Listening to recommended songs in the background while surfing the internet. Every once in a blue moon a song will sink in and i'll have to start listening closely and pay more attention. Then i'll have to play it over again just to get another hit. That's when it hits me. I like this; no I really like this. Like this band is going to become a part of my life. Like I need more of this. I guess it's kind of like panning for gold. You shake the filter while thinking about other things, not really expecting to find anything. And so it goes for weeks on end. Then you look down. Is that a spec of gold? It is. Keep shaking. Oh man there is more here! I've really got something! Yeah let's play this song a third time. Then probably a fourth. What other songs does this band have on here and are they as good? Let's get this journey started and see just how deep is the rabbit hole.
@@based7881 hearing Jim live on videos is insane. I think Maynard has gotten older obviously and he's also focused on other things like wine and martial arts and whatnot. He's very busy. What I love about Jim is his ability to alternate between falsetto and those powerful shouts that he uses when belting notes. Honestly he's one of the best vocalists I've heard in metal and music in general for my taste.
That riff at the end was just ridiculous. This band is progressive at lightning speed. Like a Karnivool with incredible guitar phrasing and solos and a bit of Opeth flavoured riffage. And best band name ever, because horses make the best senators!
Sam, Jim, Zac, Dave, Geoff, all of the guys in CALIGULA'S HORSE... Bought it, and can't stop listening... One of my top ten albums of all time. And this song is a horrendous heart-breaker. ALMOST PERFECT... You cast the PERFECT female lead for the video... Almost too much for me to bear...
The harmonys the power the singing thats all perfect - i can hear it again and again and its not boring. All what they do is perfect timed. nothing is nerving or penetrated to long. I thing this time the most and best Prog-Music is coming from down. under.
I usually discover new bands to listen to like these guys while I'm seeing other bands. I was at the gig they played last night with Opeth and I was like : These guys are good. Also its a bonus that they're a Brisbane band cause you don't see many australian metal bands.
+Lissa Winchester I only just found out because they'll be playing alongside Plini and Tesseract (my fav band) soon :) Nice to know that the one band I've never heard of in the lineup is fucking awesome too :D Gonna be an amazing night start to fin :)
+Lissa Winchester Thats the same with me and Thy Art Is Murder, they were playing at Riverstage in Brisbane when i went to see Parkway Drive, and they were quite good...
If you don't know Toxicon, check out their album "Purge". They're A thrash-prog metal band from Geelong, Australia. Good mates with a couple of members. Listen to Event Horizon first.
Loving these guys. Checked em out cause they’re supporting TesseracT in Perth this October. They’ve got that groove like TesseracT does, but occasionally do some more Twelve Foot Ninja sounding stuff. Loving it guys! Keep it up (Y)
5 years later, I stunble across you guys again. How you have not surpassed a few hundred thousand subs is beyond me. Howzit from a fellow English sub country...South Africa :)
And yet you initially spoke with such conviction and hate. I'll put it to you this way: I've listened to a fair amount of djent (not every band ever, but more than just a handful), and I can't think of any one specific band which they resemble particularly strongly. I'm kind of disappointed; I love this band and would love to hear more music that is somewhat similar. I suppose I'm just going to have to wait for the album to be released...
Hey mate, feel free to reply to me anytime you like with all those bands/musicians of which this song reminds you. Would absolutely love some new music like this.
Don't bother, the guy's a fool. Yeah, maybe the guitar tone is reminiscent of "djent" bands but the term progressive metal is definitely more appropriate here. Anyway, fuck the tags; this band makes incredible music and it's all that matters in the end.
Things I've heard don't correspond directly to names I remember, considering I don't like it, it would be stupid and pointless to remember it. No and I don't plan on doing it.
Can anyone read lips? Looks like "when you reach the end, just remember that you are great" to me haha. That's probably, mostly wrong... but I wonder what he actually said. Anyone got a guess?
***** True, djent is a type of progressive metal, but it's a very distinct style that this band doesn't fall under. Caligula's Horse is progressive metal, yes, and there are some rhythms in their music that could be considered "djenty" or taken from the same vein of influence as many djent bands, but their main influences come from older progressive bands like Opeth and Dream Theater. I can't consider their overall sound to be "djent".
Djent isn’t a fucking genre, it’s a sound. Muting guitar strings is djent. Perhaps you need a refresher course... m.ruclips.net/video/YTkuJ4vRQZM/видео.html
Nah I can read just fine, buddy. Still waiting on those bands, though. A broad statement like 'djent with singing' won't dig you out of this hole you backed yourself into.
Well then now that we have cleared up the quality let us move on. I noticed you are subscribed to PewDiePie so there goes originality. What else really needs to be said?
The reason why I asked you is because you claimed it was unoriginal. When you recognise something to be unoriginal, you are comparing it to something else of which you already know. You didn't do a very good job of naming other bands with the same sound.
You mean his drum parts or his presence physically? Either way, they've got a new drummer now. Also, in my opinion, Geoff doesn't need to be super animated; I feel like his drum parts make up for what he doesn't do physically. That's just me. It's always cool to have an active drummer
Great band but the Sithu aye/PLINI LIKE SOUNDING GUITAR SOLO,S ARE USED IN ALMOST EVERY NUMBER. VALLEN TIME FOR SOME MORE VARIATION IN YOUR SOLO,S PLEASE KEEP IT ORIGINAL.
Caligula's Horse was formed in 2010, first album released on april 2nd, 2011. Sithu Aye, 2011, first album or ep, september 26, 2011. Plini, 2012, first single or ep, january 2nd, 2013.

