    There are two types of tennis players l. Those who use a one handed backhand, and those who wish they used a one handed backhand.

    Hey Uros, your explanation of one-handed backhand using the net I find great. Myself, I used this method to teach my daughter double-handed BH as she some years ago still was at the one-handed. We succeeded. So thanks for the good idea!

    If you use the Budge grip you can use a bent elbow forearm swing that is FAR MORE forgiving as to the contact point. Not as much power and little topspin are the cons. But the classic Budge grip also hits flat and slice with the same grip. Loops high balls with a forearm snap, and is much easier for rec players to learn and maintain.

    Coach, would you be able to explain how you are "releasing" your wrist during contact? Is this coming from the weight transfer forward and "snapping" the whip? This type of snap is really easy on the forehand side but its a mystery to me on the backhand.

    • @urostennis
      @urostennis  Год назад +1

      Good question. Generally "snapping the wrist" can cause more challenges than positives... as the wrist is incredibly fast joint and hard to control. The arm itself gets pulled the forearm creates the "windshield wiper" type movement, and the wrist follows if you keep it relaxed enough. Depending on the shot you are trying to hit (your location, type of ball...also to be taken in consideration), this would be more or less extreme. Tell me more and I am happy to help!

    Great video Uros! Please ‘remind’ us what is the knuckles on top grip called ? Cheers Hector

    • @urostennis
      @urostennis  2 года назад

      Hector! Great question. It is a full western grip just inverted. So if you have a continental grip and then move the knuckles over a tad more. All the best.

    One thing I noticed that affects the shot is the follow through. Going straight up keeping racket facing upwards vs going behind with racket face downwards will affects the power and direction control. Can you make video on between these two follow thru finish? Thank you in advance.

    • @urostennis
      @urostennis  Год назад

      You bet Harshit! What really affects the shot is what the racquet is doing up to contact point - and if you are going more low to high or more leveled with it, will make a difference in the outcome of the shot. I will be happy to make a video on this... stay tuned. Uros

    how do you hit the high 1 handed backhand like shoulder high ? all you doing in this vides is low 1handed backhand and waist high ..

    • @urostennis
      @urostennis  Год назад +2

      Hello Jin Jin! You are correct I am. The idea is to move in order to create a waist height impact for yourself. So get your feet moving and try avoid hitting a ball at shoulder height. DEPENDING on your level of play, I would suggest a chest height contact at the highest.... as that will allow you to spin or drive the ball. If it does end up being higher, hit it with topspin upwards - and create a nice arc with good racquet speed to push the opponent back. All the best, Uros

    • @TheDrakulie
      @TheDrakulie Год назад +1

      @@urostennis this is impossible most of the time. guy that hits huge topspin all the time to your backand, you would have to camp out at the back fence and give up court position. you will get destroyed that way. you need to learn how to hit consistent shoulder high 1 handed backhand to stay in the point til you get the short ball around waist high

    • @urostennis
      @urostennis  Год назад +1

      @@TheDrakulie It really depends on your level of play - by the sounds of it you are 4.5 or higher. If someone is hitting with heavy topspin your contact point becomes higher, assuming you are also sending back a ball with a solid amount of spin. Ideally contacting the ball around chest height. KEY is to make this contact point in FRONT of the body even more so than on a waist height ball... otherwise your arm "breaks" and becomes weaker. Will make a video on this - it is a good point to discuss. And when possible, do try to take it around your waist height potentially on the rise, or slice it if you find it going above your shoulders... shoot me an email if you'd like to discuss more lessons@budimactennis.com and I will be happy to help:)

    1. Get a ball machine. Do not waste time hitting with a teacher, or the wall.
    2. Relax and visualize your stroke. Maybe visualize the Tsitsi bh.
    3. Try to make good solid contact. Do not be overly concerned as to the path of the ball at this stage. It will come within 10 hours on the machine....I'm assuming you are an athlete of course.

    0:50 see right there: you 'opened' the face. This is unnecessary and actually complicates the shot - a little bit of unwelcome pronation/supination (where the pronation also becomes a default defensive reaction = not good). Just do a Dimitrov or Lajovic: keep the face angle neutral. One or two players will actually slightly close the face - eg Lajovic sometimes.
