The one thing I hate about the SNES library (but not really hate) is that most games based on cartoons looks so fucking good. Like the spritework is amazing but the games end up being terrible. You should make a list of SNES games based on cartoons that are actually good.
For what it's worth there is a 2 player romhack available for Secret of Evermore, there's also a game balancing hack that tweaks some of the annoyances and adds some new things. Now that I think about it, a video on romhacks that fix/tweak games would be interesting.
Family Dog Was the first game I ever remember my mom renting for me. I was maybe 5 years old at the time. I remember my mom explaining the concept of rental games to me on the way to the store. Jeez, I haven't thought about that in probably 25 years... This is why I watch this channel!
No, man, you're thinking about it wrong. You know how humans are apes, but there are still, like, chimps and stuff on earth? Same deal in the Disney cartoon universe.
You actually get to play as the dog any time he's in your party in SoE. Just press select, and you can switch to him. He's ridiculously powerful, especially in robot form.
Clyde is really cute! I own two dogs, a Rottweiler-Boy named "Mauser" and a Smooth-Foxterrier-Girl named "Leni" (she loves to watch videogames, really!) Greetings from Austria
Yeah, the Genesis seemed to get the better dog games than on SNES, because it's worth mentioning that The Ren & Stimpy Show Presents: Stimpy's Invention and Scooby-Doo Mystery on Genesis are actually pretty decent games, at least when compared to their SNES counterparts.
Initially i discovered this channel about half a year ago when randomly looking up a secret of evermore videos before sleep on my phone. I found the negative review surprising, but i still stuck with You. Was it not for this channel i would have probably never bought a mini snes or modded it. Recently played through SOE again after more than 20 years and i can say most of your critical points are in fact true.
This is your first video I've watched (and I've watched at least a hundred) that made me laugh. Specifically, the scooby snack remark. Thanks for all the entertainment, SNES drunk!
I've always liked the SNESdrunk name wihtout asking myself really what it meant. Ironically you are one of the rare youtubers i can watch any vids at any time because you sound really sober and dont try to be funny over silly stuff. Since i love ''refreshments'' and am a cat person, SNESdrunk goes pretty well with my tastes.
I just found your channel just a week or 2 ago but i love your content man. Your opinions on alot of games are almost the same as mine! Awesome channel bro!
I disagree with you on the flea market section in SoE. It is one of the most original and most fun to play parts in the game. And it works pretty well. I think you are right with the other complaints. And pretty good video, as always! ;-)
This is such a video that only SNES Drunk could make The extensive knowledge of the SNES library along with the story to come to this specific list is amazing
Secret of Evermore is a classic that plays exactly like an upgraded Secret of Mana. The visuals and mechanics are given an big overhaul from Secret of Mana, and the play style is very similar. It is an iconic piece of Squaresoft gaming history. There’s a reason why Secret of Evermore has a large following and is considered a classic. This game is a must play for Secret of Mana and Squaresoft fans.
I'm not sure how to progress in this game. I can get to a certain point and it says not enough points. Then other times, I don't do anything different and I get a a time machine section, and that part seems impossible.
They should have let Shiny do a Ren&Stimpy game back in the day, I am sure they could have done the shows bizzareness justice and make it enjoyable to boot. Scooby-Doo on the GBC is a pretty decent classic click&point adventure title, probably the best genre for a game adaption of the show.