Beautiful
True dat! LOVE LOVE LOVE them!
Brilliant song writers, Vallen is a guitar god quietly waiting.
+Ash Err For sure. Fricken amazing. Just waiting for that opportunity. Playing for the music, not just shear technicality.
jesus fucking christ.. blog it, bro.
"this time the wheel has come around" no one has sounded more like Maynard than when he sings this line and it's awesome
Very true
I still think he is a more capable singer than maynard

7 Years now - still on my playlist. Incredible band. Incredible song.

Holy crap, what an amazing track! Absolute killer. Just got to discover the band, already fell in love.

Saw you guys 3 times now and I swear you guys get better each time! I'll see you guys again at Opeth!
Spotify brought me here!
You guys rock! Thank you for the song.
Incredible! Those vocals are so good
I love the jazzy progression at around 1:45!
Why have I not heard about this awesome group ever?!
Right!? :D
Awesome!! Been looking for a new prog metal band that doesn't do the same overplayed things as many others do. Good stuff guys :)
Great band!!
The harmonys the power the singing thats all perfect - i can hear it again and again and its not boring. All what they do is perfect timed. nothing is nerving or penetrated to long. I thing this time the most and best Prog-Music is coming from down. under.
Extremely refreshing!!
Amazing, so looking forward to the new album.
Sweet Song, Sweet Video! Found these guys today, and I'm Pumped!
Ironic to me that one of the few videos that *doesn't* feature Jim with long hair is the song with the word "hair" in the title lol
Great song, I bought the album because of it. I always try support Australian metal bands. Hopefully I catch you guys on a tour

This song is a monster in the best way possible! Really looking forward to the album. :D
This is awesome
Love it !
If you really like this song. Check out their other song Dream the Dead, off of the album In Contact. Very powerful song.
Loving these guys. Checked em out cause they’re supporting TesseracT in Perth this October. They’ve got that groove like TesseracT does, but occasionally do some more Twelve Foot Ninja sounding stuff. Loving it guys! Keep it up (Y)
I'd say more karnivool..
I'm really tire of all teenager screaming vocals... Finally good clean ones from a djent band. This band is amazing.
South African Tour Announced!!!! Cannot wait!
Gorgeous.
Killer song!!"
Wow you guys, this is stunning!
Pretty late to the party, but this is a great video for a great track. Bravo!
Dude, me too. Just "discovered" this killer band yesterday!!
@@theddrums2083 Well, they're in the process of recording a new album right now, so there is more gold to come!
Completely bad ass guys!! Very nice job indeed!
Never heard of you before opening for Opeth last night in Orkland. Impressed! High time you did a proper visit.
5 years later, I stunble across you guys again. How you have not surpassed a few hundred thousand subs is beyond me. Howzit from a fellow English sub country...South Africa :)
WoW that's Awesome
Absolutely tight on everything !!!
Super groovy and melodic! I would definitely buy your next album :)
INCREDIBLE stuff guys. Can't wait until everyone gets to hear the whole album!
This is ridiculously good.
Amazing 😲😲😲😲
I always wondered what happened to Kane after the brotherhood of NOD got taken down.
Great tune guys :-)
The woman they got to play the abused woman is fucking awesome. You can see it in her eyes that she isn't going to take shit from anyone anymore.
oh my god
Banda fantástica, tenho a discografia!
+Douglas Silva Top demais \o/
+Julio Rocha FODA MSM
Topzeira mesmo
Nice!
100 views an hour. Killing it!
Totally fucking amazing! Keep busting it out guys! :D
So captain Flint is a singer now?

