Still have mine from 2009. It’s on its 3rd battery and works fine. I never listen to music on my iPhone because I hate the interruptions from texts and calls. Dedicated music players are the best. I still buy CD’s and rip them to mp3 before loading them onto the iPod. It’s a bit old fashioned but at least I OWN the music instead of leasing it from a streaming service.

My Zune had the same buttons except for the scrolling but that’s because the screen was touch screen. And the screen was way bigger than the iPod. I know everyone has their preferences but I feel like the iPod classic is extremely overrated
Finally got one! Got a 5.5, but the headphone jack didn’t work due to a logic board issue, and I returned it. Now I have a 7th gen 80GB coming in from eBay for $100! Really excited to try it out finally
Mastergeko4 you’re right... from simply shooting this video I somehow managed to give the metallic back two scratches, although minor still annoying. I’ve since been covering it with a sleeve when not in use.
@@Ichijoe2112 that stainless steel back are meant to be scratched on way or another, some stainless steel polish might help if the scratches get worse.
@@fchho Yes it's been a hot tip since day one (way back in the dark ages before teh coof), you just have to be careful where you use such a polish, as it can, and will also remove the Apple logo, (less likely), or the Serial info at the bottom. (more likely), I actually had a 3erd Gen iPod that wore away part of that info away all on it's own. But, that one was in a rubber case back then, sadly it (The Rubberized Case), degraded like most other 'rubberised' products do. So it was most likely the chemicals from that that lifted off that info.
I love these! I do have Spotify and while it is very convenient, the music is sometimes limited to specific regions and they can decide to pull music any day. My phone has plenty of storage, but I don't really want to drain the battery too much. So that's the reason I got my first iPod (5th gen 60 GB) a couple of months ago and I'll be getting a 6th gen 80 GB tomorrow, I'm really excited. Surprisingly, iPods also work well for syncing under Linux (while iTunes isn't available for this operating system, applications like Rhythmbox are perfectly able to sync with these). I might eventually replace the hard drive with an iFlash SD adapter.

Besides I don’t have to worry about commercials or lag (network related) interrupting my playlists. & with the Flash SD I’m sure the music will change over to the following song with little to no lag. bryanvaldovinos Exactly! Plus they just look so cool and iconic, even today (except for the back, which scratches if you look at it the wrong way lol). Update on the 6th gen iPod: it had a part of the headphone jack stuck inside (as advertised), which I’ve been able to remove using a Bic pen. I really like the build, feel and user interface on it. The Cover Flow feature is cool, if not a bit laggy. Still, I do also like the no frills interface and the chunkier housing on the 5th gen. Some say there’s a difference between the two in sound quality, but I can’t hear it for the life of me.
@@atanu_dhar I got it from an eBay/Craigslist like website specific to my country. Note that mine doesn't have the box and isn't in as good of a condition as the one in this video, but it works. I'd also recommend you to look for them in your local thrift shops if you have them, you may get lucky.
I recently got the nano 7 and it is amazing!! I got some CDs of music I like and ripped them and added the files to my iPod and the quality is a amazing, and I love that I save battery on my phone and I have no interruptions while listening to music

I think you over paid for it. I was able to get a late '09 160GB for 85€. Then again it was local to me. And, that's probably the best advice use something like Craigslist, or eBay Small Ads if you don't care to pay inflated Fleabay charges. *Sorry I missed your response. So, as i read it this has the cost reduced materials in it, unlike the earlier 2009 ones, some people on the Apple Forums have even stated that they can not stand that model of the iPod as it just doesnt sound as good as the non cost reduced version.
Great, I have an unboxed 160 GB iPod Classic and my 120 GB iPod Classic, but I can't use them because iTunes no longer supports the iPod Classic, or any of the older iPods, I believe the iPod Touch is the only one that is still supported, but for how much longer. Apples wants people to buy iPhones for there music, but I prefer my music on a separate device. I loved my iPod Classic, but haven't been able to use it for a couple of years now.
iTunes still exists on Windows X. So MYTHBSTED. For Apple users post Catalina 10.15 should use the Finder (File Explorer), to set their iPod up, and use Apple Music inplace of iTunes.
I had the 2005 60GB ipod , it had 4,000 songs on it. I stopped using it when l got my 512GB S10+ Phone, l have 6,000 songs on the phone. I can't wait to buy a 1TB phone in 2 years time to have 12,000 songs on it.

Have a question, my ipod 160GB classic won't fully download music from the iTunes file, I have over a thousand songs but it will download only 450 before it stops. What am I doing wrong?
Sounds like a bad Drive. Keep in mind these have a smaller 1,8" HDDs in them, and well even HDDs die eventually. You might want to place your iPod into Disk Mode Operation. (i.e. Menu + Select (Till Apple Screen), then Select + Play/Pause (To enter Disk Mode),. Then eithe run CHKDISK (Windows), or the Disk Tools on Mac to diagnose it. I suppose it could also be a faulty Cable to blame too for what its worth. Apple Cables seem to all suck from that time. Even the one i got with my late 2009 160GB has a ratted up cable that i plan to replace. Thankfully i have an older Firewire Brick, and Cable that are still both like new so thats taking care of my daily charging uses.
I hear Rockbox does that. Honestly what's the difference between Flac, and Alac? Whatever that difference might be, the iPod just is not capable of 24/96 bit Files. Something for Mr Cook to ponder on. I'm sure he could make a few more doll-hairs with an iPod refresh, 512GB Flash Storage, USB 4.0, and, Alac / Flac @ 24/96 high res.

Good video. Hate to tell you man . That is not a "sealed" ipod classic. I used to work for bestbuy around that time. Opened many maybe 100s for customers to set up and use. Never in my life have I ever seen that accessory "bag" in the box . Apple has also never done that . Apple has always had the same experience unboxing and that's not how it was. Also there's no phone protective thing in the original boxes. You should return the item and get your money back cause that's totally a repackaged ipod that's sealed to look brand new

You lay the thing down for a second, and pick it back up again it's got a new scratch hoestly you may as well try to fight entopy by taking all the milk particles out of your coffee. Unlike babing an iPod to keep it's back pristine. You might actually have a prayer at that.

I miss that scroll wheel sound so much. I never owned a classic, but I had the 2nd gen nano for years. That sound is music to my ears.

You might have been dealing with strictly the 80GB & 160GB models which were far more popular than their 120GB counterparts.
