I disagree about storage chest, I think they should go in the borderline category since you can get them through writ vouchers doing crafting writs I only bought once a crate through crowns all others through writs. Just do daily writs sometimes you will get the special writ and if you have the mats and the motif then you can crafted and exchange for vouchers

Anything cosmetic, for convenience, or to reduce time to collect (by using money) on a character is good business. Crates are not good (gambling). Increasing power level of any kind is not good (that should be done through time engaging in the content in game). If someone's got money to spare go for it, it's just entertainment.

The armoury effectively allows you to respec for free if you leave the second slot empty. Also Twitch drops allow you to get frequent crown crate fixes if you watch for the required period of time and link your account. Opening these and converting unwanted items to gems also increases the choice of the items you can choose to collect using gems. Crates from drops build up quite quickly especially during DLC launch events.
For PC players be careful of "account wide" purchases - they're not - they are limited to the megaserver on which you purchased them in game. The only items that truly apply account wide are those you buy in top level game DLC on the website or those you redeem on your account page online. This is something that ZoS fails to make clear as they claim some items in the Crown Store are "Account Wide" when they're server limited.

    • @JarredPearman

you can get the necromancer and warden classes when buying the ESO Collection (base game+all chapters). In crown store they are sold separately from their respective chapter, so you'll save lots of money if you buy the collection instead if you haven't own most chapters and both the dlc classes this way.

The banker is the best thing I've ever bought in crown store. Very useful.
The inventory pets actually stack for a total of 10 extra inventory on every character.
Some motifs are crown store exclusive so if you're a collector thats the only way to get it. I believe the Frostcaster motif in the video is crown store exclusive. You're right about not buying the regular race motifs though, I would even add to that the "rare" motifs, which could probably all be had for 3000 gold in game.
The storage chests can be bought in game with writ vouchers and I think 1 even comes as a character level up reward now, I could be wrong about that. I got my second account from 20 CP to around 300 CP just by doing enough writs for the boxes, during an exp event and with a 150% exp scroll.

I buy a lot of skyshard upgrades.
Here’s why they’re worth it for me.
I play mostly solo. I’m into roleplaying my characters, going slow, questing, reading books instead of just clicking once to open ans again to close, making up my own dialogue when I interact with npcs… Even my wife get frustrated and impatient with me. I play very little with others and I haven’t enjoyed any pvp so far.
So that locks me out of a lot of skill points. Now I enjoy hunting down all the skyshards in a landscape. Really, I do. But mostly the first time. Going through that on every single alt again and again and again… not so much. The first time feels exciting, it’s an exercise in exploration, and an achievent when you find the last one. Subsequent times feels more like tedious grinding.
So I’m happy to sink some of my crowns in that. I’m not super into flashy pets and cosmetics, so, yeah.

Summonable banker then merchant (both essential - you'll use them like extra limbs). Then it depends. If you're getting serious about DPS buy an atronach (trial) dummy - you'll need a house to put it in of course. Then summonable ragpicker (best used with a dedicated expert level crafter character since she extracts what you would if you traipsed round the tables). Then completed stuff. If one of your characters has got all the skyshards in a zone you can buy them on another character - instant skill points. And some skill lines once maxed out on one character become purchasable for others - instant level 10. Top of the list is the Mage line. If you think Molag Bal sapped your soul, try the great book hunting slog sometime... Of course you could blow it all on making your character glow if you like. I wouldn't judge you but nor would I wait for you every time you have to gallop back to town.
As to inventory and bank space - mount training every day and buy upgrades with in-game gold if you need to. If you have the banker and merchant you probably won't.

I agree with almost everything. The one thing I disagree with is the storage chests. While it may take you a bit longer to get to that point, you can earn them with writ vouchers. I bought my first two with crowns before knowing this. Now after 1yr of play, I've made enough writ vouchers to buy all the rest of the chests, a full set of crafting tables, the Glass Motifs, a Transmute station and I'm waiting for the Zenithar event with over 250 Master writs saved up to do (I'll be rolling in the writ vouchers after this event.) You can always create mule characters early on if you need to store some extra stuff. Way cheaper.

4 month player here. I invested in the year sub to ESO+ getting the 20ish k crowns that come with it 3 days into my play. I do a lot of solo play and leveling alts/writs. My thoughts are:
    1) I use my banker assistant countless times per day on every character. It's 100% essential. I also just bought the armory assistant and he will be second most used once I get rolling with him. I also bought the merchant and use her but less frequently, needed for me though not game-breaking to pass on.
    2) I bought the Imperial pack. Not necessary but whatever. I want all races and classes. The necro and warden came with the Blackwood game package.
    3) I am currently at 12 characters for writs/variety and will be filling out to 18 just because I want to. Character slots are a purely personal choice but glad it's an option. If nothing else they can serve as mules for items/gear.
    4) Inventory pets, helpful especially when multiplied across many characters.
    5) Houses. I gotta admit, I am really into housing. At this point the houses that I really want the most are crown store rotation houses only. I just bought a large amount of crowns during the holiday sale knowing that I will likely buy a home or 2 furnished when they roll around again or if another one comes out I like. The price is so high but I know
    6) Armory slots. I can see down the road maybe getting an extra one for select characters that I really use most.
    7) I bought the Adept Starter pack and a cheap costume for some flavor fun with the initial crown budget from the year sub.
    8) Certain skill line completions may be helpful down the road depending on choices.
Most everything else is either purely cosmetic and personal choice or just exorbitantly priced or both. Some of the things in there I can actually see spending crowns/real money on if they made a massive cost reduction like 90% off. I am not sure how they decide on the pricings they have but it is what it is. A big factor I think people will use to determine what they buy is whether they are spending ESO+ crowns or additionally purchased ones. It's a lot easier to justify spending 'free' crowns than extra paid ones, especially if there is little that you really want/need.

