    The pendant that you thought was a button, may have actually been a wax message sealer. The small section at the back was probably attached to a wooden handle and used to sign/seal things in the kings name.

    If the lionking thingy is not a button, it could be some kind of seal/signet stamp. Wich would be great but if you sent it to the Treasure Trove they will/have probably tell/told you. If you know exactly it would be nice if you could tell us in a short comment.

  • @ganimed1976
    @ganimed1976 10 лет назад

    I believe that King William piece ist not a button. I guess it's a signet or a seal. The piece on the back should be some kind of handle.

    William I button thingy might be from a cape. May be 2 of them with a short chain attaching the 2 together. Or not, just popped in my brain.

  • @layedbacklester
    @layedbacklester 9 лет назад

    Not sure but the William lead thing could be used to decorate pottery or something similar , the letter R is facing backwards and if used to press into something the image would be W R , possibly William Rex which is normal for English kings so maybe same for scots kings

    8:12 Looks like a curtain cord weight
    10:13 That looks like a button for a cape or cloak. It is not a button as you mentioned, but it is something similar to a button. I don't think any low ranked figure would have worn such a thing, so it is most likely from either a high ranked knight or something like that. very nice find!
    15:28 That's from a farmer, actually has 4 holes but one disappeared completely and the other is broken as you may have noticed. It may be WW2 era, but it could just as well be a little later then that. It is definitely not that old.
    22:12 That looks like a dagger holster, if I have to guess, 1400-1500. Looks to me more for either a hunter or farmer. Rare find I guess, since you won't find holster that often. If you are really lucky, there may be a dagger blade inside still. Just be carefull since you do not know what state the blade may be in if there is indeed one inside of that holster.
