My old teacher once told me that he played the saxophone to make money and meet women.
There is a seductive quality about the saxophone. The sound is like that of a human being. It grabs anyone’s attention. I’m sure brass instruments, strings (guitars, violins, violas, cellos, double bass), or even clarinet, flute or piccolo can do the same as long as someone is listening.
The Billy Joel song Christy Lee(from the An Innocent Man album) tells the story of an alto saxophonist who played one night and met with a beautiful woman who loved his performance. Check it out.
I haven’t gotten laid while I played, but I did get compliments. But I wasn’t playing in night clubs or even in a band for hire( I and a coworker were given business cards from a band who played at a wedding reception we were working). I hope to get back into playing again.