Other games that had dogs as main character or related to the main character: In Tetris Attack, one of the selectable character is a dog name Poochie. In Final Fantasy VI, Shadow has a dog name Interceptor who tends to intercept projectile attack thrown at Shadow. In Samurai Shodown, Galford can use his dog Poppy as a projectile. In Seiken Densetsu 3, one of the six main character you can choose is a guy name Kevin who can transform into a werewolf which is part of the dog family. In Breath of Fire II, Ryu's childhood friend is a dog name Bow who is an archer in the game. In Star Fox, General Pepper is a dog. You see him before every mission. Goof Troops are dogs. In Dragon Quest V, the main hero character had a dog-like pet who became part of his party throughout his life long journey. In Brutal: Paws of Fury, there's a dog like character name Kendo Coyote. In Death Valley Rally, you play as Road Runner trying to get away from Wile E who is a coyote which is part of dog. In Looney Tunes B-Ball, Wile E. Coyote is one of the 8 basketball player you can choose. In the Super Star Wars trilogy, Chewbecca is a dog like character that you can play as. In Mega Man X, Sigma had a Maverick dog. In Toy Story, there's a level where you get chase by a dog. In Harvest Moon, you own a dog. In Mortal Kombat 3/Ultimate MK3, Kung Lao's friendship depict a dog dying. In Street Fighter II, Guile's ending show that he owns a dog. In Killer Instinct, Sabrewulf is kinda like a dog. In EarthBound, one of the enemy you fight early on is a dog. In Mega Man 7, Bass had a dog name Treble. In Mickey Mania, you play as Mickey and sometime got accompany by your dog Pluto. In Ninja Gaiden Trilogy, some of the enemies in levels are dogs. In Earthworm Jim, there's a level where you whack a dog.
I liked Secret of Evermore, the last boss was a disappointment, but remember spending hours on the early internet trying to figure out how to optimize the market section.
Its fun some times to go back and watch the early episodes of youtube channels when they were figuring out how to structure a review and find what does and doesn't work.
There's actually a 2 player mod for Secret of Evermore, as well as another mod that redoes the alchemy system to not suck as badly. They are cross compatible as well.
Dude, when I was in 3rd grade, I actually tried to come up with a sequel to Blaster Master. The twist: you play as a gun toting dalmation on a quest to rescue the brother and sister who are his masters! Shit, if only I wasn't a young bloke when I came up with this, maybe Master Blaster 2: Darren's revenge would have made the list!
I fully agree with you on fire dogs. I remember back in the 90s I rented that from my SNES back at Hollywood video which was a competitor against Blockbuster video that we preferred going to. trust me Hollywood video was a big chain back then and in fact 4 hours North of my hometown and Santa Rosa there is the town of eureka and they actually have a store called spotlight video that completely rips off the logo and design of Hollywood video except has a blue background instead of black. Anyways I rented fire dogs back in the '90s and I could not get past that first level and I got so frustrated with it and just returned it. As for the Rocko's Modern Life game I enjoyed it to an extent but not a whole lot. I think I couldn't beat the third level, but now seeing it from this perspective maybe as a grown adult I might enjoy the game a lot more since I have a better understanding of escort missions and stuff.
I really liked Secret of Evermore, but it´s a shame it doesnt has a 2Player-option =( Also that you have to gather Minerals and stuff to make magic, that was a good thing about it
One of the best games ever played with a dog as the main character was Sleepwalker, a puzzle gamein which you had to get a sleepwalking boy to the end of the level. (Eek the cat is the re-released version for the SNES just re-skinned with a licensed character)
You can always play as the dog in Secret Of Evermore. You can switch between the boy and the dog at any time. here are just some sections that are dog only.
Ugh, I remember the Family Dog sitcom. Funny enough, Family Dog started out as an innocuous short cartoon by Brad Bird. It had lots of physical comedy. Then, for whatever reason, probably because cartoon sitcoms were all the rage back then, they made a sitcom of it, but gave the direction to Tim Burton. And Tim Burton being Tim Burton made it maudlin. I remember it being more depressing than funny.
Yes, every network tried to make their own The Simpsons. People only remember them now because the names of these then-recently cancelled shows appeared on tombstones in one of the early Simpsons Halloween Specials. Family Dog, Capitol Critters, and Fish Police.
Beethoven is my all time favorite awful game. Why do apples, street lights, and fences hurt Beethoven? Why are hunters roaming the street shooting dogs? Every time I show a friend my SNES collection I act super excited about Beethoven like it's a great hidden gem, and make them play it first.
