as a kannadiga, i have been arguing that sanskrit as a national lang is the only lang that can unite and save hindus. What sanskrit can do, no other lang can do. Hindi as national lang will be the most damaging given that it is easily replacable with urdu one word at a time even if it takes 50-200yrs. As a Native Hindi speaker I completely agree with the Sanskrit as a National Language. It was Gandhiji who projected Hindi as a national language and Congress at that time Imposed Hindi all over India. Most of the damage is caused by the bollywood film industry who polluted the Hindi that a Native Bangla, Telugu, Kannada Gujrati, Marathi speaker can speak their language in pure form but Hindi speaker will speak corrupted laguage by bollywood. Only the rural speaker can speak in pure dialect of Hindi.
Wow a new reason to avoid Hindi as the National language. I think it's the Natural place of Samskrit. Hindi can be kept pure and I think we shouldn't give up on differentiating Urdu from Hindi, but my reason is that Hindi efficiently takes over the regional languages and kills it. Like it is doing in Maharashtra Gujrat Rajasthan Haryana Bihar and other states.

As a person from Dakshina Karnataka, i rather read and listen to Hindi, than English. I am reading Manoj Sharma's Biography 12th Fail in Hindi, so that my reading in Hindi gets better. Nityananda Mishra ji is the reason I started cleaning up my language to speak Shudh Tulu (my mother tongue) I learnt to speak basic Samskritam and passed it on to my daughter. My family is v aware of all the Pradooshan in our speech. We say Dhanyavaada/ Nandri, whatever is the Indian language. Not English or Urdu. We say Namaskara and Jai Shri Krishna. Dhanyavaadah Mishra ji🙏 learning Sanskritam will help me learn more and more Bharathiya languages. I can speak some amount of Telugu, Kannada and a good amount of Hindi

Srivalli gaana ki sanskrit version bhi hai. abasya suniye... I am happy I did not learn hindi from Kachrawood... I learnt by watching Ramayana-Mahabharat in my childhood. Hindi is supposed to be Sanskrit (Simplified) but Arabic-Farsi mixed words through pop culture like Bollywood ruined it, making Hindi 2nd to Urdu, an alien language for the rest of the Indians.

It’s Telugu tats widely spoken in south even in TN after Tamil; also u will notice predominantly Telugus in Chardham or any north yatras. Btw, popular notion is that Karunanidhi family too has Telugu roots
For that matter Vaiko, Vijayakanth, Rashika Sarathkumar etc. are telugus. Telugus are largest ethnic minority in TN who migrated in last 200-300 years; Chennai is almost 50-50 or u can say 40-60 on conservative basis. And ceratain pockets of Madurai, Tutucotin, Salem n other places have substantial Telugu population.

I do agree. Telugu people migrated vastly to bengaluru side and then the chettinadu side of tamilnadu. There these people speak their own version of Telugu. For a native Telugu speaker it may sound weird but chettinad tamilians proudly show their roots towards andhra😊

I remember back in the day my Hindi teacher telling the same type of thing regarding Hindi film songs and dialogues One such example that comes at the top of my mind is " chalka chalka kalash ka paani " , original song in Tamil is so good - yaro yarodi unnodu purushe, not literal translation nor somewhere close to the original nor it's a good song , I mean why why ??? Jwar has the same meaning in Hindi also like Kannada. Even in my family Language Nepali we use Joro, derived from Jwar i.e. fever. My mother born and brought up in hilly village in Nepal never went to school, but know the calender months in Sanskrit, no January, Feb.

However, there is one suggestion for the host, please at least know the meaning of our National anthem. It's not difficult. You don't have to look up. Listen carefully. I think many of the Punjabi producers, directors, song writers, many of whom have come from the other side of the border after partition are responsible for jettisoning Hindi and romanticizing Urdu. Absolutely, have been thinking about this for many years now - are Bollywood lyricists really that incompetent to not know when to use Sanskrit words instead of Urdu, or are there really not many qualified people who can tell the two apart and discern what to use where? A few examples off the top of my head: - The Hindu panditji in Bhool Bhulaiya says "maine aapko samaan ki jo 'fairisht' di thi...", "main tumhe 'agaah' kar raha hoon..."; when no panditji would ever use these words - they'd say 'soochi' and 'chetavni' - In the Hindi dubbed version of Ponniyin Selvan (which is about the Chola kingdom, and in the original Tamil version of which they've used Classical Tamil rather than modern day colloquial Tamil), there are Urdu words 'kashti', 'badban', 'naubat', among others, which sound extremely jarring to the ears - the least they could do while dubbing in Hindi to do justice to the original material is use as many Sanskrit words as possible - Brahmastra - countless inconsistencies and a total hodgepodge of jarring Urdu words in the same breath as 'Brahmastra' It is true - Bollywood is basically Urduwood. Hence why one turns to South Indian cinema mostly now - to hear languages that are undiluted and completely our own.

Very good podcast. I am a South Indian and didn’t study Hindi in school but, studied Sanskrit and Kannada. I have problems understanding Hindi when there is too many Urdu words. But, recently, I started watching historical series from Swastik productions and I had no problem understanding the language. The professor is absolutely right. We need changes like this in the mainstream series and movies. People should start speaking their language.

as a kannadiga, i have been arguing that sanskrit as a national lang is the only lang that can unite and save hindus. What sanskrit can do, no other lang can do. Hindi as national lang will be the most damaging given that it is easily replacable with urdu one word at a time even if it takes 50-200yrs. As a Native Hindi speaker I completely agree with the Sanskrit as a National Language. It was Gandhiji who projected Hindi as a national language and Congress at that time Imposed Hindi all over India. Most of the damage is caused by the bollywood film industry who polluted the Hindi that a Native Bangla, Telugu, Kannada Gujrati, Marathi speaker can speak their language in pure form but Hindi speaker will speak corrupted laguage by bollywood. Only the rural speaker can speak in pure dialect of Hindi.

