I usually fish the salmon river but I’m thinking about mixing it up and hitting Oswego, orchard, or niagra next year. Looks like you had good day of catching Beautiful fish dude. keep up the good work...I just subbed and I’d appreciate it if you get me back when you get a chance. Tight lines
Handberrydea thanks man no doubt I subbed you back. It's fun up in Oswego I filmed only a little for this video I had a amazing day wish I got the couple steelheads and one big rainbow I got check the place out if you ever get a chance.
Wow those guys are taking the eggs, I was out at salmon river yesterday and they only took drift flies and it wasn't too great. What is the name of your spot
New to your channel. Love fishing Upstate NY as well. Love salmon fishing and steelhead and brown trout fishing. Hope we can support each other. Thanks Adrian
True North Angler thank you yes I love it all very much so to. I’m trying to get my channel to grow it’s just with my job it’s hard to film for RUclips and fish for fun I get plenty of time to fish just trying to balance it all. No doubt that would great the support of each other can do nothing but good for both of us. Hit me up anytime. Jon.
716army it's actually a mooching reel set up. 9ft 9 weight uglystick fly rod/shimano 2000GT moocher plus reel/Berkley armor coat 17lbs test line. This set up is like having the rod of the gods lol once your hooked up your landing it no doubt. When the fish start getting line shy mod your leader to a lighter line.
@nd year I went to the Salmon River near Pulasi I rented a boat off Route 3 Port Ontario (since closed) and was fidhing #5 Mepps spinners and saw this one salmon jumping in the same are. back then snagging was legal. All the boat were parked at this hole and I moved away from them and was casting where the salmon was jumping. Took me about 20 minutes but I hooked it. It was a 16 lb. trophy coho. All the locals were wrong saying salmon wouldn't hit a lure. I hooked it right in the jaw and it was getting it unhooked. A few years later hooked a bright female with a rebel lure swimming upstream, Port Ontario near the Route 3 bridge. Some salmon will hit lures when they are in the river. I proved it.
CSCHMITTY 75 thanks much appreciated. Believe it or not most of them are not bad and are true sportsman but like anything there's always the ones that are not the exact opposite lol.
@@ilovehuntingandfishing145 not at all I'm one of the few locals that share info lol. That day I was running a pink streamer fly with a 1/4 oz split shot ruffley 20 inches from my fly on 12lb P-line fluorocarbon leader to 15lb maxima mono as my main line. The Flys are easy to make in shops there about 1 to 2 dollars a piece. My rod i used that day is a 9ft 10wt uglystick big game fly rod with a Shimano gt 2000 moocher plus reel. Keep in mind this rod set up is nice due to basically being thors hammer of salmon rod set ups in your hand but it is not a light set up it can get heavy as the day passes. But if you wanna take a break from using a regular fly rod or spinning rod or whatever you use primarily and land fish with alot more ease this is for you. Most shops sell these combos for about 150-180 depending on where you go but most have a diawa moocher on them. You will pay more if it has the Shimano due to it being better quility. But apart the rods are about 70 80 bucks and the reels are 100 to 150 depending on the reel.
Fishing the Oswego is second to none in terms of opportunity at big fish... such is the case with selfish assholes who wholeheartedly refuse to get out of the way and then laugh when you lose your fish. What time of year did you go bud? I went late October and all my salmon had turned ivory (White fleshed)
Sorry for the very late response this was in September of that year. Typically the fish stage for a wile and pods start coming in between labor day weekend and mid September.

Jon.
hey just out of curiosity, what kind of line are you using and what pound test is it??
w b berkley armor coat 17 pound test. It's a abrasion proof line perfect for rocky areas.
Salmon are coming up I got two today but I think only about 200 are in there
Great video bro .
Not a much of a challenge doing like that for me personally. but it's always nice to see people having a good time
You would be surprised how many people struggle. The challenge isn't hooking up its landing it battling the idiots around you.
I love how the guys next to you didnt even attempt to get out of the way. The one guy pretty much walked on top of your line and fish at one point.
wabash yea unfortunately salmon season brings out the idiots.

Varick dam Oswego New York. Parking is on rt 48 across from the oz bait and tackle.
@@basskickersoutdoors5594 Awesome!!! Thanks a lot! I'll share with you some videos (if I get something)))
Not only a snagger but a spoon feeder spot burner.
@@boblove6865 typical response from somebody who probably couldn't catch crabs from a 10 dollar hooker.🤣
The salmon are there now but not a lot but about 200 of them
Nice work! Be nice if those tourists would move

That guy next to you with the beard would be floating downstream if i was in your place
williecosgrove yea tell me about it but I'm not going to jail over a fish lol.
What were you using for bait?
It is a fly i personally made but you can find these type in almost any flyshop they are called streamers.
@@basskickersoutdoors5594 thanks man
@@basskickersoutdoors5594 can you tell me your rig set too?

pudgy boy to you're left won't move a inch when you have a fish on