Wow neat; I had no idea there even _was_ a Rocko's Modern Life game on SNES, let alone that it was an escort-themed puzzle platformer like _Lucidity_ or something. That one actually seems pretty cool.
Honestly, i think VR games are still just tech demos, the whole thing haven't been fully figured out yet. Meanwhile even old consoles have actual games, stuff that makes you want to play for hours even days.
Oh trust me some VR games are awesome full-on experiences you want to play for days! SNES however is unbeatable in being light pick-up-and-play, allowing me to load a state, play 15 minutes and move on which is something I seem to enjoy in the last few years with a busy schedule. :)
ekstrajohn Nothing's wrong with you, it's just an objectionable fact that gaming back than was/is better than gaming is today, especially the industry as a whole. VR in my opinion was, is and always will be a gimmick just like 3D.
Secret of Evermore was a game that I really wanted to like, but I eventually gave up on bc of all it's glaring flaws ...I don't completely give up on a game very often...
FINALLY you show off your awesome dog again. That alone makes this video very much worth watching. I have a funny story about Ren & Stimpy: Fire Dogs. I rented that game as a kid and thought it was super, super fun. I had an absolute blast playing it, but never played it again until a year or 2 ago. When I did I was disappointed to find out that it wasn't near as good as I remembered. I still think it's a decent arcade like game though. I think you were way too hard on it. I understand that it's just your opinion, but there are so many SNES games out there that are far worse then Fire Dogs. I also have to disagree with you regarding Scooby Doo Mystery, which is easily one of the best Scooby Doo games ever made. It sounds like it's just not your type of game. That's fine, I just think you could have been a little more fair. It's great for people who enjoy those kinds of games.
There's a patch that fixes all the annoying troubles with Secret of Evermore and maybe even adds 2 player (i can't remember for sure) on romhacking.net that makes the game a must play
for some reason when I was reading the magazines as a kid I always wanted Family Dog......despite the mags advising against it. Luckily I never did get it
The one thing I hate about the SNES library (but not really hate) is that most games based on cartoons looks so fucking good. Like the spritework is amazing but the games end up being terrible. You should make a list of SNES games based on cartoons that are actually good.
Pirates of Dark Water is great, though I doubt many people remember the cartoon
Garbage game summed up in one word: OVERRATED!
Beavis and butthead sucks major time
For what it's worth there is a 2 player romhack available for Secret of Evermore, there's also a game balancing hack that tweaks some of the annoyances and adds some new things. Now that I think about it, a video on romhacks that fix/tweak games would be interesting.
your dog is awesome
Family Dog Was the first game I ever remember my mom renting for me. I was maybe 5 years old at the time. I remember my mom explaining the concept of rental games to me on the way to the store. Jeez, I haven't thought about that in probably 25 years...
This is why I watch this channel!
Thumbs up for the dog
Cute doggo is cute
Yeah,I want so badly to catch that dog and cook it at 180 degrees in my oven.
These videos are now going to start getting oddly specific haha
If Rocko and Ren and Stimpy count, then Goof Troop DEFINITELY counts! Max and Goofy are dogs! But everyone knows that game is worth playing... right?
Also Goof Troop has already been featured in like 4 other videos
Yeah, I sort of figured that was part of it, too.
In that universe Pluto is a dog, Goofy and Max are abominations
No, man, you're thinking about it wrong. You know how humans are apes, but there are still, like, chimps and stuff on earth? Same deal in the Disney cartoon universe.
agree
Haha! Thanks for the shout-out, Drunk! SNESDawg would have been a boon if you had rapped the reviews.

I think you can switch to the dog whenever you want in Secret of Evermore.
