Today we are discussing how to wash your hair in braids or in a protective style in general. It is important to keep your scalp clean in order to maximize your hair growth potential, especially when you are in a long term protective style.
It doesn’t have to be a long process, keeping it simple is my policy. No, I do not condition my braids because the risk of leaving conditioner in my hair and creating more product build up is too high. But of course, do what works best for you.

I wash my braids too . And it helps alot . I get less breakage and my hair comes out of the braids clean and shiny.

Can you do a video where you explain what products you use before doing box braids/how you prepare you hair before doing box braid
Because I do my own hair I also do a deep condition in my braids with cholesterol treatments or any deep conditioner. If they frizz, I don't care because I can redo them over time. I only leave my braids in for a month tops so it doesn't hurt my feelings if they get raggedy. Planning my next styles as inspired by her gorgeous braids. I wish I could pull off the hair color.
you probably can pull off the color. I recently started braiding with color and i honestly can't say that it's been a bad experience. Some colors I previously thought wouldn't work, happened to compliment my skin tone just fine.

How often should i wash my box braids? every two weeks or every week? and how do i maintain it weekly? mousse or dry shampoo for weekly maintenance which is better?

I like the video. I don’t normally wash my hair in braids either. Too much work and I heard your the smells when it gets wet. Don’t know how true that is. But I do try to keep some kind of moisture ike water and conditioner on the braids and a little oil on the scalp and seems to be fine.

Hopefully i am okay commenting. I just started box braids, knotless is how i like them. However, i usually don’t wash them. I work out at least 3-5 times a week and get super sweaty and can tell it irritates my head with my braids in. They only stay in for 3-4 weeks (i like changing my colors). Is there a simple way between braids to help with this…

I never do it either lol. I would literally just prefer to remove them altogether lol. I feel like the braids would be ruined after.

Don’t the braids get heavy and pull on hair when soaking wet?
The does get heavier but that’s why I tie my hair down right after to alleviated the weight on my edges 😉
I was thinking the same thing. So I am thinking of buying one of those large heavy hair nets to leave on when washing my hair.
I apply castor oil directly to my scalp whilst it’s in box braids
Is that moisture and does it help to grow?
oils don’t moisturise your scalp, only water can do that☺️
