The only thing i think was missed is desperate escape tests. You may move a model through an enemy model during a fall back move. If your opponent surrounds you, you may still move. However, if you do you must make a desperate escape test for each model that moves over an enemy model. Roll a d6 and on a 1 or 2 one model of your choice in the unit is destroyed. You also must make a desperate eacape test for every model in a unit when a battle shocked unit does any fall back move.
I'd also like to add, because I think intuitively people might think this only applies to infantry, it applies to _anything_. I found out the hard way when I tried to fall back with my Hekaton Land Fortress against some Warp Talons. Warp Talons force a desperate escape test on anything trying to fall back from engagement range with them. Rolled a 1, HLF was instantly killed. There's no rule where the vehicle just takes damage, even if a vehicle or titanic unit makes a Desperate Escape test and fails it is destroyed. I lost that game badly XD.
I wish i would've found your channel sooner. It's surprisingly difficult to find tutorials that go a little beyond the basic rules. I love the podcast as well.
Thanks for this! The core rules confused me because it explicitly says "units can pivot and turn during their movement", so I did not think you had to track vehicle turning. One of the last sentences mentions that you have to measure the point that moves the most during their movement, and I didn't realize what that meant until you showed it with the tank and how to properly measure vehicle movement.
right? I never thought you needed to add movement for vehicles that pivot but I guess this applies to vehicles that have no base (most tanks) to thinks like the repulsor
VANGUARD TACTICS FOR THE WINS! keep up the great work you do for the community gentlemen, cant wait to meet you on the tournament circuit, and on the battle field😝
I have a question how the rules work for Leader of units if the leader has possibly lower movement then the squad it leads.. The squad then needs to move the lower number?
Other than being able to move over terrain that is 2" or less without having to measure up/down, I don't think you need to measure pivoting vehicles to get around terrain the way you showed in the video. You would move the vehicle until it can clear the terrain, and then measure in a straight line from there through the gap. You don't need to measure pivoting/turning as facing is no longer relevant in the game (and neither are access doors).
With an aura does the entire unit need to be within 6” or can one model of the unit be within the aura range and the whole unit still get the aura ability.
I have a question about how infantry with fly, moving over enemy units, while the enemy units are in a ruin. they can move over enemy units measuring flat. (Fly) They can Breach a ruin (infantry) would they have to measure true distance (not just in 2D), because the enemy unit blocking the first floor of a ruin would make the fly over it like a tank with fly?
Hey Dylan, the enrolment period will depend on space available, the start date is 4th March for the Academy so cut off date will be then unless spaces are available.
What about a movement differential between a body guard and their leader? Example, lord Invocatus has a 12in move and Eightbound have a 9in move. Which do you follow when they are paired together?
Each model follows it's own movement characteristic. In this case the Lord model can move 12" but the right bound can only move 9". The only thing you must do is make sure they remain in coherency. The 12" move might be useful to reposition the leader to the other side of the unit. Otherwise you will not be able to use all 12" if it would take him too far ahead.
Helo everyone! Just a question here about the Dark Angels. In the inner circle task force detachment, if I put a captain/chaplain with jump pack in a vanguard vet squad, is the captain/chaplain get the deathwing keyword? In that case I can use the deathwing strats on them right?
all models in the same unit gain the same keywords i believe, as in for example Azrael gives deathwing to his hellblasters. In your case, i think so yes, its not only from leader to unit, it works both ways

Thanks so much
Models can move over terrain features 2” or less in height as if they were not there

If you have a gap between two ruins that a vehicle can't fit/sit between but can clear with its movement, is it allowed to move through that gap?
Really great Video. Thank you so much. Looking forward for more in this series.
Seriously love these videos. It's so interesting to hear perspective from high level players on each phase. Keep 'em coming!
Can we get a video like this on terrain rules and obscuring LOS etc?
Super helpful, thank you 🙌🏼 I’m so excited to start playing! Looking forward to seeing more videos - giving me motivation to get my army painted 🩸🩸🩸
Would love to see some clarification on how turning models works, especially big ones with wings like Magnus
Love these. A buddy of mine just oicked up the game and I'm sending him your way!
God bless you gentlemen! I love this game and y’all’s passion and dedication brings so much joy

So as long as it does not say wholly within then you just need to have one model within the aura range, that is all that matters :)

Great breakdown bravo

Thank you for the answer. I thought so too, but I wanted to make sure about it.
Should edit the video at the pivot value point
Use tau for shooting tutorial 😊
I see you have a tyranid and a space marine class. Do you plan on doing a chaos space marine and a chaos knight class?
We release the masterclasses in line with GW codex releases
@@VanguardTactics, excellent. I look forward to it.
I love Mike, but it drives me crazy every time he says illegible instead of eligible.
At 8:48 a slight correction, you cannot move through friendly Monster or Vehicle units.
ahh cant you move over things that are 2in high as if it wasnt there?
Pretty sure. I wish theyd address this.
All Tau players need to watch this video! 🤣🤣🤣
They've got no idea what a mOveMenT phase is? 🤣🤣
