@@South3West77 Yeh, VH young and raw did, i believe, the entire first album. Eddie was killing it. It was a 3500 gen admission field house. A large hotbox in those days. Getting close to the stage was easy. I went for Sabbath not even knowing VH yet, and as much as everyone said VH blew them off the stage, and they did, I loved their set. Ozzy seemed ok that night in his fringed white jumpsuit. He even pulled off his Children of the Grave stage leap. Tony big as life and Geezer killing it on bass. After the set Bill Ward stepped up on his throne and jumped over his kit to the stage as the others converged to lock arms in a full band bow. Seemed like a long jump but 45 year old memories sometimes are enhanced in the mind. His riser wasn't all that high I'm sure. I do remember when my buddy and I were working our way toward the stage we had to step over a guy already passed out in his own vomit with his new Sabbath shirt on.

He used to really be able to dial it back from time to time, and have some very moving and melodic licks. That made the fast stuff even more mind bending. If you cherry-pick those albums you'll probably find some tunes worth your time.

Yngwie's Rising Force albums (debut and trilogy to name a few), to quote school of rock, are face melting. I've seen YM in concert. He seems to put on airs, flicking guitar picks (that's an interesting story), but when you hear him play, you forget about that. EVH was pushing the envelope in what you can do with a guitar. Even Holmsworth - another musician that YM admired - can shread and can be intricate, whether it's rock or jazz.

There's a collection of famous guitar player handprints somewhere. I seem to recall Yngwie being remarkably non exceptional in the area of his hands but he had a lot more finger to palm than most. Seems like he's also put on some "finger bulk" here. That might be aging or maybe he's picked up a hobby where he works with his hands a lot. I'm a 6'7" dude with hands that scale but my 5'11" father has an identical hand size. If that wasn't enough unlike my skinny programmer fingers he's been doing carpentry and fixing up cars for 40 years so his hands are like absolute fucking paws. I once handed him my ibanez for a laugh and he couldn't finger individual strings, it simply wasn't possible with the shovels he has.

Hand size doesn't matter. Every Guitarist has to develop their own style that works for their finger and hand size.

I'm sure part of this is Yngwie maturing as a person but I wonder if it's easier for him to admit this with VH gone.
