That Fire Pro ending was a hint at what was quietly going on in wrestling (hence the Von Erchs). It was quietly neglected and tragically still is. It was a premonition of sorts to boot. Look at the wrestlers we've lost to suicide in years past. Scary accuracy ahead of its time.
@@BryanX64 no bro. There are many who sadly committed suicide. Look up deceased wrestlers and there are many who committed suicide in some way. The Chris Benoit tragedy was one of the worst to date. It was murder and suicide.
Tragic suicide has to be the most eerily accurate depiction of reality. All that’s missing is a painkiller and steroid addiction mechanic and you’ve got the worlds first real pro wrestling simulator
Honestly, Super Fire Pro Wrestling Special deserves to be among the best for how dark and sombre it is. Were there many other games that doubled down on such heartbreak and misery at the time?
Lego Speed Racer Lego Star Wars Lego Jurassic World Lego Avatar The Last Airbender Lego Indiana Jones Lego Overwatch Lego Spongebob SquarePants Lego Minecraft Lego Harry Potter Lego Super Mario Lego Toy Story Lego Pirates of the Caribbean Lego Prince Of Persia Lego Spider-Man 2 Lego Ben 10 Lego Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Lego The Lone Ranger Lego Batman Lego Cars Lego Simpsons Lego Hobbit Lego Lord Of The Rings
Honestly, it's one of the most memorable endings in the entire 16-bit era. Few games at that point, and few games even today, will actually end with a truly bad ending. There is no "good" ending - that is the end of the story that they wanted to tell. It must've taken some serious balls to do that.
I really like the Super Fire Pro Wrestling Special story mode ending. Is something you can expect from a movie and that's cool. My bad endings to choose in SNES = Jurassic Park and Super Double Dragon :(
Correction on that 7th Saga ending review: that creature you killed at the end of the game (Gorsia), it's literally Satan in the japanese version. And the entity that you were helping and will be born as his descendant (Saro) it's literally GOD. So, you destroy Satan, that managed to destroy your body with his final attack, so god imortalizes your soul, making you his descendant. I mean, it sounds way better than what you told us in the video. Nonetheless, great video as usual
Am I the only one who got creeped out by the Fire Pro Wrestling special's ending? :P The background music is kinda creepy and the fact that there's a suicide in a snes games makes it even more weird and creepy :D
One game to mention was Pirates of Dark Water for the SNES. The animated series never had a story ending, so they decided to do the same thing with the game as well. I was SO mad when I finished that one. I loved that show, and hoped they'd try something different...😒
Wow, the ending to that wrestling game was really messed up! Otherwise really fun video and thank you for the spoiler tags. (I still want to try to actually beat 7th Saga.) Maybe try game openings or intros next?
I have learned so much! I will include so many of your phrases into my daily repertoire, such as "quarter-ass"! Stellar video, thank you so much! Great video
6th! ...and now with that out of the way, before watching/opening description: Jurassic Park! Huh, not there? I've always felt that one's ending was a real slap in the face. Basically the same short mode-7 sequence as in the game's intro, except playing in reversed and with added helicopter sound, followed by a text screen saying _"Congratulations, you have escaped Jurassic Park"._ Roll credits. A complete and total letdown of an ending for a long(ish) game you can't really beat on first or second try (unless using a guide that tells you where the items are and what to do next) and that has _no_ save feature or password system of any kind. As a kid I borrowed JP from a friend a few times but never managed to beat it back then, even with a couple of attempts where I left my SNES running for long periods in order to not lose my progress. With emulators I then got to witness the ending in all its lacklusterness.
My copy of Jurassic Park froze twice, in the same place, a long way in. It happened after accessing a terminal on the ship, exiting the terminal screen, and turning left. But I didn't get discouraged, no. The third time through (A 6 hour marathon) I beat it. For that ending.
Same here. Could never play through the game back in the day, because of the lack of a save feature. Through emulation and save states, was finally able to finish it, only to be massively disappointed by the ending. I imagine the devs just figured no one would actually play through the damned thing, so why bother making a proper ending.
One thing you forgot to mention about 7th Saga is how convoluted the last act of that game got. So the King who hired you to find the 7 Runes was actually the Evil Demon guy that the King defeated years ago. The Evil Demon guy possessed the King's body and hired the lot of you guys to go out to find the 7 Runes that are the key to his power. After finding all 7, Evil Demon guy returns but God says "You can't defeat him, so I will take you back in time to defeat him in the past... for some reason." So you defeat the Evil Demon guy in the past but that only seals him away for future generations to deal with, but you DIED so you get reincarnated to be the King who defeated the Evil Demon guy in the first place... WHAT THE HELL!?
