RUINS OF POMPEII | Villa Dei Misteri, Pompeii Frescoes and Ancient Roman "Fast Food"

- Today, we visit the Ruins of Pompeii, Italy, including the highlights of the Villa dei Misteri Pompeii, where you can find one of the best preserved Pompeii frescoes.
One of the biggest and more morbid moments of our day was to view the Pompeii Ruins bodies. These plaster casts of the victims of Pompeii were made from actual bodies that were buried and decomposed inside volcanic ash. As a result, there were voids that turned into a cast molding of the bodies of Pompeii that can be seen today. They include men, women, children, and even pets.
If you are up for a treat, make your way to the Villa of the Mysteries (the Villa Dei Misteri), a little bit outside of the main city center of Pompeii. Here, you can find the best-preserved frescoes in Pompeii.

Another great job capturing the beauty of Pompeii
Thank you! Pompeii is definitely one of the most fascinating places we have ever visited!
Thanks for watching!
Nice nice. Thank you. I appreciated that you showed many details of this place in crisp high resolution.
Our pleasure 🤗
the painting on the wall area amazing and it is wonderful how the colors are preserved.
Absolutely!
Pompei has so much history. Thank you for bringing me back once more. You really showed a lot of information here. Glad you finally found the exit in the maze.
Yes, so glad to be out from the great Maze of Pompei 😅
Thanks for watching!
One of the best overviews I've seen.
Congratulations!
Thank you 😀
I can’t get over the graffiti on the trains and the state of the station at Pompeii, it was disgusting
Yup, there are a lot of graffiti in Italy in general
That was great, thanks for sharing guys 👍
For sure, thanks for watching 😀
wow, thanks for this great tour in Pompeii. i hope to stroll those streets in the future.
You're welcome! We also scuba dove in the Bay of Naples to find more ancient ruins! We love Italy - check out our Italian vlogs in our channel, as well as to subscribe to our channel to follow along with our journey 😀🇮🇹
Such a crazy story about breathing in the gases. So scary! I can't imagine what that must have felt like. The ruins are spectacular...totally surreal to see the bodies preserved in the positions in which the people died. Thanks for sharing!
For sure! Thanks for watching!
Another great job by you guys! You chose the right time of the year to go and see Pompeii. We went in June and one could get a good idea of how hot a volcano can be with the heat of summer in Campania.
Ufff - Southern Italy in the summer months can be very oppressive 🥵
Until your video i didn't know there's so much art there, wow!
Yes!! So many amazing murals and arts all over Pompeii!
Just found your channel it's very good love it!!!
Thanks Maria 😀🇮🇹
I was there a few years ago ,but would love to go back to see more of what was recovered ,
There's always something! I visited in 2003 and then again in 2019 - totally different experiences!
Would love to visit this place sometime looks very interesting. Hi from Northern Ireland uk 🇬🇧
Northern ireland 😀
Nice effort
Thank you 😀
I heard the volcano was about to erupt again pretty soon. I hope these great sites don't get destroyed again.
I was there for a day. Amazing experience for sure but Best advice I can give: Drink plenty of water BEFORE you go and WEAR REALLY COMFY and CUSHIONED SHOES. You’ll walk for miles, can’t sit anywhere and it is all uneven hard stone or gravel. Your feet will feel like they went through a meat grinder by the time you leave.
Wise advices 😀🇮🇹
There blood evaporated! Wow it sounds truly terrifying what happened to those poor people, seeing the victims cast in there final moment really brings the horror to life. Ah the most ancient of all professions, prostitution, i'm sure it was happening everywhere in roman times! That amphitheater is really impressive! You guys have certainly done your research, we would never have known about the chariot indentations in the road! Easy subscribe for us, can't wait to watch more of your content!
I remember going to Pompeii in third grade with my family.
That's so cool 😀🇮🇹
Pompeii must be a beautiful city before the volcano destroyed, thanks for the video👍
For sure! Thanks for watching, Alfonso :)
I'm here every year to see the new excavations I've never taken a guide. Never needed to, if you want to know truth of Pompeii, watch Mary Beard. She is the academic on ancient Rome.
Good to know, thanks for the info -
Common misconception, the frescoes are not a menu
Thank you for the clarification!
I really want to go this year if I can
Fingers crossed 🤞
Puella 🔥 Romana says 🔥 celadus traex susperius puellarum
😀
awesome content!
Thank you!
didn't you even notice that one of the mosaics is a replica of the famous Alexander battle?
Was a carving of a penis along the way in the😊 "sidewalk " ever mentioned? It was to show the visitors where to go for the "Red light" district. I was there years ago and our Guide informed us of the markers in the walk ways that led to the Lunara. This was a clever way of informing foreign merchants were to go for "entertainment ". As there was people from all over the known world and there was a language barrier, this was the best alternative.
It's Lupanario, Lupanar in English
For sure 😅♥
Fast food in Pompeii? I'll have a large thin crust with extra cheese, green olives, green peppers, onions, and jalapenos.
Hahaha all of the exotic ingredients for Pompeii 😂
So hope to go one day, it is fascinating. There was a huge exposition a few years ago through and they even had 'people casts'. I never heard of the brothel area lol.
I think the brothel area is somewhat newly discovered part of Pompeii!
It’s nice he’s able to fulfill a wish
I'm getting married in Sorrento later this year (hopefully, virus dependent!) and I'm so excited to spend a day at Pompeii! I remember learning about it at school and it has always fascinated me. It's unimaginable. I didn't know there was a brothel there! How did you like Naples? It's one of my least fave places.
Oh, no kidding - I studied abroad in Rome MOONS ago, and I visited Napoli and hated it. This trip around, we actually stayed in Napoli for a week and I completely changed my opinion on the city. It was rough at the beginning, but when you see beyond it, there are a lot of amazing things in the city to experience. Check out our other Italian vlogs, before and after this Pompeii one, to see what other things we did - our Roman ruins diving, Napoli pizza and Napoli underground city videos are doing pretty well :)
Good luck on the wedding later - it would be an amazing experience to get married in Sorrento for sure!
I want to know that these paintings on wall are 2000 years old or not .its roman era paintings or not.
Yes and yes!
@@theRTWguys nice dude
If you haven't, also check out the scuba diving video from the Bay of Naples to view Emperor Claudius villa ruins under water 💦

