The weird thing is, if they shelled out for a good quality face plate (in my experience the difference between a good one and a crap one is about $3 retail) and sold them as "refurbished" they could sell them for about the same price, be totally legit and probably make more profit for not having to print and assemble a shitty box.

The one on the resold 30 GB there has the smaller plug that came later. Which confirms the fact that it is a later packaging. And obviously the lack of the og headphones.
Fun fact, Apple has (or had when I used to work for an authorised reseller/service provider) an internal support document designed to help you explain to customers that they’ve actually bought a fake iPod not a real one. Apparently enough people were fooled by these scams and then brought the devices in for service and couldn’t understand why Apple wouldn’t help them.

Yes! But honestly there’s something so cool to me about watching movies/playing games on an insanely tiny and crappy screen. My phone screen is small, but it’s still over 6” and is a very high quality OLED display. It’s great for watching movies, but for some reason I still want to try watching something on the shitty screen of a video iPod
As someone who used to do ecommerce work for a company out of Kowloon selling iPhones, they buy B-C grade second hand products, fix them with third party parts that cost practically nothing, and then re-wrap them in a kind of passable package and sell them as renewed (or if they're real bold, new). I wouldn't doubt for a second that someone is doing the same with other electronics.

Jelle Peters It’s an ibook. The PowerBook had two 3.5mm jacks, one for headphones and the other for either video out or digital audio, I can’t remember. Also the vent on the side of the PowerBook wasn’t as high as the iBook, it was basically on the bottom.
I used the classic through my entire teen years because it was the only iPod that had the space for the amount of music I have. I was so bummed that I couldn’t use Apple Music with it.

Those 10/20/30/60/80 GB were absolutely massive back then. I remember going to a 60GB 5th gen from a typical 256 MB nugget player. Suddenly I didn't have to pick and choose which songs I carry around, just sync the entire library. Including videos! The size isn't anything special anymore with today's phones, but on the other hand, you can flash mod the iPods and put some TB of music on there. So they're still miles ahead in terms of music storage compared to all other nuggets.

I'm honestly sorta tempted tbh, if I could replace the back and front with better quality parts, wouldn't it just be a normal iPod in that case given than the internals are exactly the same? This would be one of the cheapest ways to get get an older iPod and I think it would be cool to own.
Yes but also no, because it’s not actually that cheap. If you are going to be replacing the parts you may as well get a bad condition iPod for cheaper and then replace it

I thought it was an iBook, but they are fairly similar. I suspect that the differences in the instructions are more due to either the revision or market that the photocopy's original came from.

Yep, I got taken on Amazon- bought a BRAND NEW LGV40- noticed the box didn't feel legit, noticed that it was missing literature and the "bum wipe" the phone's wrapper was incomplete and then I noticed the back is obviously a cheap aftermarket one and I gave it a tiny bend and the back came un-stuck. Absolute joke, they sold a refurbished unit as "new" oh, and the best thing, the battery only lasted 2 hours. I would expect a scam if the price was low, but I paid almost double what a refurbished unit costs. At least I got my money back.
For real though I can appreciate when a bootlegger puts effort into the product anyone who doesn't know what they're looking for still got what they wanted approximately and it would be fine to give to a kid, it's just the price tag that makes it bad in my opinion

My dad was really cheap when we were young and he wouldn't buy us any gadgets (even a phone, I had to save up and buy my own) coz he didn't want us to grow up and become "annoying teenagers" glued to their devices. When he finally decided to grace us with his generosity he bought me and my older bro cheap mp3 players. I think it was one of these. The only song saved in it was Happy Birthday sang in Chinese. Quite an experience.

Yep, I got taken on Amazon- bought a BRAND NEW LGV40- noticed the box didn't feel legit, noticed that it was missing literature and the "bum wipe" the phone's wrapper was incomplete and then I noticed the back is obviously a cheap aftermarket one and I gave it a tiny bend and the back came un-stuck.
Absolute joke, they sold a refurbished unit as "new" oh, and the best thing, the battery only lasted 2 hours.
I would expect a scam if the price was low, but I paid almost double what a refurbished unit costs.
At least I got my money back.
For real though I can appreciate when a bootlegger puts effort into the product anyone who doesn't know what they're looking for still got what they wanted approximately and it would be fine to give to a kid, it's just the price tag that makes it bad in my opinion

@@MrEljefe0000 i already bought a flash card to SD Adapter and i am going to use the original battery If it lasts long enough. I tried Rock Box on an iPod nano 1st gen and i dont Like it anyways i dont have so many Songs to listen to so i dont Care about the Song Limit thx for the advice
