Here is my conclusion so far is that in humid climates if it doesn't allow moisture/water to pass through when the headlight drastically changes temperature compared to ambient it wont be able to breathe and vent properly. I want to see what vents the factory quad headlights have on them when I take them out. The aftermarket ones I showed don't have an issue and are using the same design just with a 90* hose on them.
It should be the same but I think they are in grey color.
Having the same issue in my 2014 with quad lights. Were you able to fix yours by just removing the filters?
Where can you get the adapter
How are they holding up with that filter removed did that give you a fix ?
It’s always the driver side
No shit - whats that about ? The same fool on the assembly line always working the drivers side headlight :)
same here
I’m glad you posted this! My new to me 15 Ram 3500 does this.
Dude I picked up a 2016 ram Laramie and every video you’re putting out on these rams is hitting the nail on the head for my conversion lol
Added gtr hid lows and gtr led highs and adjusted the vent caps while doing the job as i was having condensation issues as well. 2 years later and no condensation since. Vents were as you stated...pushed all the way in rendering the vent useless. I can confidently say that adjusting them out will take care of the issue for you.
Thank for doing this video. I am about to order these for my 2014 RAM 15500. Never knew they had to breath.😅
Exactly what I needed to learn - subscribed.
This is how it went with both my headlights having about same much water in them here in humid Louisiana ... I tried pull plugs different ways from little to as much as i could with no result and i dried them every time with fan and heater really good, it always lasted few days and then it started doing same from little fog to sitting water 2 weeks later... Then i tried 2nd approach and silicone plexiglass housing crack, nothing else, not the vents ofcourse... Suddenly one kept dry and never fogged again, i talked to few mechanics friends, both saying it's usually poor seal and it gets water or moisture in, i inspected thoroughly the silicone on light which was still fogging and could not find any hole crack in silicone fix, i siliconed it anyway again very carefully to not miss spot... after that it stopped fogging as well both are fine it never came back and it's about year now
UPDATE: So when I pulled the headlight out I found the reason for my condensation/water issue. When I replaced the halogen bulbs with the LED replacement lights, I actually didn’t make certain the cap on the back of the headlights wasn’t seated properly. As soon as I pulled the light, I could see how the panel wasn’t secured properly where the light bulbs go…smh…the water has damaged the lower part of the turn signal…so when I get tired of looking at it, I may just go with Boosted current replacement light set up. Thank you for the amazing videos!!
Love your videos man. All the upgrades you do are sick!! I’m a huge mopar fan. One day hoping to get into a challenger rt. But at the moment I got a 08 Durango 4.7. She’s a beast. Good power. I keep it clean and I like the do upgrades myself. I would love to do a headlight led upgrade. But can’t find any online ????? Do you have any links that could help me find some???
I would recommend you put some type of filter material in the ripped-out part. The inside of your lenses will gather dust and look dingey in a few months, I had this happen on my headlights from a bulb not being seated all the way, it's not fun to have to take them apart clean them carefully and then put everything back together hoping its fixed.
Oh shit I needed this vid a year ago lmao. thanks bro
Haha no problem! Let me know if it works! I think you should be able to just remove that wax filter material and be good to go 👍
Most people don’t realize is that when you switch from halogen bulbs which produce a lot of heat to LED which produce a lot less heat. You’ll have more condensation issues because not enough heat being produced to burn of condensation.
I got same problem on halogen , halogen heats too much , outside it s cold and condensation it s forms inside I need to find the ventilation and free them so it can breathe inside, even if no halogen they still get hot from the inside , the engine side it s hot also.
Great video, I have a 2019 Tacoma with the same issue. The passenger side light is always full of condensation.
Hi I remove the mesh thing in the back and I have had no more problems thank you very much…😅😅😅😅😅
My vents were sealed when I pulled them off and I had to use pliers to get them off. I ended up using QD cleaner and a knife to scrap the filters . That seemed to work pretty good. Your video was great insight though.
Informative 👍had no idea head lights needed to be able to vent
Definitely more important in area with humidity and drastic temperature changes!