How much was the slice of pizza / drink and fries ? ???
The last time I was in Naples a whole pizza cost about £1.50 [1.67 euro] in Lira ... !
Some of the best Napolitano pizzas we have cost around 5 euro - check out other Napoli videos, which include a video about our experience eating some of the best Napolitano pizzas 😀

If it’s spelt with an nes at the end its pronounced with the long o sound but if only ns at the end the it’s the short o sound, simples.
Thank you 😀
Hardly I could see the frescos.
They are all over Pompeii ❤️
Ercolano nn sei andato?
A domani!
It's so weird to see a couple of grown men laughing and joking about the brothel. Maybe you don't know this but those women (and sometimes boys) were slaves. They were sold to the owner of the brothel and were raped over and over again for days, months and years. When these people were too old they were often killed and thrown into a garbage pile of bodies outside of Pompeii.
That's the dark side of sex industry. Thank you for the information.
Italians NEVER NEVER drink.coffee from a paper.cup
Truth 😜
@@theRTWguys i live about 40 minutes from Pompei
We see tourists now and then drinking coffee from a paper cut
NEVER NEVER AN ITALIAN
@@theRTWguys have you.visited Herculaneum? Much easier.to visit
@@antonmarino6568 very true! Although I love to have Americano because I like to walk around town, sipping my coffee ☕😂

Sorry! Mom was an English teacher: amphorae = more than one amphora.
That's correct! Although that's Latin, I think 🤔
'....would line up or fast food...' in the middle age?!
Oh absolutely
It's not middle age, it's ancient age.
Which one of these guys likes to be on top of eachother?
?
A young child and a dog 🐶.?
Fast food- thermopolium.....
🙏
I visited Pompeii in 1977. I distinctly remember that there were two brothels we visited -- one for the rich and one for the poor. At least that's what we were told.
I wonder whether research later found that the brothel for the rich was actually a house of some rich person. Because now I cannot find any reference to that brothel. It was very impressive, I'd think too impressive for any brothel. Plus, Romans were often unashamed to paint their fantasies on the walls of their houses.
Anyone knows?
Oh yes, we saw a typical ruins in Pompeii, as well as 'road signs' in phallus, so it is a common theme in the city.
There were, at least, about 25 brothels in Pompeii. A very high average, but it's difficult to get an official average, because many brothels in Roman's cities were kinda improvised or unofficial
I give up 🤦
👀
Looked interesting, but sorry fruitcakes.
Pompeii is interesting 🤔
