    Solo clapping for Gil Parris, “I’m not worthy, I’m not worthy”. Praise God for the talent that Gil Parris and each of the talented
    musicians have been given, the joy that they have shared, and for working through the equipment and algorithms that make it accessible to many. Also, when possible remember to support local musicians. I miss going to Open mic nights in Oakland, CA.

    I have always loved the tone Nathan East gets from his Yamaha TRB 6 string bass. Haven't heard a bass that sounds like it; love the way it sits in the mix in studio and live settings. Of course, the person playing it has a lot to do with that also...respect.

    • @onzkicg
      @onzkicg 5 лет назад +1

      Infidel14? I love his tone too.. Every time I see him play, makes me think “sounds great & oh looks easy”.. because I never seen him flex/move too much, he’s so relaxed! then I grab my bass to try, and I’m back to reality:)

    • @vidmooreda
      @vidmooreda 2 года назад

      I think Nathan East is the only person I like on a Yamaha bass. I had a Jeff Berlin edition at one time but just didn't like it. I was also nowhere the player I am now, so things change. Anyhoo, East really compliments that bass (or the other way around).

      Yeah, he's great. Definitely will check out more of his playing. (And for the tone, note the original Jeff Beck signature Strat was very close to this guitar, an early 1990's Strat Ultra, I think.)

    Amazing. This tune represents so much regarding the Civil Rights Movement of the 60’s and the struggle for Equal Rights. But never had I known that this “funky blues ditty” was written by this dude who witnessed the horrors of the Holocaust in his native Austria, a guy who played acoustic piano like hell on fire in his early Jazz years, who later founded the inimitable Weather Report with Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorius and Peter Erskine, at its core, who further founded his own post-fusion ensemble, the man known as the late-great Joe Zawinul. So very glad I got to hear Weather Report circa 1981-1982 at the JVC Jazz Festival at Lincoln Center in New York. Man, the late-great Bill Evans (“Blue in Green” with Miles Davis from the “Kind of Blue” album) had passed away right before that time, so I never got to hear Bill play live (Damn, God!). Mr. Nathan East here again, I’ve nicknamed him the “Ron Carter” of Electric Bass cuz dude be ev’rywhere lol. Great post, thanks. It’s good to cry a little sometimes... that’s why we’re Human! 🤓

    Always good for me to listen to musicians far greater than me. Wonderful when master bassist Nathan East played a solo that other players kept playing and supported him. So many times if a bassist plays a solo everyone but the drummer abandons supporting him.
