Thanks! Good question. My overall was $7k, but that was for the pool, deck, labor, etc. Without pulling out paperwork, I’m guessing the deck was $3k or so.
@@carlosdelacruz6280 Steel frame pools can rust as do these older models (non XTR range when using salt) using this type above ground i have only seen 2 problems. 1 a minor puncture repair because of a shitty cat and 2 incorrect installation. Chris S thanks! It’s a fun project and at $7k, if it only were to last for 5-10 years, it was worth it. But we think we can maintain it and make it last for a long time beyond that. So far so good.

So glad I saw this video thank you for posting it. I have the exact same pool. We just bought it about a month ago and am having someone come to build retaining wall on Monday. I have a lot that is sloped a little so hopefully we can make this work. Im trying to figure out how much room I am going to need to account for the pump. How did you run power for the pump? Also is there a way to make it easy to access in order to backwash, drain, clean etc? You did a great job and it looks amazing. Hope mine turns out half as nice.
Thank you very much! We just built the deck bigger on one end and put our pump under the deck and then put a trap door in the deck so we could get down to it. We changed our power last year. We ran power to the pump before and turned it off and on at the pump. Now we run power from a switch on the back of our house so that we can turn the pump on and off from there. Makes it easier and we don’t have to access the pump very often unless we want to clean or backwash.
@@TheTrentTribe Thank you so much for the reply. I have started leveling out the area where it is going to go. I think in another reply you mentioned you made the hole 4' wider on each side? Lol, almost a disaster after a short period of digging we struck into a solid red vane of clay. The only thing that ket us goin was two grandchildren slash project managers. @@TheTrentTribe nice! As you know there are the famous monuments if Paris. But if have interest for example for history you can visit very famous castle like Chateau de Versailles....it depend of what you want and the time you will have. Hope you will see Paris again. I live just beside in the Hauts de Seine.
Eddley.A. We went down to Versailles. Loved going there! We went to tons of museums, all of which were wonderful. The one thing we would have liked to do was visit outside the city, like a beautiful countryside or something. When we come back, we will have to connect with you and have a macaroon.
This is awesome. We have had 3 quotes on an in ground pool all ranging from 37k to 48k. That’s for a liner pool 18’ x 32’. Just can’t stomach that kind of money for a pool but I could swing 7k on this project and own it!. How deep did you dig the hole? What’s the dimensions of the hole? If you remember. Thanks in advance.
morganer10 your quotes are coming in around the same as ours. We did another video that covers more details on how we did the pool. It’s connected to this one. I know we dug the hold 4’ deep. I can’t remember the rest, but I think we put it in the other one. If not, the guy that helped us did blueprints on everything that he sales for like $75.
I like many of your videos. this summer I bought a similar pool, but smaller, and when I filled it with water, it was crooked, how did you manage to put it right?
Thanks for watching our videos! ❤️ We didn’t have any problems, but we began by kicking out the sides from the inside when it was empty and doing it every inch of water until it had a foot or so of water in it. But you could always drain it and fix it I guess. We drain ours in the spring and start with fresh water. We kick the sides out then as well and adjust anything that needs adjusted.
This is exactly what I wanted to do. I was going to build a cement block wall instead of using the treated wood as you did. First, why did you select the wood and second, how did you span the approximately three-foot open span/gap between the wall and the edge of the pool?
Jeffrey Smith we looked at block instead, but it came down to cost and the ability to do it without enlisting more helpers. As far as the gap goes, our friend that helped us took charge of that because he was more experienced in that than us. I’d love to take credit for that one, but I can’t. Lol
What are the dimensions of the ground cover and so the side supports for the pool extend beyond that? How far off of the ground cover did you place your deck posts?
chris mcmahon Not sure exactly what you mean, but the canvas ground cover that’s underneath the pool was what came with it. Not sure what the dimensions of that is, but it’s bigger than the pool. The side wall supports attach to the top of the pool and then extend down further away from the pool about a foot or so. The deck post are 4 ft away from the wall of the pool on each side of the pool. Hope that answers your question.