I dunno if I'd say *worst*, but one I always hated was Ninja Warriors. The game is nut-punchingly hard, and to top it off at the end all three playable robots self-destruct! I guess they were literally created as weapons and don't seem to ever show any emotions or feelings, but it still sucks that they couldn't get a happily-ever-after teaching more peaceful ninjas or working in construction or something. I remember little preteen me was actually legitimately sad for like three or four days over it, it was one of the first pieces of media I'd ever consumed with such a bittersweet finale.
I actually liked the ending in Ninja Warriors, as it explains that the androids where literally weapons without consciousness, I also like the fact that the people realized that it was all for nothing, as Mulk (the one that send the androids in the first place) continued the advancement of the androids making an even more powerful army, thus becoming another dictator. Gotta love that last line: "Some things never change"
Super fire pro's ending is the best, I love it. Its as obscene as the endings on wwf wrestlemania arcade. It makes me laugh every time and is my favourite snes ending.
7th saga gave me my first taste of major betrayal. It's been a while, but if I remember right the dwarf took my items, and ran off with them while I slept at an inn. Hard as nails game, but it was fairly unique.
Thanks for showing me the ending for Separation Anxiety because I suck and can never get past the 2nd level. It's basically YOU'RE WINNER but with Carnage...
Honestly, I really kinda don't get why Fire Pro Special is #1. It's a sad ending, but it had a lot of effort put into it compared to everything else on the list, and as mentioned, it's pretty much the kind of way a lot of wrestlers go out. A game having a dark tone doesn't make it bad; hell, the fact that games can deliberately and successfully evoke emotions other than satisfied happiness is probably one of the best arguments for games as a legitimate artform, and it's kind of bonkers and awesome that I'm saying this about a WRESTLING GAME of all things.
Dude the ending to super fire pro is effing amaze-balls bro, i mean its a wrestling game with murder and intrigue then ends in suicide... Insanity, yes, but terrible ending? I think not.
@12:00 they literally predicted the CHRIS BENOIT tragedy in wrestling. The ending with the protagonist wrestler offing himself... is still less dark than the reality of Chris Benoit's tragedy
Man, not only is Separation Anxiety's ending that bad, IIRC you can even get into a brawl with the bosses from Maximum Carnage while the credits are rolling in that game, and it turns into a survival mode. So they went in completely opposite directions with the endings in each game.
Yeah Maximum Carnage was a much better game the only thing missing was a 2 player mode. It's like they added 2 players on Separation Anxiety in exchange for presentation and game play.
Great Video as always! But you really forgot about Jurassic Park. It's not a bad game, but has no password or saving function and after I let my SNES run for two whole days, because I couldn't make it through in one run, all I got was this lousy textbox...
I came here just to talk about that crappy ending. Such a long and painful playthrough to get just a "Congratulations, you escaped Jurassic Park" screen. Oh, man... #Facepalm
@@BigDaddyCola I agree, I think the Issue SNESDrunk has with the ending is that it's the same has the original NES game. Just a lazy cut and paste, like my college papers Lol
Jurassic Park was a very disappointing ending too. Especially with how hard it was to get, and a possible game ending invisible glitch that someone can stumble on in the boat stage after you finish the objective there.
Out of curiosity: are you speaking about the Star Trek game where Q drags you from the future to posses your father's body for a chance to save him (your father) from a time fart? And ALL because Q was bored and felt it would be amusing to watch? He even posses other characters during your adventure just to diss at your failures. That one per chance?

8:39 There is a credits roll that uses the password screen that can be accessed via cheat codes, but it is one of those 'four walls and no doors rooms where you can't get out once you enter' situations. I've never seen the characters screen of MMS. I'm going to be very honest with you on sports depression. It is very real, and yeah, a lot of people have taken their own lives.
Smartball was one of those random games I just had for some reason as a kid. The ending was always so weird and cryptic to me, I didn't find out for decades why.
Gonna have to strongly disagree with your number 1 even being on the list. That ending is sad and depressing...but it's still a damn ending, and has something of a message to it. It makes the player think, which makes it much more interesting than any kind of ending that just cuts to credits or has a single congratulations screen.