Hey Jon, are you gonna visit H-Town this weekend for TX2K? I was over at Baytown racetrack to see some the out of towns street racing action. I can't believe someone would really drown those assemblies with silicone.
I actually stuck some silica gel packs in the back of the headlights. Took care of the condensation issue.
Damn I'm having this exact problem! Silconed the top of the headlight the other day and didn't fix the problem 🤣 but it ended up killing part of my DRL/turn signal led strip
Where did you go to review the service bulletin? Ram forum, dealer or website?
Been through this issue so so many times with these lights. I took a sewing needle and poked a couple holes in the vents to breath better while still not having them pushed tight.
Next thing you can do is add silica gel packs to the inside, they work wonders as well!
Yeah the silica packs is a good idea as long as they don’t burst and let beads fly everywhere in your headlight 😂
Speaking of the silica packs I'm pretty sure I've seen them inside some tyc projector replicas before.
@Josh Breton did doing all that fix your headlight problem?
@@Josh-hh4ix it did yes
I was really hoping to see some upgrades for the quad headlights. Not just swapping them for the projectors.
That condensation issue is not confined to just the Ram trucks. Have seen it in other cars as well.
Cool video! Thanks man!
Yeah the TSB I saw was from a 300c I believe with the same issue
it was nuts, i had them fogging and i could not find another Ram truck on road with same issue, actually until one today like year later, but yes i did see it on many other usually older vehicles including Japanese
i have the same lights and i did try to seal one of them but no luck..thank you
Can you make a video installing an LED light bar! It’ll appropriate it. Thanks 👍🏼
Thanks do you know if there was a factory recall on those head light thanks again
Do you have to pull the whole light assembly out to get to those 3 breather caps? can you reach them with your fingers or needle nose plyers?
What headlight assembly upgrade did you get? My led chip turn signals are going out and rather just change the entire assembly versus paying 100+ to have the light fixed
I'm still waiting to see how you got all the moisture out. How long did it take?
WT a mass a that silicone Stuff omg 😅 headlight need Air fote the condesarion ,nice video and bigg USA Car Man 🤘
dude! that is what happens when you add too much blinker fluid to your headlights! 😄 🤣 😂
😂😂
🤣🤣
Always check the dipstick.
Drat! My headlight had been doing this for some time. The LED turn signal strip just failed 3 days ago! This video is 3 days too late. Thanks, thanks a bunch. 😂 LOL! Just kidding! I replaced the unit, but didn't change out the HID yet, so now I'm rolling with a 6k HID and a yellow halogen. 😂 🤣
Dang lol
I had that issue with my RAM. Opened up the headlight back panel and used a hair dryer to get out all the condensation. Found the vents were close on it. Opened them up and never a problem again. Prior to finding the TSB on the vents, I had tried sealing the joints with silicone with no success.
How did you know they were closed ?
I would like to find a set of the projector headlights for my 2nd generation ram that uses the stock 9004 bulbs
I didnt replace the vents on mine, I actually sealed the top vent as it appears to be scooping air/rain (cant post a pic but once you study it you'll see what I'm talking about). I also added very small silica packs and no issues. Curious if this works for others.
Hey what's the plan for the hid in those units
Cool video bro
Very informative- thanks. I have a 2016 Sport, and I've been living with the condensation issue for a while. As long as the headlight assy is out, can you recommend a brighter lamp? I can't see much of anything with my low-beams.
We have bulbs in shopboosted.com
Mesh stuff you can brush it it and also run it under the sink and fan it dry and you can always fan dry/heat dry it some take and use a vacuum with tube and insert it to take moisture out circulation . I think a fan or hair bower be fine . Some put it un a box with a hair bower some use a heat gun. Whatever you have handy and should dry within 15-20 mins maybe even less
Where did u get the adapter nd what’s it called?I need it asap
Number for Automotive Exhaust, want to get flow FX direct fit?
Those screens are most likely hydrophobic on one side and not the other so only air passes through.
Man that was a lot of water.
Thumbs UP!
