    It's pronounced Vahken - I used to work Artist Liason for the UK's Bloodstock Festival which is like Wacken's little sister - at the indoor event in 2005 I was in the green room with Vince and Thomas (owners of Bloodstock and Wacken at the time respectively) and asked Thomas the pronunciation as kept hearing it said different ways, to which he replied (and this is verbatim) "Vahken! It's Vahken! It's in f*cking Germany!" I will take his word for it (and it is also the name of the town it is near) 🤣😂🤘

      @@Lewis_Emblack Maybe it has something to do with different dialects (Germany is a big country), but every German guy/girl that I know pronounces it like this: forvo.com/word/wacken/#de
      I'm not sure why you would pronounce a W like a V in German in general. Take for example the song Ich Will from Rammstein: ruclips.net/video/EOnSh3QlpbQ/видео.html
      I have never heard any German person (whether that was in real life or on television) pronounce a W like a V. Take the other example that I mentioned somewhere else, Volkswagen, that is NOT pronounced Volksvagen... Or just maybe the town name of Wacken is just that one exception to the rule...

    • @niallicius
      @niallicius 5 лет назад +2

      @@altx1978 most likely hypercorrection once they've learned English/another language, since German has no "W" sound. Every single German person I know/every instance I've ever heard/when I was taught German the written W is pronounced as V (and written Vs are pronounced as F), just like in your examples of Ich Will, or Wacken. but depending on dialects etc the only thing I've noticed that really changes is whether or not it's a hard or soft V.

    Alissa was a guest vocalist for the band "Kamelot" in Sept-Oct 2012 when they were the supporting act for Nightwish's North American tour on the fateful day that Nightwish's then lead singer Anette Olzon was taken to the hospital with the flu. Instead of cancelling the show Alissa & fellow guest vocalist Elize Ryd ("Ameranthe"), stepped in and saved the day! This however led to a break with Anette with Floor replacing her on tour. The rest is history.

    Love Alissa White-Gluz both with The Agonist & Arch Enemy. In 2012 she also sang for Nightwish together with Elize Ryd (Amaranthe) in Denver because their vocalist at that time, Anette Olzon, got sick just hours before their show was scheduled to start. Fortunately, the opening act "Kamelot" had both Alissa and Elize with them, so they were able to help Nightwish do the show. Metalheads in Denver still remember that show and the genuine love that Nightwish has towards their fans.
    P.S. After this melodeath piece from the Swedish band "Arch Enemy", you might finally consider reacting to this female fronted melodeath band from France formed in 2017: AEPHANEMER - Bloodline (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) ruclips.net/video/OaeT1RU5ViQ/видео.html They sing in English and the video has the lyrics as closed captions (CC), so you can see them on the screen if you turn on closed captions (CC).

    I saw them live, with Alissa, and they were badass. I like both Alissa and Angela equally. Angela is now their manager and she was the one that chose Alissa to replace her. Also, theres no such thing as clean vocals when it comes to Arch Enemy(theres maybe like 2 songs), but Alissa can sing. You just have to check her out with her older band, The Agonist. They also have a new singer, Vicky, who also does screaming and clean vocals. Shes good but not as good as Alissa.