At 12:00, Idk if he coined the phrase or not, but I first heard "... in the blue hell..." from The Rock on WWF in 2001 or so, but I'm counting that as a really smart wrestling reference. ;) Also, YES! I'm so glad someone outside of the wrestling subsection of the gaming community has talked about this ending. As dark as it is, I love the Fire Pro Series and I've always really wanted to play through those games' story modes, but I don't know Japanese, lol.

Tragic suicide has to be the most eerily accurate depiction of reality. All that’s missing is a painkiller and steroid addiction mechanic and you’ve got the worlds first real pro wrestling simulator
Rival Turf: best ending ever, you punch the bad guy in the bawllz xD
Why get regular drunk, when you can get SNES drunk?
Nice counterpart to your previous vid!
Honestly, Super Fire Pro Wrestling Special deserves to be among the best for how dark and sombre it is. Were there many other games that doubled down on such heartbreak and misery at the time?
i mean loss is one of the greatest pieces of modern art to come from this generation

What? The ending of the wrestling game sounds *AWESOME!!!*
it's like a true japanese ending (cuz a lot of their shows and movies don't shy away from brutal endings where all the main characters die...)
well, it was written by Suda51
@@apoplexiamusic lol hell yea i love that shit. i hate the same happy endings all the time its too predictable
Seems a bit inappropriate for a wrestling game to me
Honestly, it's one of the most memorable endings in the entire 16-bit era.
My bad endings to choose in SNES = Jurassic Park and Super Double Dragon :(
I agree Super Fire Pro may not have a nice ending but for a SNES game especially wrestling it's pretty shocking and new. I liked it as well
Jurassic Park was the effing worst.
The background music is kinda creepy and the fact that there's a suicide in a snes games makes it even more weird and creepy :D
(I still want to try to actually beat 7th Saga.)
Maybe try game openings or intros next?
7 saga is good
Luckily for you he missed something in the ending. It's still mediocre but certainly interesting.
the boss name was dick slender lol so much going on with that ending
I have learned so much! I will include so many of your phrases into my daily repertoire, such as "quarter-ass"! Stellar video, thank you so much! Great video
It was nice to see that in snes era Suda51 was already Suda51
CabaioMonte Already, not still.
@@DiarrheaIsFun oops, you are right, I gotta work more on my English
lol liked for the AGAAIN!! great work on your videos as always!
The Plok ending was a sneak peak of the comics lmao
If you were a Spectrum channel then terrible endings were very standard due to having bytes of memory left for the ending 😂
6th!
...and now with that out of the way, before watching/opening description: Jurassic Park!
I was looking for this game in the comments... maaaan it was infuriating as a child to beat it, and get that crappy ending!!!
Jurassic park 2 true ending is no better, believe me.
Still praying for the eventual fan-translation of Fire Pro Special. Keep up the great work.
Your description of the No. 1 choice got a good laugh out of me, thanks for that.
And it is a great fun list.
Fire Pro is more hardcore than ECW
Right? Dick Slender... Hahaha
Hella rad how you maid the skip times
Solid solid solid work sir
Gotta love that last line:
"Some things never change"
Super fire pro's ending is the best, I love it. Its as obscene as the endings on wwf wrestlemania arcade. It makes me laugh every time and is my favourite snes ending.
"Tug of war with Cyclops and he's crying." .... #DED 🤣🤣🤣
My brother and I played that game, and when we finish it, was like WTF is this shit! Jajajajajajaja... xDDDD
@@evilblader7
I never could beat it because I've only played it in single player
@@philcollinshill2951 Ooh... what a shame :(
Honestly, I really kinda don't get why Fire Pro Special is #1.
Wow just listening to you talk about that Fire Pro Wrestling ending pretty much ruined my day. That's gotta be the most F'd up ending ever...
It might be my depression talking, but I love the ending.
I wonder if Chris Benoit ever played it to the end?
The story was actually really good until the suicide part.
Watch the bad ending to battle golfer yui.
@@azinyefantasy4445 The bad ending was so redundant.
Dude the ending to super fire pro is effing amaze-balls bro, i mean its a wrestling game with murder and intrigue then ends in suicide... Insanity, yes, but terrible ending? I think not.
Damb Suda started off the bat stronk in the way left field xD
I didn’t know there was a Chris Benoit video game. This changes a lot.
"it's not even half assed, more like quarter-assed"
Sounds like a lot of video games are just an escape from reality, which provide frustration and addiction in the end.
Even Vince Russo wouldn't think up a Wrestling storyline like that. That's messed up, man!
