Hopefully you get your new one soon! I could see your channel expediting things. I completely understand people needing the stow and deploy because of physical issues and as a safety feature because things can happen fast as it happened to me, my rope broke when lifting the motor out of water and slipped and I went into the water, well it was a cold windy winter day and my phone was in my pocket and my truck keys fell out. I was able to make one call before my phone didn’t work anymore and waited about an hour in the bottom of my boat shaking like a leaf before my wife got there. I thought I was going to die. I’ll never forget when I got picked up, I cranked the heat and stripped my wet clothes off and it took me a long time to warm up. I now always put my phone and keys in a waterproof box in a compartment as soon as I step into my boat as well as a change of clothes/ towel… Keep us updated!

Nobody should have to justify why or what they bought. I love the stow and deploy option... and really enjoy the ability to power adjust the depth of the motor too ! No issues with mine to date.

Thank you for the update. Glad they were able to find you a TM. My father and I previously owned an Ulterra because he was unable to stow and deploy any other TM. The auto stow and deploy was huge for him. Although it didn’t come without issues. We repaired the TM several times including having one warrantied out for a full replacement. Hopefully this one works perfectly for you.

I recall back in mid 80's I bought a Minn Kota 3hp transom mount trolling motor with the new @ that time variable speed & nothing but troubles. Soon they figured out a better design & hope this repeats for this motor. I relate yo your situation. This is the 1st year since 2017 that I've been able to fish due to plaque psoriasis on most of my finger tips. Unable to tie knots & some days all I could do to get my zipper up. Really appreciate you educating your viewers on challenges some may face sooner than they may realize.

Yes! So happy to hear they are shipping you a new motor. Hope you get back on the water soon and are out there slaying the fish, Randy!

Thanks for posting this information and for sharing your experience. I just canceled an order for an Ulterra Quest as I saw your video just after placing an order. It's difficult to understand Minn Kota's horrible approach to customer service. So glad they appear to finally be taking care of you. Hope you are back fishing soon and again, thank you for posting so as to save others from similar disappointment!

I have an Ulterra that I got in 2020. I love to just hit that button and it will launch or stow. I launch my boat a lot and just let the boat float off and drive it back to me after I park my truck and it works great. I recently had a problem though, I launched it at the Arkansas River and it was floating by the dam gate and would not deploy all the way. The wind came up and pushed my boat up inside the lock to where I couldn't even see it. I luckily called a friend who came out and took me up inside the gate and rescued my boat. I was able to get it to deploy right before it went out of sight but then I got the message motor error with the x across the picture of the motor. When my friend took me up into the lock to get my boat, I used my remote and everything was working like normal. So frustrating. I hope your situation works out for you soon. A fellow Arkansas.

Congratulations, I'm glad that they found you a motor. Hopefully it will be a good one. I'm 64 now and my balance isn't great anymore. I know exactly what you're talking about.

I feel for you Bud. It’s sucks getting old and when your fishing tools don’t work. Without my Ulterra I would not be able to fish by myself anymore.

I'm just about 48 years old. Im looking at getting the same trolling motor. I had a full shoulder replacement on my right shoulder 8 months ago. Left shoulder needs some work as well.
To lift anything relatively sucks. I would want this motor to work as intended.

Love my ulterra. I have a Bluetooth 2021 model. Only issue I’ve had is when I forgot to release the TM stabilizer and had to reset it. I keep it lubed up and shaft sprayed with pledge. I did have a marine electronics engineer advise me to not buy any motors etc from any of the big three for a year or so to expose problems. He said they have to release so fast to keep up with the competition. Also, to hell with all the keyboard warriors. You do you and I’ll do what’s best for me. Like they say, “watch your own bobbers!” Lol
    Tight lines and good luck

I really want to get an Ulterra but man I’m nervous about issues. I spend most of the summer in Canada and no TM would suck, and warranty repair isn’t just down the road here.

happy to hear u got it solved Randy. Although... if u ask me what is the probability of the next one never having that issue again.. my gut tells me its pretty slim, so u better have a backup plan

I've noticed my Ulterra 2020 model stows better if I raise it up out of the water with the remote then have no issues stowing. Haven't had any stow issues since doing it this way. Hope it helps

I have a 2015 ultera and I found if you keep up with the maintenance and you would have any problems.

When I ordered my 2019 boat the ulterra that came with it wouldn’t stow and went all crazy doing things on its own. I called Minn Kota and they wanted me to bring to repair center. Long story short I demanded a new trolling motor. The new one has been flawless since 2019 with not 1 issue.

Minn Kota has been a great product for many years. However more recently as trolling motors have become more complex the top two brands (Minn Kota and Motor Guide) have had trouble keeping pace with their past quality. I’m sure there are some valid reasons for technical problems however there is no excuse for poor customer service, especially with the price they get for their products. They should have resolved the issue even if they had to go buy one at retail from Bass Pro and send it to you. Hopefully you’ll get the new one and it will work out well. I’m several years older than you and I’m trying to stay with it but it’s get in tougher. Keep on fishing while you can.

They should have sent you the riptide version (White for saltwater). In one of the comments from @kennethreichert2739, He mentions raising it up before you stow, That is how my dealer told me to operate mine. I've never had an issue. Maybe there is something to that... Worth a try... I hate to hear things like this. Seam like since COVID, nothing is dependable anymore. Minn Kota used to be the "One and Only" now, seams like even that name is headed for the toilet... Such a shame.

So what exactly was the problem HB resolved? Or did they just ship you another unit without a resolution ?

They are producing these motors DAILY. They have simply chosen to fulfill dealer orders first. They have a production quota daily.

Its highway robbery that they want $400 for the quick release bracket that moves the Ulterra quest back 10 inches so it doesn't hit your tow vehicle.

I have no way of knowing that. I just know after the video had been up 48 hours I got a phone call from Minn Kota saying they had sourced me a motor.
