Really solid reel. I fished redfish, drum and even speckle trout with this reel. Saltwater. I did burn one up on a 70lbs drum. . . .but. it shouldve broke my line first. Still baffled about that 15lbs test line bringing that 71 pound drum in. (I took a stick and wrapped line around that to pull the fish close enough to net. Gears were smoked in the reel.
They have been at $70 for years, at least for the non-wal mart versions... they had a walmart only version for $40, which was deceptive and crappy. They also don't have a anti-reverse switch (which 95% of people don't care about) but is a major difference.
I like your comments on the Pleuger president. I have a question did you ever own a Pleuger Trion 30 reel, if yes how did you like it? Could you also do a review on this reel?
Hey, thanks for the video! Question: how far are you casting this thing? I just bought the 5’6 pflueger president 25 combo, and with 15 # braid to floro leader and 1/16 jig, I can’t get this thing out much further than 20 ft or so. This is my first rod shorter than 6’6, maybe that’s the difference. Anyways, thanks!
hi i have bought the 20 size of this reel it has had spooling issues out of the box the washer that is under the spool in between the clicker was too thick also had to cut up a spare black smooth drag washer to make a washer on the spool shaft to crosswind block nut becuse the screw bottoms out and still has slop between the block and the screw while it bottoms out on the spool shaft (note it is fishable like that it will stay torqued but the slop it bugs me) it was super smooth when i got it but my line was laying super low but when i made like a conical mini washer out of a drag washer (no more slop) did that and what folks can do if they dont have otheer spool shaft shims you can at your own risk but go slow go slow take some thickness out of the nylon washer in between the click plate and spool until the line roller is close to the top of where the spool lip starts or alternatively find some washers that make up that gap to the same degree it has good line lay but pure fishing at least in my reel made the washer too thick and it would lay line way to far down on the spool and miss the top i adjusted the washer thickness with different washers and it worked it is a nice reel its just at least my 20 size got some fine tuneing issues out the box also to those that have the main gear get bumpy i did on a previous model pres xt but i had tourqued it a bit tight also tip to those who flip the bail with the handle never do that old reels you had to and they made them tougher the new ones flip it by hand please please please it will make your spinning reel experience way way better cheap and less overbuilt reels tend to last eons longer by flipping the bail by hand anyway rant over (also side note no i dont type good i just work on reels)
Imo these are pretty well rounded reels, although essentially they are just reskinned Abu reels, that’s not a bad thing but they feature the same spool design, bale angles and drag components as some cheaper abu’s- overall where Pflueger is right now I’d only buy the supreme with the magnesium body or the president XT with the thicker body and cork handle
Pfluegers are not reskinned Abu Garcias lol. They use different frames, gear design, bail systems, spools, crank arms, drag clickers. Virtually every aspect of Pfluegers are different lol. So yeah, not an Abu reskin.
The old model DEFINITELY looks better. I just went to buy one today because Tackle Warehouse has them on sale (20% off) and I’m SO BUMMED at how they look now. They look cheap, now. I’m not saying they are, but man…the older version was perfect. Why did they change it to THIS?

What’s the difference between regular and Walmart version?
@@robren5810he’s either thinking of the trion reel which is roughly 40/50 USD or some other fake brand

I can definitely look into the trion, I believe I had one years ago. Pretty sure I’d prefer the president over the trion!
Thanks man! This really helped me out!
Glad it helped!

Thanks for sharing man!!
You bet! 👍🏼
I just picked one up today for my Son.
He will love it!
Is it good for pike
The president/president XT in the 30/35 (preferably the 35) will have enough drag and more importantly enough torque to turn their heads back to you

You’re right, you type terribly. Your grammar and punctuation is awful.
Just got mine today and can’t wait to get out with it

I sent my old model in for repair and they sent me the new model back!
Wow that’s great!
They robbed you the old version is a much better reel.
@@Ludwigvonweinershnitzle i personally dont mind either one im a casual fisherman im just glad to be on the water.
@@Ludwigvonweinershnitzlethe new one is decent- although I’d rather take the XT or really the supreme for the extra 30-40 bucks
Out of curiosity where did you send it for service?
I think the old model looks better

It was. The new ones are cheaper to make
