In 1962, the BBC Light Programme was on air Mondays to Saturdays from 6.30am until Midnight, and on Sundays from 8.55am until Midnight. News Bulletins aired hourly on the half hour during all of it's broadcasting day, apart from a few exceptions. Most bulletins were 1 to 2 minutes long. only the 7pm and 10.30pm bulletins were longer.
What a gem from a time the UK was so different to the massive changes that came soon after At school in 1962 and recall a safer and happier time for families despite limited wages, Everton went on the win the league title after a long break for the big freeze that set in from December 62 until March 1963. Schools stayed open, and buses ran on time, back then councils cleared snow and gritted roads.
BBC Light Programme always aired their news bulletins on the half hour, as an alternative to the more serious and stodgy news bulletins on the hour on the BBC Home Service.

I have a test pressing of an album by Edmondo Ross, if its the same person. Very good it is too.
Thanks for sharing this.
Maybe I should load up the Edmonds Ross section then - if people are interested - I think there’s a bit of the programme.
