel"
This is what the elite boxers do, this is how you get some nasty ass hands

My favorite example for this is pacquiao
Slip for not sleep
Like Bruce Lee said; be an owl my friend when you assess distance

Head movement head movement lol
It means that you are not lasy or dumb to take a punch After a combo
Why does he look like a he is asleep (on the Thumbnail)? 😂
it was probably just the auto thumbnail that RUclips set
Why do you film your videos with your lower body out of shot? 🙄
You read comments?
I thought you didn't because you don't reply nor give Hearts
He reply fairly often to comments especially for a man who isn't using RUclips as his source of revenue.
