Of all Jocko's podcasts, this has been my favorite. Jeff Higgs is a quietly inspiring man with a distinctively understated, earned wisdom. This was one was the best.
This podcast started off slow - but oh my god it was worth it, once Jeff loosened up, man this was good to hear about jockos past. It was like hearing your dad talk to an old friend, and you find out loads of stuff about your dad
27:30 - Potentially the hardest I’ve heard Jocko laugh. 😂 29:11 - “It’s about magic!” So many parts of this episode made me laugh so hard. Much needed.

Best of luck to you man! It’s so much fun. I’d not roll with any spazzy white belts tho, they tend to go hard and hurt people on accident one good time. Still so worth it
Mr Calcium thanks, I started running four months ago after over a decade of being a fat slug couch potato and also started some light weight training (3 times a week) about three months ago during Covid and yes I have thought a lot about the reality of the jujitsu experience and I will definitely let people know I’m an old bloke. It’s funny in my youth I was extremely fit, ex army and served in Iraq 1991 and now I say to young people I meet, “...restless soul enjoy your youth...” (Pearl Jam circa 1993). Thanks for your advice I will take heed.
Thank you Jocko, Echo, and Jeff for the sincere, thoughtful, and enlightening conversation. One of the best podcasts on this channel because of the Jeff's story and humility.
my dad said I’m nuts but so is he . hypocrite. he’s a ski bum . he’ll ski in between trees and do the ones where u jump off like a cliff before u hit the actual wall steep slope. I don’t ski with him anymore because he’s out of his mind. lived in a crappy area but he always made sure he had money to go to Colorado. he lives out there now so I take my vacation there every Summer. I mainly just bike with him or hike.
Jocko, Echo: Thank you for hosting Higgs. Hearing Jeff walk through our days with 177 was quite nostalgic. What a great American and great perspective he shared. I always thought Jeff was the "heart and soul" of our Class 177 experience. High Energy and defiant to be kept down. That 177 mindset lives on. Again, thanks for hosting Jeff.
Indeed. But there are a lot of people like Jocko out there, believe it or not,as Jocko himself has said. There are plenty of people like Jocko in the military(who have served and who currently ARE)serving but as Jocko has said, they're in the shadows but Jocko chose to step out of the shadows so people know about him.
Hope Jordan Peterson makes a full recovery so Jocko can have him on his podcast again. Really miss Jordan Peterson talking and Jocko listening. Mabey this time Jocko can get through some of what he wants to talk about. These two guys are like the Fathers I didn't have. Thank you for adding Discipline to my life and lowering my Chaos. Also just got my GI from Origin which is top notch. Sadly all the Jujitsu schools and gyms are closed again in Arizona. Still going to get after it running and cleaning my room. So thanks again!

One of the most entertaining podcasts ever. I was on the USS JFK in the 80s and grew up in NY. I studied martial arts, boxing, read comics and fought in the street growing up. It’s a NY thing so I just laughed my ass off on the way to work. Thanks gentlemen for putting a huge smile on my face.
Really enjoyed this podcast, what a humble inspiring guy. I lost my dad at about the same age as Jeff Higgs and Johnny Kim. I instead went down another path of using drugs and self destruction. I wish I could have let it transform me to work harder and motivate me into being a better, stronger person. If i could do it all over again I certainly would, but there is no time machine and no going back. Life is short and it goes by quick like in one of Jocko's other videos. Make every second count because there are no do overs. I also share the same reluctance as Jeff toward social media. I can understand how it can help with networking and new business contacts but i also feel it takes the mystery out of meeting new people face to face. Anyways great podcast as always!

This dude's stories were hilarious. Especially the way he told them. This dude was so laid back about his trauma growing up with those metal brothers 😆
Really love your approach to the pod cast when you have the guest speaker start from the beginning of their life. Not sure why but that is so enjoyable.I think it shows me that we can overcome difficulty and set backs. Thanks for the great work👍👍
I think that if Mr. Higgs was to write a book about the formative part of his life, leading up to his successfully getting into the SeaLS, that alone would be a very interesting and instructive read. I really do hope they get him on again if for no other reason than his quiet, dry humour appeals to my British sensibilities! He comes across as a very decent man.
Jeff Higgs much respect... Like how you let James and Paul off of the hook and took their cruelty to you and used it as motivation. This guy has some serious skills in martial arts but his attitude towards life is even stronger...

Not true. You can find consciousness in a place where you are unable to exert it. And then slowly the ego will create delusions around you to protect you from a reality you can't bear.
