I've been watching quite a few reaction videos about this song. Quite a few people, are left gobsmacked when they see Alissa start singing. But their faces left me pissing myself laughing. 😂😂

Arch Enemy's main act is the guitars. The guitar players are world class. They don't try to write technical stuff but memorable stuff.

What's off the charts about this is:
1. Alissa is shockingly beautiful...total contrast to the harsh voice. Many people can't get over just that.
2. The all harsh vocals are pretty varied, there's expression within them, because she's so good at them.
3. Enunciation is perfect. You understand EVERY word on first listen.

Arch enemy is 99.9% heavy vocals. The vocalist needs to be extremely healthy and strong because he/she has to do that for 90min 200 times a year live. There is no clean singing "resting" like with many others. Mad respect! Since joining Arch Enemy miss White-Gluz has developed some really demonic vocals. She gets a lot of practice. Alissa is one of my favorite female singers you should go back and check out her early work with the band The Agonist she can sing really Really well if you wanna see listen to the song Thank You Pain by The Agonist you'll Hear her scream and sing :)

Arch Enemy is from that same small Swedish town as me and Roxette. ALISSA is Canadian and its actually her growling.

Alissa White-Gluz is the greatest performer in music today. Nobody comes close. Check out her " Handshake With Hell " - she's sings in a more conventional voice in about half of it.

Alright quick breakdown....Johann Liiva was the original singer for this hand....for 3 albums. Then, they brought in Angela Gossow. She was around for about 5 albums or so (sorry...I stopped listening at "Wages of Sin" but know she was still around for many more albums). I want to say this female singer is the replacement from "The Agonist" but I'm probably wrong. This being said.....Arch Enemy has been around since the later 90's after the breakup of "At the Gates" and features the "Amott" brothers (Christopher and Michael). As well as Sharlee Deangelo on bass. One of those brothers married the aforementioned lead singer Angela Gossow. Now....all I can say of this band....they have a guitarist named Jeff Loomis who was originally in a band named "Nevermore." He is STOOPID talented on the guitar. In fact....Megadeth (back around the early 90's) were auditioning guitarists and Loomis auditioned. Megadeth (really Dave Mustaine) said that he was "too talented" and should audition for a band called "Sanctuary" which Mustaine was the producer of. That band ("Sanctuary") became "Nevermore." So it all goes "full circle," if you will. Check out Nevermore. They are my favorite band of all time! Notable listens would be (for beginners) "The River Dragon" or "Enemies of Reality."

I just saw Chris Broderick on guitar on the Tornado of Souls video. I recommended Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor live version because he is on that. Then I came to watch this video and lo and behold there is Jeff Loomis (blonde guitarist) who was the main guitarist for Nevermore and is also in the video I recommended. :)

She used to be in another band called The Agonist. That band is also worth checking out. Whether it be with Alissa or with their new frontwoman Vicky Psarakis. Both women are AMAZING. Vicky has even done vocal covers of Epica, Nightwish and a few others. PLEASE check her out. It is absurd how underappreciated she is.
I support this, specially about Vicky Psarackys, her covers are mindblowing and baddasses
I like this singer, Alissa, but if you wanna know what real power looks like you should see her predecessor, the legendary Angela Gossow. Try their song Nemesis, live in Tokyo, for example. And you can see more incredibly good growling ladies in Jinjer, Nervosa, Crypta, Hateful Murder and so on.
Check out the older stuff with Angela Gossow as the vocalist.

You need to see more of Alissa. Here's a video of her on stage with Tarja Turunen. Tarja is classical trained, but has been singing metal since 1996. The song features Alissa singing both clean and growls, with Tarja treating us to her classical sound, all in a metal wrapper.

You guys should definitely check out Straight Line Stitch - “Black Veil” if you want to see a black woman with phenomenal harsh vocals. Alexis Brown was one of the first female vocalists I enjoyed that switched from cleans to harsh vocals. And she has an impeccable windmill.
Believe it or not, she doesn't just growl, she can sing "normally" too. In fact she is one of the singers (alongside Elize Ryd from Kamelot) who stepped in to front Nightwish on that memorable show in Denver when their previous singer Anette became ill and was taken to the hospital just hours before a sold out show. There is a documentary that shows parts of that concert and while she and Elize are clearly not in the league of Floor Jansen (who was invited to the band just days after the event since after Denver Anette did just one more show with Nightwish in Salt Lake City, after that they parted ways), they did a remarkably good job, especially having had just about an hour to prepare for the show.
AE Are the Top of the Mountain in This genre. #legendary
