Thank you for this video! We went to a local business that is like a little farmer's market in a big barn and they were selling some boxes of sweet bell peppers (they came in boxes that look like yours) and we took them home and found a piece of paper that was some kind of receipt from an Amish auction! So we thought "Oh neat, the business bought these from an auction and then we bought them from them, but what if we just started going straight to the auction ourselves?" so that is the plan for this summer!
Hi Laurie! Anytime we go to the auction there are a lot of market people that are buying to resell. They buy anywhere between three and 20 boxes of each vegetable. We have to sit and wait for the big lots to get done before we can get to the produce that they will sell in smaller lots. I hope you find a great auction and have a fun time. You can sure learn a lot! blessings on your produce search! 😁
Another really informative video, so thank you Penny. Thanks for the idea of breading and freezing items for cooking later on. Will keep an eye out for suitable items to do that for sure. Happy Sunday.x
Apples are labor intensive for me, but totally worth it! I make apple pie filling, apple sauce, apple butter, and I'd like to dehydrate them too one day but I have to get a dehydrator for that.
Yes Laurie, they can be very intensive. I have preserved apples all of those ways as well as dehydrating. My family likes the dehydrated apples so much that I could barely keep up with them. I would have to tell them to at least let the jar sit one day so I can feel like I’ve accomplished something before they devour it. 😂 I hope you can find a dehydrator before too long because it really is an easy way to preserve your apples. Blessings!
I never dreamed that I would even think about that Lisa, but this year sure made me think. We are enlarging the garden for next year. We’ll see what God‘s plans are! Thanks so much for watching and for your comment. I always love hearing from you.
Hi Marion, I bought this little kit from Amazon and it has a booklet in it that tells how to do several kinds of easy cheese. Very easy and it contains cheese salt, citric acid, and rennet. It has everything you need! I love it. Here is the link… amzn.to/46DdF5V I hope you are doing well! Blessings!
You said you got your feet wet making mozzarella cheese? Who told you how to make it- someone that usually makes wine? LOL It would pay me to shop at Lilac Lane store and to stop by for a cup of coffee before my long trip back to FL I'll pass on the cheese sandwich. Haha.
Oh how very exciting! How nice that the entire family got to go with you! You got some REALLY good deals! I am curious how the jalapeno peppers work being frozen like that. Sometimes cream cheese is altered with being frozen
Hi Angela! Actually, I cooked some of them last night. I put them in the oven frozen at 375° for 25 minutes. The cream cheese did flow out just a hair around the pepper but the bacon did a good job at holding it all together. I just scraped up the cheese with the pepper and it was delicious! The top of the bacon was not as crunchy as I would’ve liked, but it was great. The ones that Mark and I cooked before I froze all of them were cooked on the grill (a suggestion by the person I got the recipe from.) They were exceptional! Thanks so much for watching I know you’re a busy lady! Blessings on all your harvesting. ❤️
I would love to go with you!! 😂 What a neat experience! Prices were wonderful, and the produce looked so fresh. I'm going to make butternut and acorn squash soup today. Apple rings and mozerrella cheese looked so yummy! Thank you for sharing this experience. 🍅🫑🍎🌶🥓🥛 My kids would have loved the mini carts. 🛒
We’ll come on!!! 😂 I love going so much! Of course, it always means work has to be done when I get home. But I love that too. I love the idea of butternut and acorn squash soup. I made butternut soup the other day and it was delicious. Thanks so much for all your kind words! I should’ve taken a picture of leaving because my grandson was not happy about leaving his cart behind. They loved it! Thanks so much for watching and for your comment! Blessings friend! ❤️
Hi Jessica! If you go to Kuntry Bulk Grocery store-here’s a link… maps.app.goo.gl/pD37HzLSzRTruanr8?g_st=ic Then go east to Amish School Road and turn right you will dead-end into the driveway where we get our milk. You just drive up to the barn and go inside and there’s usually someone there, but if not their directions on the wall as to what to do. You need to take your own gallon jars and correct cash ($4/gallon) Enjoy!
I just got a steam canner and boy is it a game changer. It saves so much water and so much time! Glad to see you got one as well!
Oh my! That sounds amazing! I will have to figure out how to use it that way! 😁😁😁
Thanks so much for the info! Blessings!
Boy, you got all that produce for a steal. The popper looked delicious.
Thanks Judy! I was very pleased with our total price! 😁
