I defenitely overestimated the value of tags. I'll still be adding them, but being more realistic of their possible results will certainly help in dealing with expectations and maybe disappointments. Thanks for the vid!
Adding tags actually has a higher chance of your video to blow up. I've actually used tags and my video got 200 views in under 2 hours. But remember, you also need to make a good thumbnail. Make it convincing, so that the viewer can be interested. Those are my perspectives on how I used tags and thumbnails. I hope this helps everyone from my perspective.

There are suggested, search and browse features. And if a video gets 200 views per hour from all 3 almost equally is that a win - win? Or should there be a focus on one lane?
1) Don't understand this question 2) Really depends on the channel. For most it's combination of browse and suggested traffic. For other channels it's search. Getting traffic from all sources is great.

Sometimes though you see a message beside the CTR rating that says that "This video is shown to a broader audience and therefore the CTR is lower than usual. It doesn't affect your views though" OK cool but when my CTR is lower in such cases than I can't judge if the thumbnail is doing well or not. For instance I often get 10% or more. So if that is case I think it is doing well. But when youtube shows the video to a wider audience it goes down to 2,3 or 4%. This happens very infrequently so I can never truly judge if it is doing well or not in such cases.
I've been using tags for quite some time, I love the autofill feature of them, it saves me a lot of typing. I also enjoy watching the tags raise my SEO score (I've become a stickler for trying to get 5/5 perfect scores). Whilst I do get a lot of high scoring tags, I only get one or 2 high ranking tags (with the # next to them). Good video, and great information as always Rob. Cheers 🍺

Here is my question: I have noticed many of my videos have high cpm but very low RPM and I wanna know the reason why? For instance, some videos have cpm = 34, but rpm of 0.79!! It's really not worth doing any advice about tags these days. That's why this video is so short. We've done videos about hashtags in the past. Search on YT, you'll find them :)

I don't know for sure, but based on other aspects of VidIQ, it is *very* likely to be a rating for how often a term is searched on youtube, to help you decide what tags to put. Don't quote me on that though 😅
I think tags are still useful if you use them correctly. My thought process when adding tags is to give the youtube algorithm as much info in tags as possible to help show my video to the right audience.

I always like to max out my tags! Every little bit helps, and it's a great way to think like your viewer in terms of what they're searching for!

Yeah, that sounds wrong. You can have spaces, a comma (or enter) denotes a new 'tag'.