Bro don't give him any ideas bro
Oh he would. Last I saw him, he was running Rocky Mountain Pro and had a man as the women's champ.
@@jesuszamora6949 really damn he losing it

The cyclops line was hilarious.
I've made Cyclops cry so many times in my life that I should be imprisoned for abuse.
Oh, man... #Facepalm
Hey, don't forget they play the opening zoom in on the island in reverse.
Watching the best endings video the other day I was wondering why the wrestling game wasn't on it. Well, now I know.
When I saw this video popup, I thought to myself "If 7th Saga isn't in this list, he's going to need to make a second video"
That Rival Turf ending still gets me to this day. Thanks Snes drunk for all your videos-especially on beat em' ups!
Another fantastic video from SNESdrunk. I only subscribed a couple of months ago, but you quickly became one of my favorite RUclipsrs
Cool I just completed 13 SNES without even trying , thanks SNES drunk 🍻
It's messed up for a game, but the end may be the most realistic pro wrestling story ever told on a console...
I finished Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts. Good to know I'm legit at something
I just beat it myself finally after all these years. I actually loved the ending despite how simple it was
@@BigDaddyCola I agree, I think the Issue SNESDrunk has with the ending is that it's the same has the original NES game. Just a lazy cut and paste, like my college papers Lol
The ending for Karnov on the NES. It just abruptly reads: "Congratulations! The End."
The ending for #1 seems depressingly prescient of what actually happens to real world wrestlers.
Jurassic Park was a very disappointing ending too. Especially with how hard it was to get, and a possible game ending invisible glitch that someone can stumble on in the boat stage after you finish the objective there.
SNERK if you wrote a crossover with a certain PSX game with that Star Trek game, you could have a literal Deus ex Machina
Love your reviews
That wrestling game ending and entire story is awesome. They should of made way more dark storylines than they did on older generation consoles
sadly this game designer designed the WRESTLINg ending of CHRIS BENOIT even before it happened... did the character in the game kill his wife and kid before the soicide ? Cuz if so it IS the chris benoit ending.
i'm just now starting to realize that you are a connoisseur of SNES games. i respect your skill!
Impressive how you managed to get the arrows to line up
I am far less concerned about spoilers to this video than I was about the last one. ;) But I admire the dedication and service you show to your viewers in providing time links anyways. Great job as always.
Best spoiler system ever
8:39 There is a credits roll that uses the password screen that can be accessed via cheat codes, but it is one of those 'four walls and no doors rooms where you can't get out once you enter' situations. I've never seen the characters screen of MMS.
I'm going to be very honest with you on sports depression. It is very real, and yeah, a lot of people have taken their own lives.
Super fire pro needs a English translation ASAP!
The number one selection Ric Flair ending was really really good and very surprising and extremely adult
At least Fire Pro didn't have a secret Chris Benoit ending! 😳
I mean, really it was close enoug haha
It kinda just was a Benoit ending
kek
Dude, your videos are so well edited
I agree with all of your choices, except #1, which is a much better (yet sadistic) ending than words & a picture.
#TeamSNESdrunk
Smartball was one of those random games I just had for some reason as a kid. The ending was always so weird and cryptic to me, I didn't find out for decades why.
I always hated the ending of Jurassic park 1......blergh
Or the PSX Jurassic Park game, where the prize for winning is a video of Jeff Goldblum insulting you.
Gonna have to strongly disagree with your number 1 even being on the list. That ending is sad and depressing...but it's still a damn ending, and has something of a message to it. It makes the player think, which makes it much more interesting than any kind of ending that just cuts to credits or has a single congratulations screen.
Maybe you need to play the first six sagas before the seventh makes sense.
At 12:00, Idk if he coined the phrase or not, but I first heard "... in the blue hell..." from The Rock on WWF in 2001 or so, but I'm counting that as a really smart wrestling reference. ;)
Also, YES! I'm so glad someone outside of the wrestling subsection of the gaming community has talked about this ending. As dark as it is, I love the Fire Pro Series and I've always really wanted to play through those games' story modes, but I don't know Japanese, lol.
Wait was one of the characters in the ending for Rival Turf wearing a M-bison hat lol but why would you include suicide in a wrestling gane?!
He's a policeman. It's a generic officer hat.
Because many wrestlers have committed suicide.
11:53 basically a Chris Benoit simulator
Pro fire wrestling’s ending is pretty awesome imo! Probably better than most snes wrestling games.
@ 8:10 "it looks like hes having a tug-a-war with cyclops and cyclops is starting to cry"