Wow a new reason to avoid Hindi as the National language. I think it's the Natural place of Samskrit. Hindi can be kept pure and I think we shouldn't give up on differentiating Urdu from Hindi, but my reason is that Hindi efficiently takes over the regional languages and kills it. Like it is doing in Maharashtra Gujrat Rajasthan Haryana Bihar and other states.

As a person from Dakshina Karnataka, i rather read and listen to Hindi, than English. I am reading Manoj Sharma's Biography 12th Fail in Hindi, so that my reading in Hindi gets better. Nityananda Mishra ji is the reason I started cleaning up my language to speak Shudh Tulu (my mother tongue) I learnt to speak basic Samskritam and passed it on to my daughter. My family is v aware of all the Pradooshan in our speech. We say Dhanyavaada/ Nandri, whatever is the Indian language. Not English or Urdu. We say Namaskara and Jai Shri Krishna. Dhanyavaadah Mishra ji🙏 learning Sanskritam will help me learn more and more Bharathiya languages. I can speak some amount of Telugu, Kannada and a good amount of Hindi

I loved the episode, yes he is telling it correctly.. I remember back in the day my Hindi teacher telling the same type of thing regarding Hindi film songs and dialogues
One such example that comes at the top of my mind is " chalka chalka kalash ka paani " , original song in Tamil is so good - yaro yarodi unnodu purushe, not literal translation nor somewhere close to the original nor it's a good song , I mean why why ???

Jwar has the same meaning in Hindi also like Kannada. Even in my family Language Nepali we use Joro, derived from Jwar i.e. fever. My mother born and brought up in hilly village in Nepal never went to school, but know the calender months in Sanskrit, no January, Feb.
Jwaram I’m Telugu.
Ifcourse we end all words with vowels. So take any Sanskrit word and add a vowel in the end you voila it’s a Telugu word 😂

i am happy i came across this channel.. very well raised issues.. i too belong to the generation where the entire education was in english and speaking in hindi is a task..but i make sure i speak to my kid only in hindi..and conscious that he should learn hindi properly...

I came across this podcast because I generally follow Nityanandji and I love his passion for the language which I also share. However, there is one suggestion for the host, please at least know the meaning of our National anthem. It's not difficult. You don't have to look up. Listen carefully. If you speak and know any Indian language you will understand. I felt so annoyed and disappointed. Thodasa abhyas Kar lo. Sorry but I had to tell you. This is not good.

I think many of the Punjabi producers, directors, song writers, many of whom have come from the other side of the border after partition are responsible for jettisoning Hindi and romanticizing Urdu. Few writers, directors from the Hindi belt could ever withstand the Punjabi/Muslim domination of Hindi cinema!

Absolutely, have been thinking about this for many years now - are Bollywood lyricists really that incompetent to not know when to use Sanskrit words instead of Urdu, or are there really not many qualified people who can tell the two apart and discern what to use where? A few examples off the top of my head:
- The Hindu panditji in Bhool Bhulaiya says "maine aapko samaan ki jo 'fairisht' di thi...", "main tumhe 'agaah' kar raha hoon..."; when no panditji would ever use these words - they'd say 'soochi' and 'chetavni'
- In the Hindi dubbed version of Ponniyin Selvan (which is about the Chola kingdom, and in the original Tamil version of which they've used Classical Tamil rather than modern day colloquial Tamil), there are Urdu words 'kashti', 'badban', 'naubat', among others, which sound extremely jarring to the ears - the least they could do while dubbing in Hindi to do justice to the original material is use as many Sanskrit words as possible
- Brahmastra - countless inconsistencies and a total hodgepodge of jarring Urdu words in the same breath as 'Brahmastra'
It is true - Bollywood is basically Urduwood. Hence why one turns to South Indian cinema mostly now - to hear languages that are undiluted and completely our own.

Mera bhi yahi kehna tha ki humare Hindi cinema (Bollywood) me urdu ka itna prayog kyu hota hai. Aap pehle decide karle ye Hindi cinema hai ya urdu cinema.
Kuch geeto me urdu use hua ho to usme koi problem nahi hai, par lag bhag har geet me urdu ka prayog hota hai. Hindi films me itne urdu shabd use hote hai ki mere aam bol chaal me urdu ghus gaya hai. Abhi mujhe urdu shabdhon ke bagair hindi bolne me difficulty ho jaati hai.
Ya to urdu bhasha ki cinema alag banao usme Hindi ka prayog na karen ... ya to Hindi cinema ko mostly Hindi rehne de.

Very good podcast. I am a South Indian and didn’t study Hindi in school but, studied Sanskrit and Kannada. I have problems understanding Hindi when there is too many Urdu words. But, recently, I started watching historical series from Swastik productions and I had no problem understanding the language. The professor is absolutely right. We need changes like this in the mainstream series and movies. People should start speaking their language.
Of course you can understand the Indian national anthem. It's base is Sanskrit, Bangla

Teri Jhalak Ashrafi, no Hindi speaker can understand what does it means, As a Hindi speaker I can understand jhalak through listening songs. Ashrafi means gold coins may be, Ashraf has different menaing in udru from original arabic word. But the exact meaning of this line no one can explain.

There will be chaos and unrest , particularly with the large chunk of muslim and Christian population who will get their knickers in a knot , set their beards on fire etcetc !
