Because Super Nintendo Is the whole world brand. Super famicom Is the name used only in Japan, because the Nes was called famicom and so the subsequent console has been branded as super famicom. But It has the same design of the european version.

In Europe we got the japanese design as well. I also had a US version but I never really understood why they changed the design.
The port on the bottom side was for the CD device which later turned into the Playstation.
Modules should be able to use on bith systems as long a you cut of some piece of the module port. I've done that a lot in my youth no matter if SNES or Genesis aka Megadrive.

I agree. They didn't think the design for the east would appeal to the western audience. I disagree with this thought tho but thats just me. I appreciate the comment!

The hardware shown in the video Is a japanese super Famicom. Japanese SNES version has only the same shape of the european one, but it's an NTSC/60Hz hardware. So you can run japanese cartridges in a North American SNES and run US cartridges in a Japanese Super Famicom/Snes Just by cutting off two plastic tabs inside the cartridges slot.
The same operations that we made in Italy in the '90s after modifying the hardware to let our SNES/Genesis/PlayStation run NTSC/PAL 60/50Hz games, mixing the best fps with the best resolution and colours of an RGB Scart.