@@MauraMaudJadeit - Storage chests require player housing. The housing you get from questing allows one storage chest. And you get one storage chest from leveling.
New players have other ways of increasing storage like bag space upgrades and bank space upgrades.
New players should be researching traits while they level up instead of waiting until level 50 to start.
New players can also browse through guild stores to find writ vouchers they can complete once they get 10 in a crafting passive.
Besides all that, how much stuff is a new player really hoarding? Collecting sets before CP 160 is pointless. Especially with the sticker book. There are only a few motifs you can't learn until later in the skill tree. You level up too fast for it to make sense to hoard crafting materials before CP 160 (other than JC platings).
Alternatively, you can get storage chests for tel var stones, but it's a slog to get that many.
If you want to spend real world money so you can store more stuff in a video game, that's your prerogative, but there are people out there who don't want to do that. There are alternatives for those people.

FYI: You can't earn all of the available bank/bag slots without buying them in the crown store. You will reach a limit to what you can buy in game and still have slots available to open for crowns.

Thank you so much for making this.
I just started playing eso last month since the beta.
I found this house that was for sale called sweetwater cascades when I first logged in and was checking out the houses for sale.
I was mindblown by how much in game gold you need to buy it, as well as how much it costs in crowns.
Over $100 just for the house.
    Holy crap lol
Well I didnt realize back when I was viewing that house that it was a limited item.
I bought 20k crowns to buy a house for my account.
The house isnt for sale anymore and I just have all these crowns now.
I did spend some of them but I'm still holding onto 16k crowns for the opportunity to purchase a house I want but I'm not really into any of the houses except for the ebonheart chateau, and even that needs a bigger yard lol
    Maybe a swimming hole ;)
One thing I have an issue with is the cost for everything in the crown store.
    Why is everything practically $50+?
Your advice to not buy reskills and restats is advising against spending $7 for but here I am sweating over higher values lol
I can reason spending money on the restat/skill because you said you can only do it one time per character at level 50 for free.
Spending $7 to redo yourself into another build isnt so bad.
Losing $50-$130 to the wrong housing investment is my biggest scare hahaha

There are little shrines in the faction capitols (Elden Root in Grahtwood, Mournhold in Deshaan, and Stormhaven in Wayrest) where one can spend a few thousand gold to reskill/restat. Absolutely NOT WORTH spending crowns on. Please.

    • @locuus
      @locuus 2 года назад

No no no, DON'T spend crowns on respecs.
You can reset your skills/attributes for like 3-5K gold, which you can get in minutes really. Just doing the daily crafting writs on 1 character gives you over 4500g for maybe 5 mins of crafting even if you are level 1 crafter.
Also you can respect everything on your character for free at any time if you get the FREE armory station from the crown store and just load an empty setup. Your guild probably has one of these as well.

I'm ok with having a crown store. As gamers some of us make that initial purchase then expect to get lots of hours out of the game, expect our game to run flawlessly, and to have new content constantly coming in. If buying stuff from the store supports the game in any way then I'll participate every now and then.

I agree, crown crates are not worth the effort to get the top tier items. It's good if you want a rather lower tier object or some random surprise pet. I wanted to get an Ursauk one time for my vampire druidic roleplay build, but settled for a Stonelore bear. In exchange, I got some tattoos and miscellaneous pets, after 4 tries of the 15 crate boxes between myself and my brother. Not worth the effort, but those who do get what they want it's cool.

So far I just bought the frost horse to go with the crystalfrost skin. I'll probably spend mine on some mounts. I tried not to splurge right off and spend alot of crowns at once tho. I figure new stuff will come out every month and I still got 12 months of plus time! I might get that Indrik mount this month seeing as I missed all of last years events and I didnt get the collectors edition (didnt realize) so I had zero mounts when I started.

The fact that it's **OPTIONAL** and helps provide new content is excellent... I like the idea.... BTW, Crown repair kits are useful because one kit repairs ALL of your damaged equipment... Also, they can be used right before a boss fight in a dungeon... without having to be at the merchant... Houses are often overlooked, and are overlooked here, in the fact that you can fast-travel **for free** from any PvE area on the map....

Could someone please advice me what I ought to by if I want to start a guild for me and some friends? They are mostly casual gamers but I want to make it as convenient for them as possible, so the merchant and bank assistant sounds like great buys.
And I didn’t understand the armory thing. Is it something for a house? Like where does it go?

    • @Ruby1592
      @Ruby1592 2 года назад

The armory station is free in the crown store and once you have it one can be placed in each of your houses. It allows you to create mulitiple builds on each charcter. Allowing you to quickly change your gear, skills, cp and attributes, as well as vampire and werewolf status without having to constantly pay to respec. There's also an assistant that allows you to do this outside your home

    • @Ruby1592
      @Ruby1592 2 года назад +1

Some good things for a guild house might include:
(for crowns) - the banker and merchant assistants, the vampiric furnishing pack to allow people to change their vampire stage easily, a target dummy (perferably the trial dummy), the aetherial well, and maybe some of the more popular mundas stones.
Stuff that can be purchased with gold or writ vouchers would be least 1 set of basic crafting tables, outfit station, transmute station.

Anything you can buy with gold; exchanging gold for crowns is permitted by ZOS, and exchanging crowns for gold with another player (eg; world crown exchange discord), then buying that thing is almost always 10x cheaper (furniture, respec, style books, bag space, etc..). Also never buy DLC, those come free with the (significantly cheaper) monthly subscription.
Things I will always buy with crowns: Undaunted skill line, mages guild skill line, riding speed. These just save way too much time (literal months).