Which bands does this remind you of? I'd love to hear more music that is similar!
I'm almost certain now that Australia genetically modifies their musicians... I KNOW DIS!
They definitely do, check out King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
Wow.
Like being pummeled in the teste satchel by Mike Tyson in his ear-biting era. Hard grooving, emotionally invigorating, smart music!
That chorus reminds me of Nick Cave for some reason, like "as i sat sadly by her side" or something
bello

This is just tasty.
Verses sound very fashionable.
This gave may chills, I guess this song has the recipe lol
Why I always crie in 1:48?
Totally should have highlighted Geoff's red hair too
Fucking brilliant.
Fucking powerful.
Fuck the haters. This is awesome. Excellent work!
10/10
The 3rd good thing that came out of Australia.
If you manage to get over the vocals, you'll enjoy the quality of the music.
nothing new. just decent music.
Have you heard their other album?
No, this is the the first time I've heard of the band.
Listen to their first album, I think you'll charge your mind.
Wow, wow, wow, what just did happened to my ears? So fucking delicious, just like a sneeze but better 😂
Fuck my eyes this is good!!!!
How did you get Kirk Hammet to play drums for you
He seems to be a lot better at drum too
How does that even make sense? I wasn't criticising the video quality.
fuck me, This is good

What does this have to do with Incitatus?????????????
I will never know why Jim cut his hair and grew a beard. I think he should have stayed clean-shaven like he was in 2012
gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
Can anyone read lips?
Looks like "when you reach the end, just remember that you are great" to me haha. That's probably, mostly wrong... but I wonder what he actually said. Anyone got a guess?
"When the wall is quiet, just the whisper breaks your rest" they say that in a couple of songs beside this one.
Giuliana Gasparini When the world is quiet...
Matías Aldea Definitely when the world is quiet... I forgot that they do say that several times in this album...
love that album !
Would it be better if it was uploaded from a shitty phone like all the videos on your channel?
Repeated syncopated palm mutes have been around decades before djent.
Cool, let's hear those djent singing bands that sound just like these guys. I'd like some actual band names if possible.
bald jim lmao
this has leprous vibes or vice versa.... either way, love it...
Roy Khan is that you? Lmao
I don't know why people keep calling this djent. It's not djent.
***** True, djent is a type of progressive metal, but it's a very distinct style that this band doesn't fall under. Because to a lot of people, more than six strings means it's "djent". Ignore them... haha
Because it's a joke and you're that one guy that takes it seriously while everyone's laughing at you
Djent isn’t a fucking genre, it’s a sound. Muting guitar strings is djent. Perhaps you need a refresher course... m.ruclips.net/video/YTkuJ4vRQZM/видео.html
jim looks like derren brown in this video and i dont know why
Nah I can read just fine, buddy. Still waiting on those bands, though. A broad statement like 'djent with singing' won't dig you out of this hole you backed yourself into.
Are you really trying to argue against my opinion of this music by analysing my RUclips account?
Seriously?
Is it me or I am seeing Ragnar Lodbrok sing?
Well then now that we have cleared up the quality let us move on. I noticed you are subscribed to PewDiePie so there goes originality. What else really needs to be said?
SikTh anyone?
Ryan Reynolds is that you?
The reason why I asked you is because you claimed it was unoriginal. When you recognise something to be unoriginal, you are comparing it to something else of which you already know. You didn't do a very good job of naming other bands with the same sound.
Great Vocals wow, but it falls somewhere between late 80's and new prog. Imagery anyway. A band better heard than seen for sure.
Dramatic plunges aren't warranted.. let the song speak. Great band, the more I hear of them.
No way Jim was bald once
Any djent with singing will do the trick - there's mountains of that crap around.
Don't know why you'd ask me about it as I obviously hate this stuff.
i love this band but the drummer is so damn dead
You mean his drum parts or his presence physically? Either way, they've got a new drummer now.
Also, in my opinion, Geoff doesn't need to be super animated; I feel like his drum parts make up for what he doesn't do physically. That's just me. It's always cool to have an active drummer
Eh......The music sounds like periphery or tesseract or even skyharbour.
You must not be able to read.
