I wonder what Gershwin would have thought of this stunning eleven minute journey through and around his original song. The teamwork and skill of these musicians is amazing and together they create pure joy. It is the best modern jazz version of Summertime I have ever heard. Not a musical cliche in sight and the original is still there throughout. What a treat. Thank you so much, gentlemen.
Whoever that sax player is he's underrated! That cat has some sick skills, omg... Like to hear him play some more tunes!!! Great jam session! Thank-you
These are definitely some of the best players on the planet, all members are top CATS, and John V. Sr. Is the best Sax player I’ve ever heard in my life! Way better than Coltrane and other “Giants.” He’s got guts, soul, and Mr. Johnny V SR - I never heard of you or your Uncle but am going hunting for your music because as a Sax player, you are seriously inspiring! Keep Groovin’!
I loved the original of this track when I was a kid in short trousers but I never imagined it could be made to sound this funky - the total class of this track restores my faith in humanity - we might just make it as a species yet.
Hello to you !!! We are a french jazz group based at French riviera and mosly we see your jams for learning and inspirations. Thank s a lot Very Nice If you plan to go in France don t hesitate !!! Andres
these guys are awesome! This is now my fav version of summertime! the Viavattine family totally crushes it! Mark Golden Im going to have to check him out too
When you record a song, it might as well be the most recorded song in history, great love of music, you guys knocked it out of the park, I am very pleased to include your moment in time, in my new playlist of over 40 renditions of Summertime, thank you!!!
Just discovered this video a couple of weeks ago. I must have listened to it at least two dozen times. So far only 274k views in 3.5 years? It deserves 274 million! For a "jam session" recording, it seems so tightly put together, it reminds me in some ways of the late 1950s and early 1960s Horace Silver Quintet in terms of cohesiveness of the band members. Well done there!
There have been some funky versions of this going back to the 60's (George Benson's original take for example) but yeah, this one is very different. I got the impression from the start that the drummer wasn't that familiar with it - in a way, that probably helped because he just made something up, rather than copying anything that's been done before. That gave the tune a unique feel.
This group is the best of all the formations of the Jmas, because besides being very technical, they manage to make a pleasant sound ... there are moments that more is less
Wow, thx all the musicians. Everybody with Great solos! Never thouht, that summertime can be done in this spectacular way. Some Parts with Carribean touch. Great pleasure! Trumpet 6:50 ongoing - These notes
This is great!! I always liked that song. The sax player is hot!! Really nice solos and improv. Happy New Year to all of you with love and hugs. Have a very blessed year!!
Sensational . Congratulations. It would be possible to achieve the score of the tenor , John Viavattine ? I thought the great canal. A hug to everyone .
Good Job guys, Shesus, must be FAMILY, that interplay on the verse before the solos, between sax and trumpet was Masterly, WOW, the uncles paradiddles unsurpassed would have made louis blush, the sax, especially wailing bending milking those 9ths etc nice counter point , gtrists 1st solo preferred, little more Dorian the 2nd solo as a Pink Floyd copy didnt quite make it for me, though altogether a very nice combo and version Thank You
This is one of my favorite performances and song ever. I want more of all you guys. Totally awesome jams!!!

Superb many thanks
wonderful music facinante de primera
Si existe el cielo, imagino que habrá un ligar especial para los músicos.
This is so cool. This is everything I want to do as a musician, but it's so hard to find people to play with unless you're a music major.
That depends, do you study music by yourself or in a conservatory ? You can easily find musicians with your level there.
Trumpet improv was killer!
Wow the guitar knows how to compliment the bass!
