  • I’m back with the third installment of my backpacking gear review series and this time we are going over all things food related. My backcountry kitchen has been dialed in over the years and I’m excited to share all of the things I’ve picked up over countless meals in the backcountry. This backpacking gear review on my backcountry kitchen also includes some tips for bear safety and food storage along with my preferred water filtration device.
As always, all my backpacking gear and a written out review can be found on my website here:

Thanks for sharing. In the cooking pot scene you had plastic bags over your feet. I’ve heard about this but have never seen in action. Walking through snow? That might be a good Tips/Tricks video.

that was my friend Leslie (she planned better than I did haha) but yes! I have done it before and it's a great easy way to keep your feet dry in early season. Appreciate the idea! I'll add it to the list!

Sorry… I accidentally asked a question on IG about this. Are you not a coffee drinker? I haven’t seen any mention of it in any of your videos. Forgive me if I asked the question in a incorrect platform.

No worries at all! I never mind getting questions. I do drink coffee! I like to drink it cold a lot actually. I'll usually put an instant coffee packet (I like the trader joe's ones) and maybe a breakfast essentials in my water bottle and have that during my first mile or so of hiking. When Josh (my fiance) is with me, he'll sometimes make me coffee in the morning because I struggle to wake up early enough to make hot coffee haha.

@@eliseott Josh is a wise man! Men need to care for their ladies this way. I’m a BIG coffee drinker, but haven’t seen too many videos here from thru hikers about this important life need…. I’m an early riser too, so I am on coffee detail. It’s easy on day hikes or even a few overnights but haven’t figured it out for hikes longer than a week. I guess instant it is.