Hi I really like what you did with the unground version of the pool. A couple of questions: 1. How much wider did you dig your hole compared to the pool? I don't want to make it to narrow and not have room for a retaining wall. 2. Did you have any trouble, after rains storms or with active mice, etc, with space between wall and pool? 3. How was maintenance on deck with water and people using it? Thanks Steve
Steven McNichols hey! Thanks for the comment. We went 4’ wider on each side of the pool and that worked well. I guess you could go more if you wanted to spend more money on the lumber, but we were trying to get by as inexpensive as possible. But it works well the way we did it. As far as rain storms go, our soil drains well, but we did install an automatic pump just in case. So far so good. Only thing we’ve seen in the cavity around the pool have been a few frogs. Lol We came back two months after building and applied a water seal to help with the wood. So far that’s worked well. It’s almost been a year for us and we couldn’t be happier with what we did. $7k compared to $40k and more for more permanent options.
Excellent job!! I would like to do something similar. I have a doubt, the rainwater that is trapped between the pool and the boards how do they make it disappear?. Thanks
Thank you! When this is drained, the walls cave inward. So when it’s time for a new one, we will drain it, disassemble it and take it out. Then put the new one in its spot. We hope to get 7-10 years out of this one, because the last Intex we had above the ground lasted for a good while. Hopefully pools come back down by then. Lol
Machil Verweij we have considered a heater, but haven’t decided yet. If we did it would just be to keep it open for the winter. We like the idea of doing that though.
2 questions please. Does this count in your property tax calculation like a traditional in ground pool? Do you have a pump system to keep the hole from filling with water when it rains?
@@TheTrentTribe if you have a chance, could you please let me know what the actual footprint of your pool is. or at least how far the legs stick out. Thank you!
Just done this myself in the UK this summer! (16ftx8ft pool) Watched your video and we done it very similar except I did a 14inch concrete base at the bottom of the hole! I lined the wood with a metal cladding the side retaining the soil! How has your wood retained the dirt so far to date? Thanks!
2kslew 99 that’s awesome! Ours is holding up great. No issues at all as of now. Hope you’re enjoying yours. How long is your swimming season in the U.K.?
Trent Tribe we get around 3-4months a year at the moment, but the summers here are getting hotter which is why I did it! Finishing the decking off now and pinching your idea of how you did yours! Did you take your pool down for your winter or do you leave it up? (Are your winters cold) thanks for the reply 👍👍
Trent Tribe ok thanks for all your help, I think I will do similar and drain mine before winter comes, cover the whole thing in sheets and seal the decking over! Much easier than dissembling it under the decking/pool frame! Il try get a video of mine and post it to show! Love how we’ve had the same idea!!
2kslew 99 we haven’t mastered that, but our rails for our steps will detach from the bottom part, so we removed them and then covered the pool. It worked ok, but we are currently figuring out a better way for this year.
Hello! I would like to know if its length and its width are all with the steel frames or only the pool is 7.32m x3.66m x132cm and the size is bigger by adding the support frames
Christine Fredrickson the last intex we had lasted 8-9 years and actually was still in pretty good shape. Even if we had to change the liner out every five years, it still is a good deal in our opinion. $7k total for this and $1k every five years for a new liner. Eventually our kids will leave the house and we probably won’t use it often. Crazy to spend $40-50k on something that probably won’t be used in ten years. Maybe not for everyone, but definitely for us. Thanks for the comment!
Hello! Looks great! What about the conditions of the pool after two summers? Are there any holes or other troubles? Would be great to get an anwer from you. Many thanks for inspiration and regards from Germany. Andreas
Andreas Scheiter Hi! Thanks for the comment all the way from Germany. The pool is doing great. We are enjoying it and absolutely have no regrets. The deck is holding up well. The pool is in great shape. The only thing we did after we installed it was put a pump in for any extra water around the sides of the pool. It works great.
This is awesome! I have some questions regarding the prices though.. how much does the dump truck and excavator cost to rent and how many days did you rent it for? Also what did the total price come to? Thanks
othmane kerroum thank you. Our total cost was $7k for everything. Our friend has an excavator, but we still paid him, but he also helped plan the deck out and build it. So we paid him the standard rate for his service, which ended up being about $1000 or just under. The haul Bill was around $600-700, which came out to about $100 a load or so. That’s the best I can remember, but that’s in the ballpark. Our quotes for a concrete in ground were coming in around $40k.