Yeah only thing is in humid climates if it doesn't allow moisture/water to pass through when the headlight drastically changes temperature compared to ambient it wont be able to breathe and vent properly. I want to see what vents the factory quad headlights have on them when I take them out. The aftermarket ones I showed don't have an issue and are using the same design just with a 90* hose on them
I was wondering if those filters were restrictive on purpose. Maybe it's the airflow while driving that pulls the moisture through.
Is there a way to fix the led turn signal? Condensation ruined the whole bottom row of LEDs ☹️.... same driver side too! 😅
I dont know if someone commented this already. But I think you should bake the headlight, opened and cleaned very well inside. The water could be damage the led boards. 😊 If you don't want to open it open the rear cap and blown inside with air blower until is dry.
I have a damage LED board how can I fix that ?
I’m hoping you’ll be able to live with the water droplets inside the lens????? You’ll need to see your boy Flyride to separate the headlights to clean the inside of them out cause I know how you are with small details like that!!LOL!!!!!! See you in the next video!!! And I’m needing a update on the Florida place!!!!!
Funny, cause I sealed my driver's side due to that issue and it stopped accumulating condensation, but now my passenger side building up condensation. I didn't seal the passenger side, I'll try doing the same with the vents
Doubt you’ll do this, but I’d love to see you do this
Why don’t you do a 2020 front end swap on it and maybe hellephant swap this thing?
It’s part of the possible plans 😁
@@BoostedMotorsports ohhhh 😳😳
My led turn signals went out on both sides for mine need to replace them 😔
👍💪
👍👍
Why not use a small needle to poke 1:42 a couple holes in the film?
Thanks for saving me a lot of 💴
I’m super ocd with my truck and I noticed this was happening… I ended up just ordering new headlights lol
You'll likely end up with the same issue again. Like he said, the lights need to breathe. They'll need to draw air in after they've gotten hot to keep from imploding (watch the Mythbusters episode on the imploding rail tank), and let air escape as they heat up. Moisture will take longer to escape if you use leds as well since theirs less heat to evaporate the moisture.
Add the footwell lights inside the cab next. I just did it on my quad cab express, real easy if you have the the hook ups under the dash.
Yeah I’ll come up with something for that too!
There are none? Or you mean have them come on with lights not just with doors , i actually connected them that way that they come on with doors and also with dash lights on dimmer
We always just drilled a couple holes on the back to let the moisture escape
The vents function the same way if they are working properly. That wax filter material definitely isn’t helping
You might have to colour match these headlights and throw some white led switchbacks yenno because of the hard water spot you’ll get now. jk great video as always!
Haha I like how you think 😁
It seems all of the ram right headlights get this problem. I am having the same issue, AFTER I just switched to my new LED headlights..smh…now I have to fix it. Hence me here..
He probably clogged the filters with silicone when he press the caps back on
Think I’m gonna drill couple small holes on bottom side of headlight. 😮
Good deal I would remove the wax paper...
Those filters were probably covered in a layer of silicone.
Quite possible!
The filters are to keep water and dust out, it’s a waterproof membrane.
It cant function as a vent then, can it ?
It is always easier to let water out than it is to keep it out.
Ripped a little mash out the back and put cotton in it
I fixed mine by adding silica gel packets to each light. No more condensation
Where did you install the packets on the headlights?
@@williamdavila7577 i removed the plastic rear projector cover and inserted them inbetween all of the bulbs/connections
I fixed it by replacing them with aftermarket ones. Crap headlights anyways
Selling stock headlights? 😅
That screen material is probably a Gortex patch.
I know what is wrong he put to much blinker fluid in it Jkn lol 👍👍👍
Hahah 🤣
I'd pull the bulb and run a hair dryer in it to help get the moisture out
It’s been inside with the lid off all week. It’s completely dry now but that would be a good way to do it in a hurry 👍
similar here, i used ceramic heater carefully from distance but forced air in faster with fan and had all opened up for few hours each
That’s what I thought but as much as we pay for trucks this should never happen
Did that fix your problem? Please answer haha
Looks like the lights have been opened before.
He just put a ton of silicone on the outside
😂😂😂⚡️🔥😎👍
where's the follow up?
I did this and mine fell off
