Compared to the c6z06. This Z is a little more raw. Fun to toss around. And the 405hp is plenty for track. Just run 100-200 tread wear tires and better brakes.
One of my friends has one, he doesn't take it out all that much. Me, being the good friend that I am, I always volunteer to take it out as it's not good to let cars sit in one place for long periods of time. Anyway, I agree. I always thought it felt way faster than 405 hp, it's fun I'll tell you that...
Let me play devils advocate here; although I would normally agree with your comment, when it comes to achieving the fastest 0-60mph time and the fastest 1/4 mile time and at the highest speed that’s technically possible with the tested vehicles specs and the vehicles physical motion dynamics. Finally even more important is the pilot’s skills….AKA the persons skill ability to man handle such a fast mechanical motion machine-particularly the skills required to be able to read and feel the vehicles different components as they work together in total harmony….the driver must also be aware of all the vehicles capabilities and must be super proficient in all of them, in order to take full advantage of everything the vehicle has to offer. So with that said….over time the manual transmission got better and better and today they are as good as they will probably ever get, at the same time the auto transmission was also getting better and better and today there no manual or driver that can beat a modern automatic transmission…..so for auto manufacturers that want to achieve the best times or beat the record, in order for them to get the very important “new record bragging rights” an automatic transmission is a must for that to happen, or for you to even be competitive.
@@TheRealDarthVadar ummm interesting….1992 you say huh? L98 you say? 1992? R u sure? I’m pretty sure all corvettes for 1992 received the new LT1 5.7 350 V8…..unless I got too many holes in my SpongeBob brain….
@@TheRealDarthVadar thank you…thank you very much! On a separate note the L98 from what i read and heard isn’t too bad or underpowered, as matter of fact it’s quite a good capable engine that finally got the C4 some decent numbers for the time period….especially the torque, apparently the L98 is known as a torque monster!
@SubieandFriends 350 torque wasn't shabby for 1985 when I believe that engine was introduced 245 bhp 350 torque I'd consider that a torque monster for it's era
@@TheRealDarthVadar actually I don’t mean to sound like Mr smarty pants here but the L98 came out a few more years later, either 87 or 89, I know for sure the 1984-1986* C4 had the old cross fire 5.7 V8 which was introduced in the previous generation C3 corvette for its last two model years I believe 81 & 82(I don’t think there was a corvette made for 1983) So when the C4 was released for 1984 it was equipped with the same cross fire 5.7 V8 which only made around 205HP & I think about 290lbs torque…that’s why when the L98 came out a few years later it was considered such a nice big upgrade and what made it even better was when it got the new 6 speed manual transmission that came out for 1989(I think it was 1989) which was much better then the 4 + 3 manual that it replaced. The 4 speed autos were always good transmissions.
The C5 Z06 is simply a legend.
Fun fact: the 2002 ZO6 405hp output was the same as the older C4 ZR1, which also made 405hp and both were 5.7ltrs
The Z06 was lighter though, that's why it kicked the kings ass.
@@choward874 hey man, that ZO6 better pay its respects to the one and only King of the Hill old G! The ZR1! Mmmmm okay!!!

I think the 405HP rating was a bit under rated!

C9 Z06: cvt only.
