Thank You for the First Responder outreach. There is a very similar and yet different connection with stresses between the Mil and Responder community. For us (Firefighter/EMT) they call it "Acute PTSD" only because it builds over time. With DoD there is usually a singular catalysis, that moment that opens the jar. For first responders there is almost an open pool. Once a catalysis is reached there is a Rolodex of calls and Sea of memories that pour forth. My father took early retirement because of PTSD, that moment that a child the same age as my daughter died traumatically. At that point the flood of memories started rolling out. For me it was CPR on a 3 month old when my daughter was 3 months old. To my second note, My daughter is my pride and I take honor in her strength. I want her to be as strong as my mother or stronger.
Great podcast! Up getting after it listing to you men while getting a.m.p.t done. As a single father of three girls the opening of this podcast really resonated with my values and teachings for my girls! Thank you both for your service and continued service to us!
"Stop watching the news"... 110%. I quit paying attention to the mainstream outlets a while ago and have been happier for it. Couldn't agree with Jason's comments on this more.
Thanks for saying what u said about first responders. I wanted to serve but, couldn't be cause of chrons. So I went the police route and did that for 16 years much respect to u guys.
I love hearing you boys tell your war stories but I really hope that both you and your guest get some form of healing and comfort (for lack of a better term) In talking about this stuff .
just saw this video, new to the community. be present in the moment is a lifestyle that I have wanted and failed to make it permanent. first learned 40 years ago, read peaceful warrior by dan millman, his book made me see what path I need to go. everyone should read this and his other books and go see him at a clinic, I am still working to be in the moment and see how powerful it is.
Amen!!!!!! I absolutely love this discussion! My “Little Girl” is now a 29 year old. She is strong minded, strong willed, aka she wills herself through a situation. She didn’t always like that I was tough, and heavy on Principals/Standards/Honor/Integrity. I never wanted her to be property of, or a door mat to anyone! Hence, I told that I was tough because the world is tougher! Principals/Standards/Honor/Integrity are her gauge and guideline! In addition, an I agree with your conversation she has to be “good with herself before she could be better with someone else! Don’t count on anyone from the outside to be your sole basis of validation! Like you’ve commented here “you love them unconditionally and forever”! If she does these, among other things I will live on with her forever, and she will be a great Stuart to others! Thanks for sharing these things guys!
Solid wisdom here. As always, I find myself reflecting inward with my own three kids and wife upon hearing your insights. Truly appreciate hearing your guys' thoughts and experiences. Seems I always go home a better man after listening. Just wish I could keep it going longer than I do :-/
30 years in SFs is a longtime and this guy seems humble and relaxed..respect........I would like Andy on one of his Q and A podcasts to comment if he can on Robert Oneill and Matt Bisonette...ive read both their books..Neither book was just an ego rant. Both constantly deferred to the Teams and how they only did their job because of their great team mates....I think Andy would know both these men as they were all in Devgru at the same time.Does Andy not like these two because Ive never heard him mention them??????
Another awesome episode - two great men having a very interesting conversation. So easy to look up to both of you, and use you as a moral compass. It is no coincidence that such a high proportion of the worthwhile people on my Instagram have some connection to Andy...
I have four kids and they are North, South, East, and West. I have a really smart one (scalastically), a princess, a sensitive one, and a very caring one.
Dude when they’re talking about those 4 hour dives at night and having something big rush by them......yup fuck that, no way. I could never do that. Being in the ocean deep underwater in pitch black is one of my biggest nightmares.
Phenomenal wisdom as I am a father right now of 3 teenage daughters, Fuck what a roller coaster ride, But I gotta be the best version of myself for there benefit BUT fuck “it’s like leg day every day” 😂🤣😂💯💯💯
Lived in Alabama my whole life, had my first squirrel at a month ago at 30 years old. Wish I could say it would be my last, but it won’t be. If you enjoy deer meat, you’ll enjoy squirrel guaranteed.
Guys. I’m hearing you lc. I had to spend a lot of time reversing my thinking on this whole thing. Just an idea - I asked my son when he was about 10 ( clearly I’m divorced) what he wanted from me It was like choking myself. I think I’m growing into it 10 years later.
much respect to Jason and this isnt to sound rude but what the hell is the size difference here? lol andy looks like hes 6'8 and jason looks 5'0. im 1:41.09 into the video and just hit me now lol
Totally disagree about following rules and regs. Do whatever needs done to win. That is bottom line. The fricken enemy doesnt give a shit about Geneva Convention nor should we.
Scrutinizing small things are no doubt a hinderance, but there absolutely needs to be a standard warfighters need to hold themselves to. You don't rape civilians like the enemy does(Not everyone rapes people as a result of battle trauma, those people who do aren't meant to be warfighters and disgrace other warfighters, period.), you don't go off on your own for "revenge", nor do you murder non-enemy combatants(Collateral damage is another thing, that is inevitable to an extent). Those major infractions are all part of "rules."
“The fighting season” followed by joyful laughter, makes me so happy. Love these MEN.
Let's get Pat Mac on Andy.
Would be a killer podcast.
Always a great watch. Thx!
The emphasis of spending time with parents; as time is finite, an excellent point.

Can someone compile the list of parenting goals that he gives please. I forgot to in the moment but I’d like to keep them in mind for my own kids
You mean you COULDN'T care less. And irregardless isn't a word.
9:06. Jason said ir-regardless. I beg your pardon Sir. That is NOT a word.
The opening comments about raising daughters is just the best thing ever.
Gotta get Tony!

I was thinking the same thing. It would be great if Andy was trolling him and edited it that way.
@22:00 - Did the math. Should probably call my parents.
Great stuff. But you can tell andy likes to one up all of his guest. Lol

I'm OK with women in spec ops as long as they get ZERO special treatment and ZERO change in performance standards