Wow.. it seems as if inground pools are all a scam😅. I think we will definitely look into this. And a few more questions. Do you have any experience with things like this or are you a complete amateur? Also, can you push off the walls of the pool? Or is it not solid.. Thanks
othmane kerroum we are complete amateurs. Lol We thought it would be fun, even if it only lasted five years, we were willing to take the chance. Glad we did. Second season and it’s great. The walls are just like if it were above ground. We kick off of them all the time.
Could you tell the actual Outer dimensions of your retaining wall? I want to make sure I don’t short the wall. I’m putting the pool in after the holes are drilled .
Krazy K Ranch don’t remember right off. We have another video that’s attached to this one that may have it in there. If it doesn’t, the guy that helped us kept up with that and created some blueprints you can purchase from him.
Can you replace that pool with a new one in some years or do you have to remove the wooden walls then and dig the hole bigger to have enough space for construction work?
Should be able to replace it. The walls fall inward when the water isn’t in it. So drain it, take the old one out and put the new one in and fill it up. It will take a few helpers, but it should be fairly simpleZ
Excellent idea, what was the cost of all the wood for project? I live In Florida and plan to do same thing with a smaller intex pool.
Thanks! Good question. My overall was $7k, but that was for the pool, deck, labor, etc. Without pulling out paperwork, I’m guessing the deck was $3k or so.
RedNitro Hacks yes, for the non-salt water version model 26373. Double that for the salt water version model 26377.

I think I was only planning on 2' extra each side do you think that will work? I'm getting ready to order up the material for the walls now. Do you think you could get me the info for the gentlemen that sells the blueprints for this set up it sure would be nice to have some point of reference. Right now I am just winging it lol. I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
@@robkennedy821 sure. His name is David. Text before you call or otherwise he probably won’t answer because of the number. His number is 1 (803) 942-8191
Thanks Randy.
Nice video !!!! Can you imagine after installing everything come to find out there’s a hole then you need to take it down and return it....
Lol. That would have been horrible. 😂 Thankfully it was ok.
Look great! I'm planning on doing the same thing. The only question is how did you deal with the drainage?
Eran Rousseau thank you. We installed an automatic pump just in case. So far so good. Hope your project turns out great!
@@TheTrentTribe it came out really nice! Thanks
Looks amazing! I'm wondering how you access the pool mechanicals since you placed them underneath the decking? Thanks for sharing! 💯
Thank you! We have a trap door in the deck.
What is the actual footprint of the pool with the legs angled out? We are pouring a concrete pad and I want to make sure it's big enough
My stepson and i did the same thing with a coleman 18ft round pool. But we only dug it in about 30 of the 48 inches of the height. As it was a brsinstorm of an ideal and we dug it with shovels. Lol, almost a disaster after a short period of digging we struck into a solid red vane of clay. The only thing that ket us goin was two grandchildren slash project managers. After it was done, it was well worth the effort
Frank Weatherford wow! I’m laughing, but crying at the same time. That was a tremendous amount of work for you guys. Major applause for your hard work!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Do you have a picture? We're thinking of installing only some of the pool we'll be getting, but not sure what it will look like. Not many pics online of this kind of thing. Would love to see yours!
Very nice pool. Hello from France
Eddley.A. Thank you! We were in Paris a year and a half ago. Loved it! Can’t wait to come back. Any suggestions on places to see when we come back?
@@TheTrentTribe nice! As you know there are the famous monuments if Paris. But if have interest for example for history you can visit very famous castle like Chateau de Versailles....it depend of what you want and the time you will have. Hope you will see Paris again. I live just beside in the Hauts de Seine.
Eddley.A. We went down to Versailles. Loved going there! We went to tons of museums, all of which were wonderful. The one thing we would have liked to do was visit outside the city, like a beautiful countryside or something. When we come back, we will have to connect with you and have a macaroon.
@@TheTrentTribe no problem If i can help.
We didn’t have any problems, but we began by kicking out the sides from the inside when it was empty and doing it every inch of water until it had a foot or so of water in it.
Lol
So how did your friend span the gap?
I too have to buuld thay same style retaing wall. Did you backfill with stone or just fill in with dirt?
