    Coat any broken glass panels with clear Flexseal. Mine have been working fine for 4 years without turning milky. Output is minimally affected.

      I have never tried flex seal. All i know i that everyone else I have seen that has tried to clearcoat/epoxy there broken panels have been disappointed. I guess flex seal might work fine, I am not sure.

    Great job showing the things to look for. I just got my hands on 7 immaculate LG 400W Bifacial panels for free. I did a video on them but had nothing bad to show. I am glad you did this video. Thank you.

    I bought some panels and cables to charge a delta max solar generator ( battery pack)from this guy. He is honest and just a good guy with tons of knowledge. Highly recommend him I got two 250 watt ytina panels and when I tested them I was getting 475 watts using them in series in December. That's really good. Worth the drive from cullman!

      I've got some crack panels 6 in total I wire them up in series of to and get 64 v open circuit I also used clear boat varnish to paint over the cracks they seem to be working what's your opinion

      @@tonyolomu4543 I’ve seen videos of folks on RUclips doing that. If it works for you then cool. I would think it’s not going to last super long time does the varnish will probably start to peel off the glass. If moisture gets inside of the panel, the panel may short out and potentially damage the equipment the panels are connected to

    Even completely shattered panels, like your 8 will produce power for years. I have 2 - 370w panels that FedEx shattered. It's been over 2 years and they are still producing power. I expect them to fail but until then I'm using them. The seller did refund me but I'm still going to get every watt I can from them

      In the case of using a smashed panel, I would think that moisture would work its way through the cracks and cause the panel to short. If a panel dead shorts it can cause a fire

      Coat it with Flexseal. Works fine.
      One thin coat will suffice. I used a flexible scraper to spread the Flexseal. Been working for 4 years so far.

    They're fine as long as ypu no longer draw max power from them and especially don't build big series arrays.
    Keep it low voltage, 12 or 24v, parallel connections with series diodes on every panel.
    No, I'm not defending your seller. As you said, if you know what you buy and you're happy with it, it's all fine. You clearly were not 😊
    I'm on my 2nd set of 2nd hand panels and they are in decent condition. I've seen really damaged panels in the pallets I bought from but basically those were not for sale but the reason the entire array was scrapped.
    On a big farm, one burnt panel can cost way more than replacing the entire string.
    Front glass sealing with clear epoxy would be feasable. You will need s heat gun and uv resistant resin but you could seal them to prevent water ingress. Even if, at low voltages, some water ingress is almost harmless. My 1st ever panel is diy with cells soldered togheder by me and layd on a piece of flat glass with some adhesive vinil backing. It didn't hold for long and many cells ended up splitting and cracking, rain and condensation are in there all the time but it's still going and putting watts 15 years later.

      Front glass sealing with clear epoxy is very much not a thing. Many have tried, none have succeeded. You will get very little power from the panel, not enough to off set the cost of the epoxy. I have not seen a single vid of someone that "Fixed" smashed front glass with a long term solution they were happy with.

    Santan doesn't ship panels with mounts on them. I'm wondering why you put mounts on the one with the black frame? The one you said you won't use? Maybe I missed something.

      Because someone brought it and gave it to me because they got screwed by a Santan panel. It was just one handy for the video

    Good. Video. Can cracks in the white plastic be sealed up with something?

    • @tennesseevalleysolar4101
      @tennesseevalleysolar4101  2 года назад

      I don't think so. I guess you could spread something over the back of the panel, but I have never tried that

    • @brockm4047
      @brockm4047 2 года назад

      Yes, you can apply a moderate bead of Solar Seal 900 over back side vinyl cracking. I purchased several pallets from San Tan solar with this condition. I now have several years of use in Michigan without any issues whatsoever.

      You're welcome. I got a better price by calling them directly rather than using the online store. Usually they will come down a few dollars per panel when you buy a full pallet as well.

    I wonder how many good panels you end up getting from those two pallets?