Clyde is canonically the secret host of snesdrunk, he just doesn't wanna reveal his secret to avoid being captured by the government
Man, in the past two days, I've marathoned tons of your videos. They're amazing! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for watching
Initially i discovered this channel about half a year ago when randomly looking up a secret of evermore videos before sleep on my phone. I found the negative review surprising, but i still stuck with You. Was it not for this channel i would have probably never bought a mini snes or modded it. This is your first video I've watched (and I've watched at least a hundred) that made me laugh. Specifically, the scooby snack remark. Thanks for all the entertainment, SNES drunk!
Watching this with my dog of course!
Thanks snes drunk, from Australia. Thanks for your videos, my favourite retro 90s you tube reviews and appreciate your honesty
5:56
I remember this one… and the fact it was hard to collect the tokens / money goal to get the Time Machine to progress the rest of the game.
Loving the secret of evermore soundtrack in the beginning.... one of the best soundtracks ever made
I used to have Ren and Stimpy Time Wrap and me and my mom would play it together sometimes.
I love your dog, he seens so calm and nice. I wish I could pet him. 😊
Secret of evermore has always been one of my favorite games. And ren and stimpy time warp was awesome because it was 2 player co op.
You do realize that 2018 also happens to be the Year Of The Dog according to the Chinese Zodiac, huh? ;)
Polykill is amazing!! I really enjoyed that episode!
Your videos really make me happy and distract me from the bad days and make the ok days great!
I remember Ren and Stimpy Veediots being SO HARD
I thought Family Dog was just something I had dreamt of, and didn't actually exist.
Does Earthworm Jim have an escort the dog mission, or am I making that up?
It does yeah, you need to escort Peter Puppy through the stage. Fail & he rips you to shreds.
You're a madman! And I love you for every second of it. Keep up the good work. Your videos are really top quality!
And pretty good video, as always! ;-)
7:22 so, the peter puppy levels from earthworm jim, without the monster transformations?
This is such a video that only SNES Drunk could make
The extensive knowledge of the SNES library along with the story to come to this specific list is amazing
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but Snoopy's Concert is also a game on the super famicom
Ok, Spunky’s character design is actually really adorable
Try that dog idea. If it works out, I'm all for Snesdog.
Haha what a crazy coincidence. It's my dogs birthday today and she loved this video

I would add, the game design of the Rocko game really captures the spirit of the show.
There's a 2-player patch for SoE that makes it a little better. It's still no Mana but I had fun with it
I'm not sure how to progress in this game. I can get to a certain point and it says not enough points. Then other times, I don't do anything different and I get a a time machine section, and that part seems impossible.
I like how the blocks in do lucky no dog smile as you stack them up
I love cartoons and cartoon-typed games, so thanks a lot for the Dolucky games! Didn't know of them
They should have let Shiny do a Ren&Stimpy game back in the day, I am sure they could have done the shows bizzareness justice and make it enjoyable to boot.
Scooby-Doo on the GBC is a pretty decent classic click&point adventure title, probably the best genre for a game adaption of the show.
I'm sure you know, but there is a romhack that lets you play Secret of Evermore as a 2 player game with the 2nd player controlling the dog.
Mad propose for using the Ebon Keep theme I love that song

Oh and i just noticed RUclips unsubbed me from your channel so ive missed alot from you .but now i can binge wAtch, YES!!!!!!!!!!
I liked Secret of Evermore, the last boss was a disappointment, but remember spending hours on the early internet trying to figure out how to optimize the market section.
I have 2 dogs too. Love em, don't know what I'd do without them.

Your dog is just like why you filming me bro.
SNES drunk isn't Griffey presents MLB a dog-centered game I mean it has Fred "The Crime Dog" McGriff in it
Dude, when I was in 3rd grade, I actually tried to come up with a sequel to Blaster Master. The twist: you play as a gun toting dalmation on a quest to rescue the brother and sister who are his masters! Loved Rocko's Modern Life when I was a kid, tried playing it as an adult and had no clue what I was doing lol
Secret of Evermore 2-player hack is an alternative. Your dog is fab!