What are the dimensions of the ground cover and so the side supports for the pool extend beyond that? How far off of the ground cover did you place your deck posts?
chris mcmahon Not sure exactly what you mean, but the canvas ground cover that’s underneath the pool was what came with it. Not sure what the dimensions of that is, but it’s bigger than the pool. The side wall supports attach to the top of the pool and then extend down further away from the pool about a foot or so. The deck post are 4 ft away from the wall of the pool on each side of the pool. Hope that answers your question.
Thx, we also worried about the curvy side walls, now we stopped worried!
Hi
I really like what you did with the unground version of the pool. A couple of questions:
1. How much wider did you dig your hole compared to the pool? I don't want to make it to narrow and not have room for a retaining wall.
2. Did you have any trouble, after rains storms or with active mice, etc, with space between wall and pool?
3. How was maintenance on deck with water and people using it?
Thanks
Steve
Steven McNichols hey! Thanks for the comment. We went 4’ wider on each side of the pool and that worked well. I guess you could go more if you wanted to spend more money on the lumber, but we were trying to get by as inexpensive as possible. But it works well the way we did it.
As far as rain storms go, our soil drains well, but we did install an automatic pump just in case. So far so good. Only thing we’ve seen in the cavity around the pool have been a few frogs. Lol
We came back two months after building and applied a water seal to help with the wood. So far that’s worked well. It’s almost been a year for us and we couldn’t be happier with what we did. $7k compared to $40k and more for more permanent options.
Hey nice job. What do you do in winter ? Take the water out and cover up ?
Excellent job!! I would like to do something similar. I have a doubt, the rainwater that is trapped between the pool and the boards how do they make it disappear?. Thanks
Thank you. Our soil drains well, but we still installed an automatic pump just in case. So far so good for us.
You just gave me a great idea! Haha
Gavin F lol. Great!
You sir are a stud
What will happen in the future when you replace this pool for a new one? How you will install it?
Anyways, you did a great job!
Lol
what you gunna do when someone punches a hole after the install?
Did you consider isolation the outer wall of the pool and/or use a poolheater?
Machil Verweij we have considered a heater, but haven’t decided yet. If we did it would just be to keep it open for the winter. We like the idea of doing that though.
Did you just fill the space between the pool and the wooden wall with dirt? does it not damage the side of the pool?
amazing!!!!!!
Thank you!
That is sooooo cool
Thank you!
How do you keep the space around the pool from filling up with water?
Amazing... It is wow.... Like is goddddd
Awesome video! Great work! We’re you able to get a lot of the wrinkles out?
Jason Getchell thank you! We were able to. Just put a few inches of water in and begin kicking out the edges and keep doing that until they’re gone.

2 questions please. Does this count in your property tax calculation like a traditional in ground pool? Do you have a pump system to keep the hole from filling with water when it rains?
raceboy1971 yes and yes. We went back and installed a sump pump just in case the water table got high enough. So far so good.
@@TheTrentTribe thanks for the quick response!
raceboy1971 you’re welcome! Thanks for the comment.
Great video. I am putting mine up on a level concrete pad, is there any reason why I would still need the concrete blocks?
ed earickson that’s a good idea. I don’t imagine you would if you pad is wide enough so your pool legs rest on it. Enjoy your project!
@@TheTrentTribe if you have a chance, could you please let me know what the actual footprint of your pool is. or at least how far the legs stick out.
Thank you!
ed earickson I’m not 100% sure. Those legs probably stick out about 2ft from the pool. So if you add 2ft to each side you would probably be close.
@@TheTrentTribe I appreciate the response, thanks
Che legno hai usato ? Con la terra la pioggia non si rovina il legno laterale?
Great job.like it
Just done this myself in the UK this summer!
2kslew 99 our winters aren’t too cold. We left it up, but covered it. In March we drained it, cleaned it and filled it back up.
I’m curious, how long should this pool last? Will you plan to replace liner every few years?
@@TheTrentTribe Many thanx, and all the best!
Have you had any issues with water accumulating? I’m working on doing this, should I have a sump pump?
Lol
We thought it would be fun, even if it only lasted five years, we were willing to take the chance.
Excellent 😄😄😄👍👍👍👍
DS Tecnica thank you!
