    "Remember, remember, the Dalek December
With Paris in ruins and London an ember
In times of the future when fears are abating
Don't try to forget them, the Daleks are waiting
Quietly planning and scheming and hating"

"Once again, this is real, and I think it's canon" (Refering to the dalek cake part)
I mean, these are the same guys who made a miniature TARDIS just so they could practise their aim on it due to their sheer hatred for the Doctor in Death to the Daleks... so yeah, it's probably canon.

Great video. I don't think this was mentioned but one of the Daleks was operated by a lady - Lynn Farleigh, probably the only time that a Dalek had been operated by a female. She recalled in a 1988 Manchester newspaper how uncomfortable it was and that she once felt so nauseous from the glue, so had to keep blinking the lights to signal she wanted to be rescued. She also recalled that one of the Dalek operators fell asleep during a performance so am actor had to kick the Dalek to wake him!

I don't think the Go Gos had much idea of Dalek anatomy-feeding the Dalek Mutant sugar spice might be fatal and not sure how they hang a christmas stocking on his 'big red toe' but I love the song and play it in our house every Christmas morning( ignoring the shouts of protest).

As one of the children from that time I was pretty into the daleks -I had a Louis Marx Dalek-a squad of Dalek Rolykins, a dalek badge and my Mum mad me some Dalek Cakes( I think this was more or less the Blue Peter recipe-but am not sure we had all the chocolate icing -she chopped up a mini swiss roll-stuck some smarties into the lower bit and plonked a marshmallow on top as the dome sticking three cocktail sticks into this particular Skaro Degredation to represent the appendages).

After seeing that hilarious Blue Peter skit, I think you should cover every Doctor Who appearance on Blue Peter similar to your Comic Relief vid. You’ll get to talk about the fantastic “That Take!” In much more depth than on the livestreams. How does that sound? Something that could maybe be voted in a future patreon poll?

This story reminds me a fair bit of Jubilee and I wonder if Jubilee took inspiration from it in some way.
Whilst not the same, the idea of Jubilee was that Dalekmania became a thing in universe and the Daleks became overwhelmingly marketable. Akin to WW2, in trying to trivialize this evil and make it a joke (like WW2 did with the hindu symbol gang), people forgot the impact of their hatred and evil and forgot why they fought it.
They even began to become like them, believing that 'we aren't them, so we aren't the bad guys.'
This story later became the inspiration for 2005's Dalek, where it lost a lot of the other themes or at least the depth of them but it was still very close, when it came to the idea that we become too complacent and too quick to forget.

I enjoyed the audio, and am glad they kind of stuck by the content of the original instead of trying to change or update it. I'm really used to 1930s/40s pulp stuff so the kind of weird dialogue and banter didn't bother me that much, just kind of reflecting how this sort of thing is often twenty or twenty-five years behind the literature. Of the three Doctor Who stage plays, this one is my favourite, despite, you know, not having a Doctor. Not a classic maybe but pretty interesting and fun to listen to.

That if aliens ever did invade and they looked somewhat adorable, we'd sooner market them on various products before processing that they're supposed to be an enemy to be opposed.