I fully agree with you on fire dogs. This channel is so good!
thanks a lot, I've been thinking about good snes games starring dogs for weeks! So many sleepless nights.
Yeah me too
Dolucky’s A-League Soccer is a really great game. For your information. There are fouls possible in this game but these are very rare.
Lots of comments about the megadrive Ren & stimpy, might be worth doing a megadrive equivalent video. Would shadow dancer count though?
I really liked Secret of Evermore, but it´s a shame it doesnt has a 2Player-option =(
Also that you have to gather Minerals and stuff to make magic, that was a good thing about it

Thanks
+SNES drunk you're welcome, I guess.
Can you do a video for cats too.
Your dog Clyde is a legend.
that rug really tied the room together
How come I have never seen this Snesdrunk video before. I swore I saw them all. And it's 5 year old. Is it not in a playlist?
Wow neat; I had no idea there even _was_ a Rocko's Modern Life game on SNES, let alone that it was an escort-themed puzzle platformer like _Lucidity_ or something. That one actually seems pretty cool.
Love your videos, great content
Awww look at the cute doggie, who's a good boy? You're the good boy!
It's a doggone good video man,Not to mention Scooby-Doo
I got the Oculus Rift and I'm still coming back to SNES games, what is wrong with me...
Honestly, i think VR games are still just tech demos, the whole thing haven't been fully figured out yet. Meanwhile even old consoles have actual games, stuff that makes you want to play for hours even days.

Nostalgia for your youth over having a futuristic monstrosity strapped to your head? 🤔🤔🤔
ekstrajohn Nothing's wrong with you, it's just an objectionable fact that gaming back than was/is better than gaming is today, especially the industry as a whole. VR in my opinion was, is and always will be a gimmick just like 3D.
SNES Dogg would be pretty fun to watch haha
Is it just me or does it seem like Mario Strikers and Mario Baseball were based off the Dolucky games? It looks like they play pretty similarly.
There's a romhack that makes Secret of Evermore two player.
I would love to see a new ren n stimpy game with a hand drawn art style and it actually be great.
There is a 2 player hack of Secret of Evermore with player 2 controlling the dog
Is Clyde a dachshund/lab mix? 2 of my friends had chocolate lab/dachshund mixes from the same litter and they were awesome.
Close, corgi lab mix
Hes freakin adorable. Mutts always make great pets. A lot of purebreads have problems from inbreeding
Since you reviewed the Ren and Stimpy SNES games, could you review Stimpy's Invention for the Genesis? It's actually a pretty decent game.
Secret of Evermore was a game that I really wanted to like, but I eventually gave up on bc of all it's glaring flaws ...I don't completely give up on a game very often...
FINALLY you show off your awesome dog again. That alone makes this video very much worth watching.

That's fine, I just think you could have been a little more fair. It's great for people who enjoy those kinds of games.
There's a patch that fixes all the annoying troubles with Secret of Evermore and maybe even adds 2 player (i can't remember for sure) on romhacking.net that makes the game a must play
Ren&Stimpy is better on Sega
Rainbow Dash Couldn't Agree More.
Stimpy's Invention was way better than all 4 of those
I haven't played a Ren & Stimpy game I liked and I loved the cartoons.
Are you going to make a video about soccer games? I noticed that you have a series with a sports theme.
In secret of Evermore, you can just by pressing the select button shift to the dog and play as him almost as much as you wants to.
for some reason when I was reading the magazines as a kid I always wanted Family Dog......despite the mags advising against it. Luckily I never did get it
That Dolucky soccer game looks exactly like Megaman Soccer, I wonder is there a connection?
I had a bulldog named Clyde, after the orangutan in Every witch way but Loose
I didn't know about one Ren and Stimpy game let alone 5.
No sparkster?
awesome doggo. is it a lab dachshund mix?
Nothing else matters except your boy 'Clyde'. What a sweet boi!
