What an outstanding artistic personality, what a lucky discovery! At least, it wouldn't be the first time that of all people a contestant, who didn't make the cut, cut their own path. Doubtlessly, Smirnov’s unheard-of interpretations won’t go unheard.
For all those luminous beeings who are looking for transcendence in classical music here are 2 wonderful Albums by Dima released on firsthandrecords : YSAŸE - 6 Violin Sonatas op. 27 + works & arrangements of contemporaries - to be released in fall 2024 - FHR124 Bartok - Bach - Schneeberger - Solo Sonatas - FHR117 - with infinite gratitude to Dima for his enlightening artistry and wonderful human qualities - keep it up * we love you - if*

"And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaias, who saith: By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive.“ (Matthew 13:14) - Verbum sapienti sat.
After listening to his first round and I saw that he's playing Bartok in the second, I could already tell that it'd suit his style perfectly. This reminds me of Gitlis and Kopachinskaya, without some of their eccentricities. It's such a pity that he practically threw away his spot to the third round with a crazy Mozart performance.
