    Blend info
The Luminaire, Drawndown, and Party Line pipe tobacco blends are members of Missouri Meerschaum's celebrated MMC Elite series. Manufactured by Cornell & Diehl, these three blends honor Henry Tibbe and the pivotal role he and his family played in modernizing Washington, Missouri's infrastructure. On New Year's Eve of 1892, Anton Tibbe, son of founder Henry Tibbe, brought electricity to Washington for the first time, after setting up the town's first power plant. The Luminaire blend celebrates that historic event with a flake-cut mixture of Red Virginias, Cavendish, Katerini Orientals, and St. James Perique.
    Content: Cavendish, Oriental/Turkish, Perique, Virginia
    Flavouring: None
    Cut: Broken flake

I am so happy I found your channel. Been smoking pipes since 1980. Collected pipes all over Europe while in the Army. I love MM Cob pipes. I prefer the filter ones. I have about 9 of them. Again great review thanks for sharing

Sounds lovely - this blend sounds right up my alley. I do like oriental forward tobaccos.
Interesting hearing about the advantages of a Corn Cob, something I had not considered. They sound perfect for a work day out in the field and an ideal alternative to the Falcon which I often use.

Corncobs are Awesome! All pipe smokers should have them in their inventory! So sweet a smoke! Spend the money & get one with an acrylic stem! Just as good as real meersham, IMO, but I have one of those as well! Great channel you have! Keep piping!

Most enjoyable video & subject. Corn cobs are indeed are wonderful pipes, like you rightly say they are in many ways like a meerschaum. I was lucky to acquire two of the CS Bing's favourite i would have send you one but i know you have one already😊 I love the look of the Charles Towne Cobbler but unfortunately it is no longer available on Cgars or GQ. So far only smokingpipes has it in stock. The guy you are giving it to would love it. For now i might go for a similar corn cob called Missouri Meerschaum Emerald bent Corn Cob available on GQ tobacco. Take care my friend. Regards Daniel & Beth

Thanks Daniel. The MM Emerald has gorgeous green stem and it indeed looks similar in appearance & quality to the Charles Towne Cobbler. Yes I have now the country Squire Bing’s favourite but thanks for the thought😊 be well & Regards beck.

What a perfectly enjoyable video. The blend sounds intriguing. If you don't mind me asking, and of course, please don't feel compelled to answer, but generally speaking, what is the nature of your business? Marketing? Advertising? Architecture? I sense some creative-leaning endeavor. I am quite enjoying your channel. Please keep it up. Cheers!🥂 ☮

If you ever get a corn cob without finishing (with plaster and varnish) on the bowl, e.g Freehand or MacArthur, it will smoke even cooler and the surface of bowl practically stays cool at all times!

I've not tried that blenb yet, but have smoked many of their other blends. They've all been good. I have several MM pipes. I live just down river from them, so try to fo my part to support a local business.

One more thing there is a bit of a break in. The first few smokes you usually get a bit of a corn flavor that comes through but goes away after 3-5 bowls & also need to get a good char on the hardwood shank. Then they smoke as well as any other pipe I have

Great review, Nathan. Period. I am with you on the briars. They are true works of art. That being said, when nobody’s looking, I reach for my corn cobs. lol. You should check out the MM Emerald. It has a brass band. The one modification I make on mine that makes the most difference and how they smoke is as follows. I take either a Dremel tool or a drill and get rid of most of the stem that comes through the bowl that’s on the inside. I then make what is called pipe mortar, which consists of one part of plaster of Paris, .6 part activated charcoal, which is derived from coconut husks, and 1/2 apart ordinary, iodized table, salt. You mix that very well together and then start adding a little bit of water at a time until you get what appears to be clay. Then carefully push that clay into the bottom of the bowl. Take the stem off and insert a 3 mm drillbit, so it sticks out into the bowl. Then finish smoothing out the mortar. It starts to dry. You can take the drillbit out. The result is a pipe that you will not get as much ash or bit of tobacco in your mouth. It will never burn out through the bottom either. If you want to see that pipe mortar made, go to Canerodpiper channel and do a search on pipe mortar

My dear John I am not sure if I should even attempt to carry out your very specific & knowledgeable instructions as I am fairly certain I would ruin the pipe instead of upgrading it😂 I already gathered by watching one of your technical videos that you are a tinker who enjoys using your knowledge & skills. I think it was about a humble pipe lighter that listening to you describing the inner workings it sounded like a rocket science seminar😊 I think John best I carry on smoking my Corn Cob the way it was originally designed😀 anyway thanks for the interesting reading. Take care

@@TheVapingPiper thank you for responding Nathan. Another thing I have done that is really easy is to put one of those .75 inch diameter screens inside the bottom of the pipe. The screens are commonly used for smoking pot. Every one of the stores locally will have those screens for sale. My issue with the corncob pipe that I was trying to fix is the gaping draft hole that sucks Ash and tobacco right into your mouth. When I was visiting the Missouri Meerschaum factory I mentioned that I was getting a lot of ash and bits of tobacco in my mouth because of the giant draft tube. The lady I was talking to suggested I try the screens. My Missouri Meerschaum Bing has a screen in it. That screen also prevents burning the wood stem that would be below it. I hope that is a much simpler and easy solution. You might not even have had that problem. I was just constantly sucking all kinds of trash into my mouth when I was smoking my corn cob pipes. You have a great week, my friend.

    • @TheVapingPiper
      @TheVapingPiper  4 месяца назад

Oh, that screen you mentioned sounds a lot more practical. Thanks for the idea that might be useful if I come across the sucking ash issue. Have a great day John.
