I just bought the Max Pro 40, I've had a few Pro Max in varying sizes previously and they were enduring work horses!! I also have a heap of Shimano reels, and they are definitely smoother, but for the price, Abu Garcis really delivers!
I got the combo and it’s totally worth it depending on how big of a rod you like using. You can get a 7’ or 6’6” rod with this reel. I got the 6’6” one and it feels a little too long for everyday bass/trout. Absolutely perfect for carp.
Bought the 2000 series reel for my 10-30g 13 Fishing Fate V3 rod. Mainly because of the color, cause my rod is all white. :D Combo looks sexy as hell and the reel is decent for the price i got it (40euros). Feels sturdy and overall good quality reel except the drag knob feels very cheap, compared to any daiwa/ shimano reels i have used.
I have the 30 that i took down to Florida to fish on the ocean for snapper/ trout ... I ran suffix 30lb braid.. it ran smoothly, with no issues, except i felt like i was constantly having to adjust the drag like it was loosening over time.. The handle is tacky at first (turned orange for some reason), but fish slime and shrimp made it slicker than snot, so holding it became difficult.. I'd give it a 7/10
Nice review, I really want this reel, I had to pause halfway through and forgot to watch the rest on my phone, one question I have is, is this the old or new one.
I’m gonna add something, the reason I wanted to look at abu Garcia is because my papa has an old Abu Garcia ambassaduer 2 bait caster and it still goes so great every time I cast it and fish with it
@CoolGames012 I believe this was the older model. Can’t speak for the new model, but I like the one I have. Abu Garcia has been around for a long time and they make good products! The piscifun feels might be more budget friendly with discount codes and such
Plufger and Lews have smaller sizes to say the weight is lower. I've blown up a Lews Smash 3000 on skip jack. I've had no problems with my Kastking 3000.
I have this and I guess the anti reverse got tripped? Just wanted to ask before I open it up. The weight of my lure makes it spin and I feel kinda stuck
So your drag isn’t working properly? This sounds like a defect to me, how long have you had the reel? If it’s within one year it should be covered under Abu Garcia’s warranty.
@@InlineOutdoors according to Abu it has instant anti-reverse. I got it over the summer… the line just goes depending where the weight is. There’s no stopping the line.
@@APPupied If you’ve already contacted Abu and they won’t do anything for you, then you may need to open the reel up and clean it and grease it. If it’s dirty or not greased enough inside, it could cause the anti reverse to stop working. It may be worth a good cleaning. I’m very interested to hear how you turn out on this. Please let us know!

I use this with a 6’ 6” as well! I love this reel, and for the price it’s pretty tough to beat
Made my mind up I am getting one 👍
I think they are worth it!

$16 here X2 on clearance at Walmart. I failed though it doesn't have reverse switch.😅 But it is firm and smoth working.
That’s a great deal!
what test braid are u using on it?
I think, bought mine like few years ago 20$ bucks brand new, Abu Garcia Pro max 40 🤣 Gotta say It's still as new
I know this is a older video I just picked up the combo what line do you suggest I have Berkley xl 10lb? Thanks for the help
10lb line should be fine, I like powerpro braided line, but I’d honestly just use what you have. What do you normally fish for?
@@InlineOutdoorslarge mouth bass wh wight braid
Either 20 lb or 30 lb, both work good
@@InlineOutdoors thank you for the help

Thank you for the feedback :)
You think the 40 would be alright for pier fishing California north?
Hope it’s strong enough
Should be just fine- had a friend use it for salmon fishing in the STX model- just load it with 20 pound braid and let them run with it!
Got it as my first set up as a combo for 120aud. That's 83usd.. let's see.
What model is your fishing rod?
It’s a 6’ 6” Fenwick Eagle Medium heavy
Is a 30 Abu smaller than a 3000 Daiwa/Shimano? I have a 30 Pflueger that I'd say is comparable to a 2000
Technically I’m pretty sure they’re supposed to be the same size, kinda odd that they’re not!
@@InlineOutdoors nah a 20 Pflueger isn't a 2000 Shimano. Not sure is Abu is the same I'll have to go size yurm up a store

@@davidarwood6264 I guess spool size is what really matters with these ratings, not really the body size as I've come to learn
